HHS and Social Security make the defense budget look dwarfish by comparison. I thought SS was intended to be self-sustaining. Why do we still have a federal Department of Education when the states are still responsible for running their own schools? There are no federal public schools in this country.

I'm partial to pie charts. 'Course as we all know, pie are round, cake are square, so I guess this could be a 'let them eat cake' moment for Teh Wun's budget.

A trillion is one million million.

A trillion dollar bills laid end to end would reach to the sun from the earth, 93 million miles. That is equal to the distance from N.Y. to L.A. 38,067,949,242 times.

To spend one trillion dollars at a rate of one dollar per second would take 32,000 years.
