Title: How to Screw Yourself Over with a Performance Appraisal
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on October 05, 2010, 09:31:00 PM
Every year federal employees, military types in particular, receive Performance Appraisals. The format generally revolves around stating the criteria to be assessed in one column and then the supervisor offers their appraisal in a neighboring column.

One  of my criteria is to edit and correct outgoing correspondence because, you know, all them college grads can't be trusted to write proper sentences and paragraphs.

So my review reads, "Snuggle Bunny is a subject matter expert on AR 25-50 and corrects all correspondence as he is supposed to."

"Is that OK?" my supervisor asks.

""No, sir."

"What? Why?"

"You ended your sentence with a preposition, sir."

I missed the highest rating by 1 point.

High technical proficiency.  Minor judgment issue, though.

Hey! The PD says I'm supposed to correct correspondence for grammatical, spelling and other errors.

I was only doing my job.

Okay, there are times to be a smartass, and then there are BAD times to be a smartass.

Fortunately, your supervisor has enough of a sens of humor that you were not in the latter category.
