Has DU gotten more moonbattier since President Barack Obama got elected? I feel like it has actually, more so when President George W. Bush was President from 2001 to 2009.

I suppose it depends upon how one defines "moonbattery," and there's probably 1,087,653 definitions of it.
But as a general rule, to me personally, the level of idiocy, imbecility, retardedty, ridiculousness, on Skins's island seems always on an even keel, "high."

You got a point. I always thought DU is full of bitter people with lots of anger and that rarely changes.

I would suggest that they are more in need of group support...the need for someone to tell them what they want to hear so as to feel good despite knowing that their ideals are a sham and will never stand the test of being used.

I'm going with yes. Prior to January 2009, they could blame every ill in the world on Bush/Cheney/Rethugs/Repukes/VRWC, et al just by uttering the words. But since then, they've had to do that while at the same time shielding The Won from any criticism whatsoever. This has led to new heights in spin and cranial-rectal inversion. See BantheGOP and AnArmyVet. Or look at any Chavista thread where Doug's Stupid Ex-Wife chimes in.

I feel differently - I'd say it has decreased.
To explain:
When G.W. Bush was President, it seemed any opinion was okay, as long as it included "Bush Sucks" in it somewhere. Now however - they have to be tempered - as time passes, there are fewer and fewer things that they can blame the opposition for -- leaving only Team Obama to take the hit.
So one by one, the Government Hating Moonbats have been exterminated, as have been the Hillbots, the DK worshipers, and most of the conspiracy theorists.
Leaving behind Obama supporters, and others that keep their actual opinions to themselves.

The 2002 elections when they lost the fifty-fifty split in the Senate was pretty epic, as well. Someone hacked DU so a small window popped up saying "All your Senate belong to us." Drove more than a few of our lunarie furry winged friends to near an hero status.

Ther's two levels I've seen on there, Frank. "High" and "Out of the ****ing world!" I wasn't here during Bush's Presidency, so I'm not entirely sure how high it was, but it would seem to me (since I experienced it in media in all forms during Bush) that they're far more braisin. It seems like even though they said some rotten things during Bush, they still a little afraid. Now...well just look at all the Cheney threads in reference to my point.
That's just my two cents.

They spun wild theories about how some whitehouse reporter being outed as gay would somehow topple the Bush Family Evil Empire. They took footage of abandoned warehouses with an old army or air force locomotive outside then posted it on youtube claiming it was a secret government detention center.
Kephra, one of the great martyrs of the DUmmies, set up a "command post" in his mom's basement consisting of three TV's and a computer or two. He was the first DUmmie to reach one thousand posts. Then he keeled over at his post. His mom shoved his corpse out of the way to post about it on DU.
Will Pitt emerged as the Speaker to the DUmb. He was desperate to get into the democratic establishment. He thought posting long winded empty screeds at the DUmp was his way in. Along the way he coauthored a book with a pedophile, and then admitted that he may have inappropriately touched a female student using a obvious sockpuppet. That didn't turn the DUmmies away, him announcing that Karl Rove had been indicted and would be arrested in "24 business hours" finally did, this incident also ended any hope of him becoming part of the democrat establishment and created an internet meme.

He died of a common staph infection, probably from pushing too hard after a surgery and compromising his own immune system, we are blamed for that to this day.
They've always been crazy, but I think I may have to concur with the coach here. As crazy as they act now, they are rather subdued. They are still just as mean, hateful, spiteful, and bitter as ever, but the only target they got is some ephemeris group, not an actual person. They'd desperately love to dump all over Obama and his minions but it's verbotten over there.

Essentially correct, but more accurately, the Bostonian Drunkard blew his chances for the big time when he was press secretary for then-presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich in 2004, and at the same time passing on Kucinich campaign "secrets" to the campaign of the Bostonian Billionaire.
The Bostonian Drunkard hoped to be rewarded with a high-ranking position in the Kerry campaign, but as perfidy gains one no friends, he didn't get one.

I think that "moonbattery" (you should trademark that word!) is relative to the current conservative threat of the day. In the 70's, it was Nixon. In the 80's, it was Reagan. In the 90's, it was Gingrich, and when he was silenced (and started to move to the left), it was Tom Delay and Trent Lott. And of course, Bush throughout the 2000's. But I've noticed a huge drop in the "indict and imprison Bush/Rove" rants, now being supplanted by Sarah Palin.
When the GOP Congress takes over, the new target will most probably be John Boehner, or whomever the conservatives select as Speaker. In addition, they will gang up on the new Senate Majority leader. These two individuals will receive the bulk of DUmpster hatred. Finally, the ire will be directed to the GOP candidate for president, and if it's Sarah Palin, Katy bar the door. Bush will be a distant memory.
