I will never listen to Elton again. I have admired him since 1970, and he is dead to me now.
How dare you legitimize one of the worst persons in world history.
For money. Which you don't need.
What kind of world do we live in, when Elton John croons to Rush Limbaugh?
You are dead to me now, Sir Elton. Goodbye, you fraud.
Gosh, drama queen much? :lmao:

28. Seriously, why would he alienate his fan base like that?
Pretty dumb career move for a short-term paycheck
So all of Elton's fans are leftists? who knew. I'm like the world's biggest Bruce Springsteen fan, Bruce has a huge Republican base.

38. On the bright side, it probably made a bunch of Freeper heads explode.
Nope, just the heads at the DU!
-
The only thing I can't stand about celebs is when they politicize their work. Dixie Chicks come to mind. Most of America holds the same view. Apparently DUmpster DIvers are the opposite. Who the hell cares who or where they ply their trade?
What a bunch of assholes!

Nope, just the heads at the DU!
I am just so glad Rush is supporting the conservative musicians... oh wait. Its all going to end up spent on booze, powder and rented boys!

So there's two of us here! :hi5: :cheersmate:
A good friend of mine--I deer hunted with him for a looooong time--was a big Dave Matthews fan (died of lung cancer just over a year ago). I remember him telling me something along this lines of, "Hey--they're big boys. They can see the truth, or they can choose to ignore it."
Which is something (ignoring it) that Springsteen and Matthews do pretty well.

'Progressive' Democrat tears, yummy yummy delicious Democrat tears...

I read that DU thread. It is amusing, as stupidity on display always entertains.
The Little Goons make up their own facts about Rush Limbaugh and those facts immediately become gospel. There is one comment there about how Rush "regularly" wants homosexuals killed or arrested. Rush must have two shows, one of which I have never heard.

Oh awesome! hubby and I are huge Bruce fans, we try to go to as many concerts as we can, we went to a concert a few years ago here in NJ, Bush was still President, and Bruce went on a slight rant, I think he got through 30 seconds total, the booing was LOUD, and believe me, it was booing not Bruuuuuucing, after about 30 seconds he said "OK OK all politicians are liars" then went back to singing.

I'll PM you.
Anyway, I've seen Elton a few times over the years. He can still plunk the keys. ('Course, I saw him before he went gai . . . or is it gae? Ghey?)

Haven't seen Elton in concert since the Captain Fantastic days. My friend Molly drank too much and took too many NoDoz before the concert and puked all over my sequined jeans jacket. I do see Tom Petty and Aerosmith every time I can though. Best concert I ever went to was The Clash.

Love the Clash, they may be Leftist freaks but they play some damn' good rockin' music!

Can't stand the guy myself! For a guy coming from "SteelTown", his views are way left of center and the views of his conservative fans. He makes too much of his left wing views rather than just makin' music.
Just because you have access to a soapbox doesn't mean you should climb up and start sputtering marxist BS!

I like what Trace Atkins had to say about musicians that spout political viewpoints in concert:
"They came here to hear you sing, not run your mouth. So shut up and sing."
-
:sarcasm: I am sure that fact is killing Elton John
-
I paid a pretty penny in 2007 to see the Police reunion show. I could care less what their politics are and they didn't bring it up. The guys played a great show and the opening band was fronted by Sting's son who was decent. Just good music and some giggling as I could swear that Pammy was in front of us. She was a short, squat woman with no neck dry heaving to the music. :lmao:
-
Y'know, I've listened to Rush off and on over the years, mostly out running around at lunchtime when I worked somewhere I could pick him up (Which I can now), I can't say I recall him being any particular dedicated foe of Teh Ghey. To the extent he talks about DADT and similar issues, it's really much more about the Lib part of the picture with Lib gays as a special interest group than it is about gays per se.

I've listened to Rush for 22 years and he's not anti-gay, he's just against making changes to accommodate the loud mouth radical leftist gay activists. Like most conservatives he just doesn't care what people do in their bedrooms as long as it doesn't effect everyone else.
BTW, I've looked everywhere for this and can't find it, remember when Rush did a spoof called Gulf War the Movie? he did it around the time of the Gulf War, and he cast the movie with people like Morgan Fairchild as his wife LOL, and the person to portray the Iraqi civilian who crossed the bridge bombed and survived, that person would be portrayed by Ted Kennedy :lmao:. Any idea where I can find this spoof?
-
Sorry, no, and that's one of the times I couldn't get him; I'm not a site member though, someone who is could probably tell you whether that stuff can be retrieved or purchased by the paid members.

I literally cried the times he played that on the radio, it was that funny. I have to renew my membership at his site, but when I was a member I looked for it there but couldn't find it.

I always try to separate the art from the artist. If I didn't, I'd be missing out on a lot of good things.
They almost gave up on Elton when he performed with Eminem. I think they'll still listen, they just won't tell anyone, and they will gripe about him. I don't think Elton has too much to worry about. Not that he is.
I will say that it does surprise me that he is performing for Rush. But, it is his choice. I will still listen to him because I love love love his older music. And quite honestly, I just don't care.
-

As odd as this may sound--and I readily admit this is 90% aesthetics--I can listen to Rage Against the Machine despite their politics but Green Day irks me beyond tolerance. It's probably because in addition to being lefties they're also a bunch of whining puss-tards.
I can't stand whining.

See I love Green Day and it has nothing to do with politics. Their "Dookie" album came out when I was in high school, and they always take me back to my high school days. And "Dookie" was an awesome album. I don't listen so much to them now, but I always liked the sound of Billie Joe Armstrong's voice.

I disagree, but mainly they make me nostaligic for my teen days. Fun times they were.

Uh oh, the DU would freak out if they saw this, I guess I'll transcribe it so they won't have to listen to Mark talking about it :-)
Here's Mark Levin talking about Rush's wedding, he talks about Elton John starting at the 1:04 mark in the video, he says (get the Valium ready for the DU) he says that Elton expalined to Mark that he's about tearing down walls not building them up, and when Rush had his illness in Hawaii he was at the same hotel as Elton John and Elton asked management how Rush was doing and when Rush and his then girlfriend heard about it they contacted Elton through his manager and within a short period of time Rush and Kathryn asked Elton's manager if he'd perform at their wedding, and Elton said he wants me at his wedding, and Rush did, and Elton explained to the over 400 guests that he and Rush kept up a fairly regular e-mail exchange, so there he was and he was gracious and superb and is under attack from the left, we're far more tolerant then those on the left.

I honestly don't know why people care. I have friends who have total opposite views than I do. But life is about way more than politics. Politics may affect our lives, but I wouldn't trade my friends for the world. Good people come in all kinds of packages.

It's so true. I have a lot of moonbat friends on Facebook, and I try not to get bent out of shape at their political yammerings. But I just noticed that one of them is no longer on my friends list. In fact, I can't find him on Facebook at all. He seems to have completely blocked me. I'm not even sure which thing I posted on my wall sent him over the edge. :evillaugh:

I have moonbat idiot friends too. We remain friends because they completely understand I have absolutely no respect for their dishonest worldview. They know I cannot be fooled. I don't think much of them. We get along fine.

I have a great relationship with a few liberals I know, politics aside they're cool people.

Ditto. They know I'm set in my views--which just happen to be borne out time and time again. I don't rub it in, though, chiefly because they expect me to--it's what they would do. That (not rubbing it in) really can get to them. :-) :naughty:

AMEN.

The irony of the OP...
Elton John already made his money off of him/her... Not listening anymore is completely irrelevant to his bank account... :rotf:
-
Well, Elton technically lives in Vegas so he can keep most of his money. If his main residence was in Britain he'd have to fork ~85% of his entire income to Sheriff John.

Oh, Jay-sus, you are young! No wonder you're still a lib.
-
Levin is like garlic to the vampires of our culture! Anyone who screams for more entitlements will have Levin on the backsides in a heart tick!
"Get off the phone, you jerk!" heh, I luv the guy when he tries to educate moonbats! "Pay attention, I'm tryin' to teach you somethin'!"

One the left, racial purity is second only to ideological purity.
And when someone's as big as Elton John, a lot of the public feel like they own him. He's not just Elton John, he is their Elton John, and when Elton John performs at Rush Limbaugh's wedding, it reflects badly on the DUmmie.
-
Something tells me your liberal friends wouldn't put up with the idiots that post on DU for the most part.

If that is directed at me (and I am not sure it was), but no my conservative friends wouldn't. I actually don't have too many "liberal" friends. MS is pretty conservative.
-
LOL...that's cool.
I just meant, if you have liberal friends who have liberal views, but they accept you as a friend anyway, then they aren't the type to hang out with the idiot types that hang out on DU in the first place, hope that makes more sense.

I do have a few liberal MS friends who would probably (ok definitely) be disgusted by a lot of things said at DU. They'd agree with some stuff, but they'd also see there are some loons out there.
-

Soleil, I think you should just come to the dark side. The first step is the hardest, admitting it to yourself. The rest will just follow. :p

To be fair, I know of a few people who's views are like mine for the most part, but whom I would not want to associate with. They are just as wacked out as the DU types. But for the most part, if a person it crazy, he's usually a leftist.

lol Mom? Is that you?
I admit many of my family members are somewhat perplexed at my political views. My brother considers himself an independent, but I don't really know why. He would never vote any way but republican. I have always considered myself left of center. Not far left, but left nonetheless.

I always find it interesting how people in a family are of 1 political persuasion but then 1 goes the other way when they're older. Susan Sarandon's Mom is very conservative yet why did Susan go the other way? My Mother was a Democrat (Republican now) and my Father was a Republican yet I always leaned Republican, my Mother said when RFK was running he made an appearance in Brooklyn and she carried me all the way down to where he was appearing and she kept holding me up and I was being cranky and wouldn't cooperate, I was barely walking and talking yet I believe even back then I supported Nixon LOL.

Hey I voted for Clinton (yes I was young and stupid once too), there is hope for you yet. Both of my brothers (one died two years ago) are/were liberal, of the moonbat persuasion.
By the way, are you saying I'm old? :p

I started paying attention. My views didn't change, I just realized that my views didn't mesh with the democrat party. 911 cemented that fact. I voted for him the first time, not the 2nd.

My Mother was a registered Democrat for over 50 years, the 1st time she voted for a Republican President was 1988, she finally changed over to Republican about 5 years ago, she's a very Religious woman and she felt the Democratic party didn't care about people like her anymore.

Conservatives aren't monolithic. We all share a reverence for life and I don't know any conservative (note: I didn't say Republican) who isn't pro-life. But I know plenty who are agnostic or atheist so the stereotype of Bible-thumping mind-numbed robots is a myth. But I'm probably more libertarian about gay marriage than most people around here.
I used to be very liberal and disgustingly feminist. I thought that made me stronger but I finally figured out it just made me angrier because the whole feminist ideology is based on victimhood. That's why I love this election season...so many strong conservative women and not an angry, resentful pro abortion woman among them. My reasoning skills (learned, ironically, through my liberal arts education) finally turned me to the dark side. I'm more of a Sith anyway...Jedi are too wimpy sometimes.

I tend to be more Libertarian about gays in general. As long as they don't throw it in my face, I don't care what they do in the bedroom.

ditto.
My Grandparents were Baptist Republicans. Before they got married, my Granddad was a Methodist Democrat, who smoked. My Grandmother said all three were deal breakers, so he ended up a non-smoking Baptist Republican. My Grandmother HAD to have been hot stuff back in the day. :-)

When celebs exchange their conservative roots for liberal, usually it is merely because they can afford to now, and want to be seen as caring individuals even though they live more like King Louie and Marie Antoinette!
Off with their heads! Most are as phony as a 3 dollar bill!

I tend to be the same way as far as far as "the moral issues" go. I am pro life but I am all for consenting adults doing whatever they want to do as long as there is no victim. It's none of my business what people do in private.

I don't give a rusty what you do behind closed doors, just don't try and cram it down my throat or teach my children it's okay when they are to young to even know why "sissy" has to sit down to pee!

You and President Reagan both experienced the same phenomenon.
From The Age of Reagan: The Conservative Counterrevolution (http://www.amazon.com/Age-Reagan-Conservative-Counterrevolution-1980-1989/dp/1400053579):
"I didn't leave the Democratic Party. The party left me."
