Anyone else into this fantastic show? Season 3 started last Sunday, continues tonight at 9 CT on AMC.
-
What is it about?
-
What is it about?
HS chemistry teacher who was told he has terminal cancer, becomes a meth cook, and eventually a drug kingpin in order to set his family up financially. One of his former students is the primary dealer for his meth.
Short season 1, regular (13 episode) Season 2. Season 3 just started...whoa.
This is gonna be a GOOD season.
ETA: Set in Albuquerque.
-
What is it about?
50ish high school chemistry teacher is diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. So he decides to start manufacturing meth with a former student, in order to make enough money so that his wife & kids can survive without him. Lots of interesting chaos ensues.
The main character is the father from "Malcolm in the Middle" and also played the dentist Tim Whatley on Seinfeld.
-
Yes -- great show!! Glad to have it back again. BTW, wasn't "V" supposed to start again in March?

They aired a recap on the 23rd, and the first new episode is April 6th.

Sounds like a real family values kind of show,
this season: pass out those pre-teen condoms!

It's a lot deeper than that. It heavily examines the moral and ethical dilemnas of the character's lives. Plus, it's damn entertaining.
BTW, last night's episode was one of the best of the entire series, IMHO.

Loved the pizza on the roof!

Loved the pizza on the roof!
That was funny. That doll's eyeball that Walt kept from the plane crash...weird how it keeps showing up.

Or when the parents are vacating the house after having been conned into selling it for far less than it was worth, and along comes Jesse...

Or when the parents are vacating the house after having been conned into selling it for far less than it was worth, and along comes Jesse...
That was a sweet move by Jesse.
-
Or when the parents are vacating the house after having been conned into selling it for far less than it was worth, and along comes Jesse...
Loved seeing Jesse walk right by them to the front door and then close it behind him!
-
And things continue to get interesting. I love how Walt is so protective of the "integrity of the chemistry". You would think at this point that he would let Jesse assist him, given the somewhat surrogate father/son relationship that has developed. Although it appears Jesse may have bigger worries in next week's episode.

Every show on television hasto be family friendly? It's 2010 brother...not 1950!

No shows are family friendly today, none

Holy sh*t!!!! Last night's episode was un-freaking believable!!! Only the season finale is left, but at least it is an hour & 45 minutes.
-
was NOT expecting Walt to do that!! :o
-
I missed the entire series. :(
I'll probably buy it on DVD when it comes out later.

Seasons 1 & 2 are already out. Don't know if AMC will re-run this season or you'll have to wait until Season 3 DVD's come out.
It's well worth it, Chris.

I received all three seasons for my birthday. Again Chris, it is well worth it. What an outstanding show...and an incredible Season 4 premiere last night.
-
I'll have to check it out later. I'm shopping around for a complete set of 'Monk' DVDs.
-
Any other fans here? The Shield used to be my benchmark for best TV entertainment, but this show is something else.
-
Big fan here, and I stumbled on it by accident in the first season. It is an amazing show, and continues to evolve in new and more interesting directions.
-
I didn't become aware of this show until recently, when I happened to catch the current season premier while channel surfing. I was impressed, so I bought the previous seasons and got up to date on the story. I used to think that The Shield was the greatest TV show ever, but I am now thinking that Breaking Bad may have it beat, hands down. Great performances, and a very edgy, dark, and suspenseful storyline.
-
Am I the only one that finds Walter's family to be annoying as shit? Every last one of them. Ugh. :-)
-
His son in particular, I want to beat him with his crutch.
-
I passed on the show until recently. Downloaded the first 4 seasons to finally check it out and love it. Season 5 starts Sunday July 15
-
His son in particular, I want to beat him with his crutch.
W-w-w-wuh wuh Walter Junior.
-
W-w-w-wuh wuh Walter Junior.
That's the guy. I see him as a game changer for this coming season, he's either going to get murdered or he will be held hostage. I hope for the former.
-
I'm halfway through season 3 at this point. It's too damn hot to work outside so I'm in here watching TV.
-
Oh season 4 is the best, very well done.
-
I'm not sure, but I think Netflix stops at season 3. Good thing I have Amazon Prime.
-
Season 4 of Breaking Bad is awesome. Walt aint stupid

Holy shit, the gimp got him.

Finished season 3.
That was cold blooded. Damn.

Sent you a pm. Also, AMC is re-running Season 4 late nights coming up in the next couple of days. The first episode of #4 is called "Box Cutter". You can catch up that way.
Be careful reading any Season 5 previews...spoilers abound in most of the online articles.
-
I just found out Netflix is starting season 4 next week (July 15).
I'm trying to avoid looking at anything related to season 5. :-)
-
Great show
-
Breaking Bad looks like a cool show.
-
Holy shit, the gimp got him.
I shouldn't have put that up without a spoiler warning, sorry Chris.
-
This is the first I have heard of this show.
I am very interested.
I have found many shows on the cable networks that I now DVR and order the past seasons on half.com on DVD.
My nights at home are quiet. I have a crazy work schedule and my sleep schedule is even worse.
I am going to check this show out.

Trust me Rob, it is well worth it. I have every season on DVD, and I'm not one of those people who normally buys that type of stuff. It is that good. 8)
-
It's on! :hyper:
I finally got Netflix loaded on this computer and get to watch season 4. Bring it.
-
Burger with a side of pancakes... that's an interesting combination.

Interesting purchase Walt made in the opening scene. Walt don't play :-)
Set up about a half dozen or so story lines. Going to be interesting to see how they play out.
-
I was shocked that Ted is still alive, he's a major player now. I don't know, but I think the opening scene tells us that Walt's family is dead, and he is getting geared up to go postal on the guys that did it. We won't know until the last ep most likely.
As always, a great show with really great writing and performances.
-
I think the cops going to find something in the truck they used at the evidence locker that ties it back to them. Walt just seemed WAAAYYYYYY too smug with his, "Because I said so" bit.
JMO.
-
I knew Hank's wife was psycho. :mental:
What a ****ed up family (still on season 4 and Jesse's friends are still a couple of dumbasses). :-)

Walt has gotten much more smug, hence the title of the show & evolution of his character.
-
Hell, Jesse is a big enough dumbass himself.
Yeah, but Jesse's character has evolved too. Still a bit of a dumbass, but he does realize what's going on & what the consequences could end up.
So so SO happy to see Mike back. His character adds so much to the show & process of how things will procede from here on out.
-
The scene with Saul is priceless.
Almost every scene with Saul is priceless.

Just finished season 4.
Holy shit.

Just finished season 4.
Holy shit.
That was a hell of an ending, wasn't it??
-
It sure was.
I got to watch the first episode for season 5 on AMC's website. I don't know if they're going to keep putting them online, but I'll check later.
-
Rush was talking today about that he was told BB was the best show on television.
-
It sure was.

For now, AMC is putting the current season's episodes online for at least a few days/a week. Dish network dropped AMC, so that is part of the reason why.
I'm on their mailing list, will let you know when/if they make episode 2 available.
-
Ok, gonna netflix it. I just started Mad Men on Netflix and have got to Season 4 and LOVE IT! :yahoo: I will now watch this one. I don't do cable, just Netflix.
-
Getting Scoobie into it. She just started Season 1. Where she sees Walt standing in the road in his underwear, she's like, "You want me to watch THIS???"

Awesome! As I confessed way at the beginning of the thread, I found the show by accident about 3 episodes in. Now I've gotten almost a dozen friends hooked on it. When we can't get together to talk about it, I get a multitude of texts that night or the next day. Love it...just like Walt's concoction of blue crystal, I am so hooked on this damn show.
-
Buenos dias, Seňor Heisenberg...

To paraphrase Jesse from Breaking Bad, the show is "the bomb, yo!"
Mad Men is very very good. Since I'm caught up on all, honestly have to say that Breaking Bad is better, probably Dexter too. They are all very well worth watching...far better than most of the dreck on TV.
-
Buenos dias, Seňor Heisenberg...
Buenos dias, Senor Jesse.
Still no word if AMC made the latest episode available online. Haven't looked.
-
Mike is right, Walt is a ticking time-bomb. It's going to get really ugly.
-
Mike is right, Walt is a ticking time-bomb. It's going to get really ugly.
What really sucks is that there are only 5 more episodes, then another break for 6/9 months. This season has been awesome already!!!!
-
I am starting to really dislike Walter, he is a manipulative creep and he gets off on it. I don't like that character at all any more.
-
I am into the 3rd episode? where they have Crazy 8 locked up down in the basement and dude poured hydrocholoric acid in the ceramic tub to dissolve Emilio's body and well it ate through the tub. That was gross :lmao:
-
This is really starting to bug me. It's been over a week and episode 2 is still not online.

You naughty boy.
I try not to spend any more money on Amazon since I have Netflix as well. I originally got the Amazon membership so I could watch the British version of 'Life on Mars'. It was worth it since I got caught up on my Star Trek: Voyager reruns.

All a part of him "breaking bad". His character has to be that way. Not exactly a classic protagonist, but his character had to evolve into an unlikable one eventually.

They gotta develop the plot lines. I Think Walt & Mike are going to eventually go for each other. Jessie is going to have to choose sides.

:censored: :censored: :censored:
I recorded an episode using Directv On Demand.
After watching it I recorded four more episodes.
I watched them in the last 24 hours.
I might be hooked.
I might have to check out half.com and see if I can purchase the previous episodes on DVD.
I'm enjoying tonight's episode of Longmire right now. Another show that I found I need to watch. :banghead:
-
I've got Scoobie hooked. She's gone through most of Season One on Netflix.
-
Sneaky, Walt. Very, very sneaky.

Now this is more like it.

I'll catch up tomorrow.

Meth has gone high tech!
I am used to selling Sudafed to the smurfs at work. They save money by buying the "store brand" 96 count...

Holy crap! I didn't realize they were splitting this season between two more and 8 more in 2013. Kinda sucks, I'd like to see it all come to an end at this point. Walt is a manipulative asshole, I really hate him.
-

AMC was trying to save money by splitting the season in half. It is a costly show to produce.
And yes, Walt is becoming more & more unlikeable every week. Loved the dinner scene with Jesse & Skyler. Don't think they've shared a scene since season 1.
-
I'm surprised that we don't see more of Ted, I thought he would be a major character this season since he has the knowledge to pretty much knock the whole house of cards down. The scene with Jessie and Skylar was great, I was laughing.

Sucks for the people that have Dish Network and no longer have AMC.
I watched last nights episode today.
I could of gone without seeing a little boy get shot during the train robbery last week and they had to show it again this week. But that is what happens in real life. Meth is a dangerous game. Especially if you are selling "the blue." :-)
What the hell was that show that my DVR cut off after the episode? "Small town security" all I caught was something about tight pants and camel toes. :lmao:
-
"Say my name!"
Oh, shit!
-
"Say my name!"
Oh, shit!
Yep, last night's episode really demonstrated how deep Walt is into it now. Not going to be a fun ride for him down the abyss. But should be entertaining to watch.
-
Not sure why but my DVR did not record last night. So it will pick it up in the next day or so.
A friend on face book already posted the spoiler...lol
-
No spoilers, just finished watching tonight's season finale. Great usage of "Crystal Blue Persuasion". Don't want to wait until next year to wrap this all up. Oh well.
-
I admit, I haven't been keeping up. I don't like the delay between AMC's schedule and when it shows up on Amazon, so I've been waiting for Amazon to catch up. I stopped watching a couple episodes ago (the Great Train Robbery).

Well, you'll have plenty of time to catch up now. No new episodes until next summer. At least that's what they said at the end of last night's episode.

I feel bad for anyone on here who has Dish Network and can't watch it. Them dropping AMC was a stupid move.

Well, AMC actually made a separate website for Dish customers so they can watch it. That shows that they care about their fans.
-
I won't watch AMC because of all the damned commercials.
-
I won't watch AMC because of all the damned commercials.
They do show a lot. Then, all the televisions stations are starting to show too many. Depending on what is on will determine if they show more; ie, NASCAR - They show two laps of racing for every eight laps of commercials. And they wonder why the viewership is dropping.
-
I won't watch AMC because of all the damned commercials.
I try to watch shows on my DVR only, other than sporting events. Tough on most Sunday nights, but if you start Breaking Bad or Mad Men earlier this year at say 9:20 (for me in the Central time zone), you can be done right about the time the show actually ends.

Now I have to wait almost a year to watch it again....

I thought I was all caught up on the old episodes. I found out I was wrong when my DVR started recording some older episodes a few weeks ago.
I started by just deleting the episodes, thinking I had already seen them. Then I watched one and realized I had not seen it. So the episodes have been keeping me up late at night and I am patiently awaiting the final episodes of the series.
-
New episode tonight, I'm all excited.

Is this still season 5 or are they on 6 now?
I stopped watching season 5 halfway through. I'm just getting caught up now.

It's season 5B, they split the season for financial reasons. 16 total episodes, number 9 of season 5 is tonight. The last 8 episodes are supposed to end the show for good, there won't be a season 6.

Excellent episode tonight! 8)
I agree.
I have found myself staying up late watching all the old episodes that my DVR recorded. Like I mentioned before I thought I was all caught up, started to delete some of the older episodes, and then realized I had not seen them. Good stuff. I just seen the nursing home explosion episode last night. Went into work really tired! I did the same thing last Friday night! Several Fridays in a row. That was fine until my work schedule changed and I now work Saturday mornings....EARLY.
Staying up late & watching old Breaking Bad episodes makes me feel like I am strung out on the "blue." The good news is my nose does not hurt and I do not have any trouble sleeping when it's really needed! That damn show is addicting. I need a Breaking Bad 12 step program!
-

Cable outage that interrupts 'Breaking Bad' sparks 911 outrage (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/cable-outage-that-interrupts--breaking-bad--sparks-multiple-calls-to-911-172809611.html)
Calls placed to 911 are intended to be for emergencies only. But that doesn’t stop people from phoning the police line for their own personal crises.
Police in Fairfield, Conn., say that a cable outage in the area during the airing of the drama “Breaking Bad†on Sunday night resulted in a spate of calls to police from people outraged they were missing their show about chemistry teacher turned meth-making drug lord Walter White.
A message caught on the Fairfield Police Department's Facebook page that has since been deleted read, “We are receiving numerous calls regarding the Cablevision outage. This is neither an emergency or a police related concern. Please direct your inquiries to Cablevision.â€
The post also warned that “911 should be called for life-threatening emergencies only†and “misuse of the 911 system may result in an arrest.â€
One fan of the show, referring to the drug kingpin’s lawyer, the character Saul Goodman, posted jokingly, “In case of ‘Breaking Bad’ emergency, call Saul!"

I have been messing with a couple of coworkers. I find out through the grape vine which co worker has not seen the episode yet. Then I approach that person with some bullshit made up story about what happened on the episode and wait for them to tell me "I have not watched it yet."
I call it the "false spoiler" it helps pass the time at work. :-)

Great episode tonight. Can't believe the show is almost over.
-
There will be a spin off.
"Better Call Saul" will run for at least a year after Breaking Bad ends.

No way--I'll bet something trivial and worthless Saul dies.

My team members at work love getting text messages when I am home watching Breaking Bad.
"Breaking Bad Amber Alert"
There is a young guy (just turned 21) that about had a stroke when I told him A & E went off the air due to a contract dispute. :lmao:
I have an unique leadership style at work. :-)

I don't watch much TV beyond BB, but that was/is an awesome show. IMO they deserved it.

Last Sunday was not as exciting as the previous week. It was still good, just not great.

You're right, but I think it was just getting everything set up for the finale. Which I pray will be as good as the rest of the series.

I hate to see the show end and I can't wait to see how it ends.
I never even considered watching the show until I first read about the show in this thread. It took some catching up but it was well worth every second. I suggest that everyone does the same.
I think this is the first and only lounge thread that ever changed my life or at least my television viewing habits.

One of the entertainment shows on television was talking about how popular the hat is now:
Buy the hat! (http://www.heisenberghat.com/walter-white-heisenberg-pork-pie-hat/)
I heard from a friend from the Quad Cities in Illinois that is having a Breaking Bad party Sunday. Complete with cotton candy flavored rock candy which was the prop used for the blue meth in the tv show.

I haven't watched the show but I heard an interesting theory on how it's going to end for Walter. The last episode is named "Felina". According to the director it's just the word finale scrambled. However, in the Marty Robbins song "El Paso", the person in the song returns to El Paso to see the woman he loves, who is named Felina, even though he knows he will die if he does go there. The person does go back to Felina, gets shot by the law in El Paso and dies in Felina's arms. The person who had this theory believes the same will happen to Walter.

I was told you could actually already purchase the entire season including tomorrows episode a couple weeks ago.

Great call! The beginning of the episode showed Walt opening the glove compartment and spilling a Marty Robbins cassette.

No spoilers, but other than Newhart, that may have been the best final episode of a show.

The wife and I are watching the whole thing on DVD. So far we're at Season 2 where Walt hands his partner the gun and says 'take care of it".
However, it's a bit "slow" so far, does it pick up?

I was doing a search for the Breaking Bad DVD collection, and stumbled across this:
Inside President Obama's 'Breaking Bad' Binge (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1719675/inside-president-obamas-breaking-bad-binge.jhtml)
President Barack Obama is many things. Leader of the United States, basketball enthusiast ... and "Breaking Bad" fan.
The New York Times recently profiled the President's television habits, stating that he enjoys "deep, dark or edgy" shows like "House of Cards," "Homeland" and, yes, the recently-concluded "Breaking Bad." The article says Mr. Obama is currently "working his way through the DVD box set" of the AMC series, and he "frequently reminds those around him not to give anything away."
Well, here's what we're giving away: An inside-look at Barack Obama's reactions to "Breaking Bad." Read on for what sources have told MTV News about Obama's take on the Emmy-winning drama series.
- snip -
Just a few things from the "MTV News" article:
- Insiders tell us that Obama's favorite character is DEA agent Hank Schrader. The President appreciates Hank's "strong work-ethic and self-starter attitude," exhibited by Schraderbrau and the rock collection.
- Obama's second-favorite character is Jesse Pinkman, almost in spite of himself. Even though Pinkman begins the series as a low-life meth-head, Obama sympathizes with Jesse's frequent brushes with tragedy.
The rest is at the above link. Even though the series is over, I prefer not to give away any spoilers for those like the 0bumbler who are/were still catching up.

I don't think there was much to it other than character development, she was just a tad bit nuts.

Walking Dead meets Breaking Bad = Walking Bad or Breaking Dead.

Incorrect.
The last episode I saw is the one where Walt invades the redneck compound with his remote controlled M-60 in the trunk to rescue Jesse, and gets killed in the cooking lab.

Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul have ruined me for other shows!

True. I did enjoy "Rubicon", long since canceled after 1 season.
