The Top Ten Immediate Benefits You’ll Get When Health Care Reform Passes

Sorry if a repost, couldn't find.
As soon as health care passes, the American people will see immediate benefits. The legislation will:
•Prohibit pre-existing condition exclusions for children in all new plans;
•Provide immediate access to insurance for uninsured Americans who are uninsured because of a pre-existing condition through a temporary high-risk pool;
•Prohibit dropping people from coverage when they get sick in all individual plans;
•Lower seniors prescription drug prices by beginning to close the donut hole;
•Offer tax credits to small businesses to purchase coverage;
•Eliminate lifetime limits and restrictive annual limits on benefits in all plans;
•Require plans to cover an enrollee’s dependent children until age 26;
•Require new plans to cover preventive services and immunizations without cost-sharing;
•Ensure consumers have access to an effective internal and external appeals process to appeal new insurance plan decisions;
•Require premium rebates to enrollees from insurers with high administrative expenditures and require public disclosure of the percent of premiums applied to overhead costs.
By enacting these provisions right away, and others over time, we will be able to lower costs for everyone and give all Americans and small businesses more control over their health care choices.

29. Not one single item on that list applies to me. Not one.
If it were a good list that did lots of good things for others, I could cheer it even though it leaves me out in the wasteland of the uninsured. Sadly, I don't see much positive in it.
As someone around here says quite frequently,
Meh.

Nothing in there to benefit myself or my family... Gonna have to make a stronger sale.
That's the real crux of the whole HCR debacle. General perception, mine included, is that the benefits, if any, are outweighed by the costs. Appealing to the warm and fuzzy is a stinker of an idea.

42. If we're going to tax stockbrokers' health plans and benefits, we have to tax unions as well.
And if we can only pass the pre-existing exemption for kids at this point, then so be it.
We both want the same things, but if we can't have it all and have it right now, I'll accept some reform now and more over time.
Nope...I want it all!!!!

50. No, actually, you don't have to tax the union plans. The union busting is despicable.
Edited on Wed Mar-17-10 03:34 PM by Edweird
Especially given how much support the unions gave Obama during his campaign.

How much will person with a pre-existing condition be expected to pay for a premium in that pool? Affordably is relative. Under the Obama plan I am expected to come up with $140 a month to pay for my premiums. There are some weeks I am livng paycheck to paycheck and don't have $20 to spare to eat, let alone pay for a premium.

I'd rather keep my money in my pocket and take care of my own health care. I can't afford these grand plans people have for my income, I need to do things like eat and keep the lights on.

It's a bitch when Obummer's plan does not have the intended consequences; having to pay for it is not in their DNA.

Are you shitting me? $140 a month is less than I had to pay for my employer-provided Blue Cross plan. I'm on a state-pooled Blue Cross plan now that normally costs $120 a month, but I am getting half of it subsidised. $60 a month, to me, seems like "free" as it is. (And the state plan I'm on is way better than employer plan I was on, has a lower out of pocket limit, and lower copays.)

Here are a few more that I bet they haven't considered:
*Increased taxes, levies, and fees which will kick in immediately, but the program doesn't start paying out until 2014.
*30% or more of doctors saying "F this!" and quitting rather than deal with mindless asshat bureaucrats.
*Rationing of services and medicines (a la Canada and GB) for patients with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
*Waiting lists for routine tests like MRI's, CT's, X-rays, and for surgeries (in GB, there are waiting lists to get on waiting lists).
*Denial of treatment to patients who don't lead a "healthy lifestyle".
*Hospital and ER closings due to lack of funding and staffing.
Just keeps looking better and better all the time, doesn't it....

I saw this last night but didn't have time to do this. I wanted to point something out to our lurking DUmmies. Look at this break down of the DUmmies posts;

Well, here is a bonus for all you retired military people. Tricare is going to be aligned with the new medicare reimbursement rates. Those rates are going to go down. Therefore, all the MD's that start refusing medicare patients will do the same to Tri-care patients. But you will never have to worry about a cap, and pre-existing conditions are not an issue, all we will have to do is que up at the local MTF for care. 8-5, Monday thru Friday except that odd day that the clinic is closed for training, or every federal holiday, or weekends, or after work.
I use a private MD, I will continue to use this person even after I start having to pay more out of pocket costs, hell, I will pay cash for office visits and use insurance for that big problem, like it should be used for.
-
...
11. Less money to blow on wasteful nonessentials like "Savings," "Family," or "Recreation."
12. Better sense of national feeling of "Shared sacrifice" when medical care becomes less available and/or more perfunctory for all.

Sorry your Skittle Shitting Unicorn won't be showing up anytime soon.
Not a single DUmbass understands that only the taxes and new bureaucracies start immediately. The FREEEEEEEEEEEE medical doesn't kick in until 2014.
They don't call them DUmmys for nothing.

Actually, notesdev makes a good point and I agree with him/her.

New England Journal of Medicine had a poll yesterday pegging it at 46%. WSJ had a similar stat. This point has not been trumpeted far and wide, and is being conveniently ignored by the media and most congresscreeps. Maybe they'll finally understand what "going Galt" means when they're expiring of a heart attack and nobody gives a shit; they've gone fishing.

If you're on Medicare, forget about seeing a doctor.

After I had 3 lumpectomies, I had to get new insurance because the time limit was up on my COBRA eligibility.
Because one of the lab reports came back "pre-cancer cells present"... ::)....I had trouble getting insurance as I'm a single rather than in a group. I was quoted a price that was almost a thousand a month...if I wanted my boobiez to have insurance coverage.
I called the State Dept of Commerce to ask if that was legal and the woman said yes. The insurance companies have the right to charge whatever they want for coverage....or to deny coverage. However, because they didn't turn me down, I didn't qualify to get the state health plan either (TennCare). I ended up going with a different company and no coverag for anything relating to the boobiez or breast cancer. Even if I got cancer somewhere else, if it could be connected to the same type of cell as any of the breast cancers, I would have no coverage.
Yeah...the new health care bill might make it that one cannot be denied coverage....question is, will it be affordable?
-
Hey DUmbass, there is no immediate except payin' more to Uncle Sam in taxes!
Anything in that bill having to do with your sorry health, don't start for 4 frikkin' years! Haven't you been payin' attention? Idiot! At least take the time to read the particulars!

Sure! Cause it'll be those of us makin' a livin', subsidizing those that cannot afford it! The Bummer's idea is to "spread the wealth"! Especially ours!

On a brighter side, the CBO says they will save 138 billion over 10 years....
Only thing is, the government has to spend 940 billion (over SIX years, not 10) to do it....
On another note, when has the government EVER had a spending projection that wasn't underestimated by at least a factor of 5....
Don't forget those 12,000 extra IRS workers they will be hiring to enforce compliance with the mandatory purchase of insurance....
And DUmmies are all for this? And they call US stupid? :mental:

Perfect description of the "Bummer's" healthcare bill! "We have to pass something in order to save the President's integrity"! WTF???? What a bunch of bullshirt! It's no longer about healthcare, now they're whining that if this doesn't pass, The "Bummer" will basically be a lame duck for the rest of his term. Wouldn't that be too bad?
Since when do we make law and try and take over 1/6 of the American economy, in order to make a President look like he's accomplishing something? This guy has an ego the size of the DUmbass' Uranus!!! The arrogance of this guy is mind boggling!
I swear I must be living in a parallel universe! This is getting to be just about as un-American as it can get!!!!! Never in my lifetime, or in the history of the country, as far as I know, has congress forced anything like this down our collective throats! The only time I can recollect, it caused a Civil War!
Okay, when are the apes taking over and throwing the rest of us into cages in order to do their bidding?
-

Um....I tell M that I save him money every time I go shopping.
Sometimes....I can do "blonde" so well.... :-)
Back on topic....I've had Fox, while I've been in here working, since a bit before 8....and the difference in the rhetoric between the D and the R reps ....I've been sitting here stunned.
Granted their opinions are always diverse...but it's like they aren't even on the same planet....let alone in the same building.
What's even worse...is watching these R reps ....obviously angry at the situation....saying they are going to stop the bill from passing...but it's like they know they can't and are really worried for the country.
The D reps...they are just spouting out how great it's going to be for the people.....and I want to know what drugs they are taking.
-
LSD was popular with the current cretins occupying the DemonRat offices. Timothy Leary was one of their hero's donchaknow! One look at Pelosi's permanent "exclamation face", or Reids "back from the dead" looking corpse should tell you all you need to know!
"Ya's ought to lay off them drugs Bubba, they done made you null and void"!

Actually, I have to admit I say that, too. Mine is usually along the lines of... "(I, we) were gonna need one anyway but this one was...(say it with me now) ON SALE!!!" So, I saved him money. He doesn't buy it either, especially when it's something like yet another purse or pair of shoes but, bless his heart, he doesn't get mad either.

Lately "Toots' can't come home without somethin' for my youngest granddaughter.
The latest binge has been those Pet Store miniatures. Cripes, we must have over a hundred of the damn things scattered to and fro.
I think it's more of an evil plot to make sure Pa Pa steps on them in his bare feet while letting the dogs out in the middle of the night to do their business! I'm thinkin' the 2 year old is tryin' to learn new four letter words! But then, I've always thought they were out to get me!

I find it hard to believe an American President would put himself above the country! This prick is a traitor as far as I'm concerned!
And the DUmmies wanted to impeach George W!!!!! He did nothing but treat the office with the reverence and respect it deserved. This asshat is trying to dismantle the country from the top down!
Here's hoping we have put enough pressure on the limpdicks in congress to make them see the light. If not, it's gonna be damn near time to pay 'em all a visit with tar, feathers, and a rail!! Enough is enough!
How can our governing body just ignore us like this? These wastes of air have the gall to tell me what is in my best interest! The only person or persons that get to tell me that is "Toots", "Ma" or "Doc"! Everyone else can piss up a rope!

You know...I was wondering about this last night.
Is any of what he - or Congress - doing impeachable offenses.
Several talking heads are saying that some of the processes that may be used are not constitutional.
Obama has already been caught in several lies too.
As an aside....has anyone wondered, besides me....just how much taxpayer money is being spent for him to fly all over the countryside "campaigning" this health care bill. He's been somewhere, other than DC, about every other day for the last 2-3 weeks.

More like 6 to 8 months! This empty suit hasn't quit campaigning yet! He has to be the sorriest excuse for a president in our country's existence! I'm all for the tar and feathers! The sooner the better!

I agree that's it's been months - really ever since he was sworn in - that he's been all over the place. But it just seems the last couple weeks/month...he's out almost every day.
