Tiger Woods intends to end three months of silence by apologizing on Friday, the first time he will be seen in public since a Thanksgiving car crash started a domino effect of sexual allegations against him.
Woods is expected to speak on Friday at 11 a.m. for a mere five minutes from the PGA's headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
"This is all about the next step," Mark Steinberg, his agent, told The Associated Press. "He's looking forward to it."
In a statement, Steinberg said he would speak to a "small group of friends, colleagues and close associates" and that he "willl discuss his past and his future and he plans to apologize for his behavior."
"While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between he and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him. He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends and that's what he's going to discuss," the statement said.
Steinberg said the Friday event will not be a news conference, suggesting that questions will be limited. A small group of reporters will be allowed to attend while others can watch from a nearby conference center on a televised feed.

I was a terrible golfer but I wrote the club's shows.
Call me crazy but I hope Tiger comes back to golf and remains an exciting golfer. And I hope that beautiful family stays together..... :heart:

For the months he's been away, sports writers, pundits, PR people, psycologysts, etc. have been writing and spouting that Tiger MUST make a public apology. Now you ask, why should he...LOL

Hi,
I can think of two reasons Tiger will apologize:
1. The public was fool enought to put him on a pedastal with unrealistic expectations.
2. His real goal in my opinion is to get this crap to stop, change the subject and discuss golf.
Now if I were to guess, somewhere toward the end of the news conference he will make it very clear that he has no intention of answering any further questions on the subject in the future....hoping it will all go away.

He wants to be able to come back to playing golf....and the pro golf community wants him back....because his presence on the golf course brings in viewers.
That being said....I don't think the pro golf community wants each golf tournament to be about Tiger's sex life, marriage, divorce or babies with prostitutes.
For the most part...with the exception of John Daly and a few incidents when Greg Norman has made news (Clinton falling at his home, divorce and marriage to Chris Everett and their divorce)....golfers don't make the gossip/scandal news. They play golf, practice golf, get married, play golf, practice golf, have children, play golf, practice golf.
Tiger's got himself in a mess and now he's doing damage repair. Or rather trying to.
This press conference...while it may be part of his treatment process ( :whatever: ) ....isn't going to do anything except make the press/scandal rags salivate even more.
But just how many male golfers sitting at home watching these tournaments....are just all that interested in Tiger's sex life?
The guys that I know....including my other half....want to see well played golf and hear well done commentating . Not hear all the latest news on Tiger's sex life.

Bingo. The golfing world - PGA, ESPN, et. al. - have appealed to him to man up and get his ass back to the golf course.
There's a lot of money to be made when he's swinging a club. Phil Mickelson is but a bit playah in that sense.

Their "affair" was in California, some talking heads mentioned palimony. That's what she is after. imo

Well said. Players on the pro tour want him back because of all the sponsors/money he brings to the game. I have never liked Tiger because I think he lacks class. Cursing and throwing clubs is bs and the chickenshits at the PGA should fine him when he does so.
The press are scumbags in that they would rather write about someones failings rather than something positive. If him and his wife can work things out, more power to him. That would be the best outcome for his family. He should can his partying days. I was a club golf pro for 10 years and the opportunities/temptations are too great.
