DUmmy Roon is the queer who recently made a post to brag about being propositioned at a leather bar full of perverts. I have no experience in that arena, but my impression is that it's not really a major accomplishment. Anyway, he was proud of it. Tonight he spins a grocery bouncy. This experience is even less notable than his homo thrill:

The Grocery Express Lane...15 Items or Less..
I did a little grocery shopping and was behind this lady in the express lane..She was carefully monitoring each item as it was rung up. She had a problem with the grapefruit,it was costing more. The clerk calls produce and asks. She had the wrong grapefruit, produce will send the one that was on sale. We wait and wait. Finally! Produce shows up with the cheaper grapefruit. The lady didn't like the way they looked and decided not to get any grapefruit at all. So produce re-stocks them.
Ring! Ring! Ring! Finally they empty her basket..but wait!! She has one more request! She needs four packs of cigarettes. The cigs are kept in a cage down by customer service and he sends a bagger down to get them....we wait and wait. (it's been about 12 minutes by this time)FINALLY!! She gets her smokes...she gets to total of her purchases....
Then she gets out her checkbook..................................

Customers usually refer to DUmmy skygazer as "that surly clerk":

1. This is the same lady who if she's standing in line
And the line isn't moving extremely rapidly will yell bloody murder for another checker to be called because she's in a hurry.
I work in a grocery store. I've seen it all.
Queer DUmmy Roon gets DUmbfounded easily:

3. I witnessed that for the first time a couple of months ago!!
I was dumbfounded in shock. Next time I will be prepared, I will tell them that they are being rude.
DUmmy hobbitnumbers spins a much better bouncy. No cops, bushes, or conversions, but he's got the applause:

2. I got stuck behind one that was in the 10 items or less cash only lane.
She had about 25 items, then whips out her checkbook. When the cashier pointed that out to her she got on her high horse and demanded to speak to the manager. He just gave her a look and pointed at his name tag and asked her what does this say-he was the manager, he was filling in. She got mad and stomped off, leaving everything behind. As she left I gave a big round of applause and the people behind me in line joined in. You could see her cringe.
DUmmy Snowball is a prick:

4. I always look at those check writers like what century are you in?
I shouldn't talk because I'm sure my Mom does it too, but it is so irritating. I admit, I'm in a hurry in everything I do and need to slow down and be more patient.

7. I don't mind them if they have the sense to begin writing
while their stuff is being rung up. But the ones who wait until the very end to even start irritate the snot out of me. I'll even say something if I can see they're going to write one - "You can begin filling out your check while I take care of this."
For several years, I've used a debit card 100% of the time. Between that and online bill payment, I very rarely have to write a check. But I think I'll start uisng checks at the grocery store. It pisses off DUmmies.

Buy magazines with Glenn Beck on the cover, and write separate checks for each. lol

Life would flow a lot smoother if stores didn't have to pretend cigarettes are radio active. I swear I saw a clerk put on latex gloves before handling two packs of Kools.
If waiting for the customer in front of you to get her cigarettes gets your goat, don't blame the consumer. Blame a stupid liberal.
-
Well....bouncy or not, it is annoying as hell when people abuse the "Express Lanes".........particulary some clown with fifteen items over the limit, and writing a check in a lane that is clearly marked "cash, credit or debit cards only"......

Twice in the past few months I've been in line with a $200 cart, and had a clerk wave me into his empty express lane. Of course, as soon as the checkout starts, a couple of people with just a few items show up. I'm sure they think I'm being a jerk. Que sera sera. They shoulda been quicker.

That's happened to me more than once. Oh well.
I also use the self checkout. I think its funny to watch people line up five deep at other scanners to avoid being behind me. I have an electric cart, so everyone assumes I will be slow and unfamiliar with the technology.

Our local Wally*World has a couple of dozen checkout lanes and only one has cigarettes. It's stupid.

In all fairness, I usually see this when the lines are stacked 5 deep on 3 registers and the DUmb**** managers have their fingers up their......... and refuse to call another checker, or do the damn job themselves.

Tell me about it. I used to work at Wallyworld as an overnight cashier, and that lane was the ONLY lane open....
I never knew there were so many different kinds of cigarettes. If I couldn't find what they wanted, I told them to point them out to me....

You know why they only have one lane? Theft prevention. Pain in the ass, but it is what it is.

That's a little extreme. Maybe they had a severe menthol allergy? I had a checker treat a jar of peanut butter the same, turns out she had a peanut allergy.

WTF??? These people have never heard of self-scan lanes? About the only chain I've seen that doesn't have them is Market Basket.
But for the record, I avoid that place like the plague on the first weekend of the month.

The DUmmies will not use those evil self serve lanes since they take away cashier jobs. :banghead:
I use them whenever I can just to avoid the situation that the DUmmie is talking about.

I actually only know of two store around here that has a self scan lane. Home Depot has them, and the Safeway (grocery store) near my work has them. The Safeway near my house doesn't.

I have to say that there are some pretty idiotic people in the world.
The other night in the local Hannaford a guy in an express lane paid with a debit card.
The machine will ask if you want cash back,he did...$200.00.
Needless to say that stalled everything as they had to pull the service leader from her lane to go to the back to get money to keep the drawer operating.
This is a small town and in the early evening so not a lot of staff is needed.
That one little stunt left lanes with 10 people backed up in them.
I cringe if something I have doesn`t scan right and a price check is called while people are behind me waiting.
This guy was oblivious.

Last night at Publix we got behind a woman who had her groceries and stuff on the conveyor and separated into 3 orders. One was for food stamps the other WICK I believe and the other was stuff she had to use her own money for. Now if a DUmmy got behind her would he or she bitch that it took forever to ring her up? I guarantee if the dummy bitched at DU about it he or she would get trashed by the other primitives.
-
I stopped at a gas station this morning and hit the Pay-at-the-Pump. It told me to come in and see the attendant. If I'd wanted to come inside I would have in the first place.
I left, screw 'em, if their equipment is broken then close down.
-

When I go to Wal-Mat there is someone near the exit that checks random reciepts. They are part of theft prevention, that is their only point.

I get those here as well. The last one had a baby with a diamond stud in his ear and drinking some sort of red substance out of his bottle. Kid did not look more than 6 months old. Mom also managed to fit a 3 sizes too small Obama shirt around her well fed girth. She managed to hold up the line for a while when she wanted to argue with the checker about something not being on the list for food stamps.

Publix?? They're the ones importing workers and selling Calendars that replaced Pearl Harbor Day with an Islamic Holy Day aren't they?

I just found out!!
Aldi is coming to Irving!!! Aldi is coming to Irving!!!
April 15th!!
and then Carrollton on May 13!!!
Aldi invades Texas!!
-
Congratulations?
There is an Aldi down the street from here. I was there once, but wasn't impressed. Maybe it was the run-down building and generally shabby area the store is in, but it didn't look any different from other dollar-store and bulk grocery stores around here. Considering the neighborhood, I think I'd gladly pay higher prices to NOT go there.

lol. A few years back DFW was the most competitive market in the country for grocery stores and it was hard for them to make much profit, chains came and went. But since Minyard sold out and Wal-Mart is now a big grocery seller its probably no different than other places.
-
Wal-Mart is okay as long as you don't need fresh produce or meat... I'd go somewhere else for that. You CAN get fresh plantains at the W-M here, so that's not too bad.

We've got one about five miles from me, on US 9. I've been there once. This week, my wife was mentioning some of the prices for fresh vegetables (yes, I knew enough to use the full word) as "steals." She's right. Payday is this week, and we'll be stocking up.

I guess I got distracted by the pallet of Ramen Noodles sitting in the middle of the floor, keeping an eye out for rats, and the screaming anchor-babies running around while their mothers ignored them to notice anything positive about the store.

Shame, it used to be a nice neighborhood 15 years ago. Now, not so much.
Si, se puede!

I get meat and produce at our Wal-Mart, and I've never had a problem with it. Prices are better than the local grocery stores, and the quality is the same if not better.
Of course, I'd love to have a Wegman's closer....*drool*

Our Walmart also has pretty good meats, but their prices are a little higher than the other store we also shop at.

The closest Wegmans to me is 2 hours away. :(
I was shocked when I went in the one in Fredericksburg. An outstanding selection and incredible customer service. Is it to good to be true?
-
Our walmart has great meat and produce too. A lot of the produce comes from local farmers in the spring and summer.
-
And of course pointing out getting stuck behind a family with a vision card paying for allowed items with that and then whipping out cash for the booze and smokes is not allowed over there.
-
I got behind a chick at Sam's (when I was in a wicked hurry, of course), who proceeded to pay in small increments over several debit or gift cards. $5 here, $12 on another, $7 on another, etc.
The annoying thing about Aldi's is the no bags. If you don't remember to bring your own, you'll have all these various items rolling around your car floor. I was quite happy with their produce quality and prices, and the meats (like a pork roast) were just fine.

There use to be a store here that gave their boxes away for customers to use, it was pretty cool. You could buy a paper sack for a nickel. That was interesting.

NO! It is real!
They are consistently one of the best companies to work for (per Fortune or Forbes, one of those two) and not only are their prices good, their customer service is...phenomenal. I have never, ever had a bad experience there. Their store brand is oftentimes better than the name brands!
Wegmans is my happy place. I happily travel half an hour (and pay a $2 toll both ways!) to shop there.

I completely agree -- Wegmans IS excellent! They're competitive with the other supermarkets, and yes, their store brand items are very high quality (no I don't work for them!).

Wow. I went to a Wegmans a couple of years ago when I was visiting my Step-Mom. Just south of Woodbridge, VA on 95. Man. Now that was a store. I have seen some pretty dang cool grocery stores. Wegmans beats them all.

My cousin in New Jersey uses Wegmans as her regular grocery store. She is dead to me now. LOL

heh. My Step-Mom only goes there to meet a friend for lunch, or when she goes to Quantico, to get something special, so I still talk to her.
If they had Wegmans here, I would go very rarely. The durn thing would be packed, and I don't like crowds of people more than I like cool grocery stores.

It's that way here too.....except the customer barely speaks English.
Sometimes it's just better to opt for a longer line....
