(http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/7203/162394-40887-grand-moff-tarkin_super.jpg) "The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I've just received word that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently... The regional governors now have direct control over their systems. Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of this battlestation."

OH. SHIT.
-
It can serve some valuable purposes, as long as it isn't dominated by Democrats. If that happened, it would be indistinguishable from a Mafia Don's war council with his Capos and Consiglieri.
-
The Emperor: [to the Senate]: In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire, for a safe and secure society which I assure you will last for ten thousand years.
[Senate fills with enormous applause]
Padmé: [to Bail Organa]: So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause.

]: So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause.
You said it sister.

Another nail in the coffin of the United States of America.
A council of 10 governors out of 50, appointed by the President?
Same party or not they will all be from Blue states having governors with distict liberal leanings.
-
5 liberals and 5 blue state RINO's.....the camps must just about ready, huh?

DAT, as I see it, the chances of that are exactly two:
1) Slim
2) None
Slim's from Australia, and he's going back there.

I wonder if Rick Perry is up for consideration...............I kind of doubt it.
Come on down to Texas - we've got plenty of room and we're lobbying to put up a border fence - along the northern and eastern borders!

"By the authority vested in me as President by theConstitution..."
Where in the Constitution?
"(e)
The Council may establish a charter that is consistent with the terms of this order to refine further its purpose, scope, and objectives and to allocate duties, as appropriate, among members."
Refine it's scope? That's pretty vague. What's already in there is bad.
"(c)
This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person."
He thinks this will keep it from being challenged?
The quote about liberty dying to thunderous applause is sad, but it seems to fit.

if you're surprised, you're dumb.

It is with great reluctance that I have agreed to this calling. I love democracy. I love the Republic. The powers you give me I will lay down when this crisis has be abated! My first act, with this new authority, is to create a Grand Army of the Republic, to counter the increasing threat of the Separatists.

“(d) synchronization and integration of State and Federalmilitary activities in the United States; andâ€

Sounds like a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act which was passed to substantially limit the powers of the federal government to use the military for law enforcement.

to which I respond... "so? why does that matter?"

It matters, because it used to stand in the way of an out of control federal government using the military in ways the founders never intended, against the civilian populace.

Actually, no... it doesn't matter. They don't care about violating COTUS, so why would they care about PC? They don't. Very few people in the country care about it or even know about it... so in the end, it doesn't matter.

It matters because when Lord Zero plunges this country into chaos the likes of which few of us have ever known before, it will be one more charge for him to defend against at his trial for treason. One more knot in the proverbial hangman's rope.

Nice pipe dream. No offense, I would love to see that, but this is meaningless. Nobody cares. Your congress doesn't care. Your state reps don't care. 90% of the citizens don't care about this. It doesn't matter anymore.
And if you honestly think they'll charge Obama with treason, I think you'll be disappointed.

I honestly believe the majority of them will be standing trial with him for treason. You don't plunge this country into the kind of chaos that Lord Zero and his gang have been driving us to without consequences.

Hope you're right, believe you're wrong.
Every generation says the one before fawked this place up. Truth to that. We are more fawked up than we were 10 years ago, sure, but it's all relative, so it frankly doesn't mean anything anymore. Cynical? perhaps. Realistic? Well.. look at history.

Tell me about it. I pray every night that the country doesn't go down that road, because we'll all see some awful ugly shit before it's over. Unfortunately, being a christian, I know that the scriptures say that before the Lord comes again, Israel must stand alone against the whole world, and since we - the United States - have been Israel's strongest ally since damned near her inception, the insanity I believe Lord Zero is driving us to is just about the one sure way to take us out of the picture and permit prophesy to be fulfilled.

I'm hearing some serious rumbles about this 'council' and Posse Comitatus.
-
Nixon is actually not a bad guy, for a Democrat anyway, and everyone knows Gregoire is a trainwreck. I'm not familiar with the rest of them.
-
Governor James H. Douglas, Co-Chair, Council of Governors R-Vermont
Governor Chris Gregoire, Co-Chair, Council of Governors D-Washington
Governor Janice K. Brewer, Member, Council of Governors R-Arizona, took over for Incompitano
Governor Luis G. Fortuño, Member, Council of Governors R- Puerto Rico...
Governor Brad Henry, Member, Council of Governors D-Oklahoma

Five of each. What's the over/under on Obambi pulling the Repubs aside and saying some form of "I won. Get over it" to try and browbeat them?
-
Beverly Eaves Perdue is Democrat governor of NORTH CAROLINA.....we got enough crazy democrats in SC without borrowing any from NC.

My bad. Still a little hung over. You have to deal with Bauer, so my apologies.

I merged these two topics.

Only thing I can say about Bev is she's pro military

No governors from border states?

Unless they border the Atlantic or Pacific oceans, or Lake Michigan, Lord Zero isn't interested in the 'Outer Rim' Governors and what they might have to say.

Yeah it's not like there's a big concern about terrorist crossing our porous land borders, and maybe bering a couple of nukes or dirty bombs in with them.
