Signed up for DSL - only option I can get here in the country.
Signed up for PRICE FOR LIFE six months ago, which required a two year commitment. I can live with that; it's my only option. I added a home phone for $9.99.
Latest bill is 65% higher than last bill. 65%!!!! DSL increased by 100%! FAWK THAT! :redbird: :redbird: :redbird:

Total breach.. Sadly, I just canceled my air-card, too. :(
Can't get cable out here. I've talked to Comcast a few times and they just respond with "you live... where?"

i wasn't able to get DSL in my nieghborhood... I had to spend the extra money for cable.

Can you go satellite? That's what my friends who live 10 to 40 some miles from towns do. It's not perfect, and the initial outlay for equipment is steep, but it works well enough. As well as satellite TV.

I did DirectWay back in '02. Technology is horrible for what I need. Download speeds were okay - in clear weather. But upload is horribly slow due to microwave strength limitations imposed by the FCC. So it was decent for browsing, but VPN, Office Communications Server or any web apps fail miserably. Plus... it's friggen expensive!

We had radio internet for a few years and it was great, but they switched owners and went kaput. Now our only option is satellite. We tried WildBlue thru DirecTV- for 3 hours. Terrible. Using HughesNet now; it's ok but expensive.

UN-FAWKING-BELIEVABLE!
pick up the mail today. There's another overdue statement. WTF? I just got off the phone with them, got everything clearned up three weeks ago. And this bill is 90% higher than it's supposed to be! I haven't even received a bill from them in the mean time.
Add to that the fact that their call center is only open until 5pm, and it's fawking impossible to do anything about it..
But this time, I'm contacting the Attorney General. I received this notice on 12/29... and it says it has to be paid by 12/31 or they're going to cut off service. That's physically impossible to send them a check via USPS and meet that date. I'm PIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSED.

Can you expense some of your cost, seeing as you work from home??
-
I get a stipend. But it doesn't cover the full cost, and sure as heck doesn't cover a 90% price increase. And even if the boss covered 100%, I'd still be bitching. Qwest clearly has their collective heads up their...

When my ex and I moved to Ramsey, I TRIED to ask the cable company about telephone & internet. The moron I spoke with denied any CATV out there at all. I was stuck going with Qwest DSL. After two weeks of piss poor troubleshooting by their "techs" (I use that term loosely) I finally got fed up and called Comcast and asked them if they were sure they didn't have phone & internet?? Finally someone knew wtf they were doing. I went down there to their office (20+ miles) and got a cable modem that evening. I was up and running within 10 mins of my return home. Even then, Comcast wasn't without it's problems, but they were sure better than Qwest.
