From Rick Moran at Pajamas Media, December 4, 2009
I didn’t want to write about Sarah Palin anymore.
Really, I didn’t want to. God, I didn’t want to. But every time I think I’m out, she pulls me back in.
Face it, my friends. If Sarah Palin’s nugatory understanding of everything from foreign affairs to economic matters doesn’t cause you concern, if her predilection to expand, exaggerate, or fudge the truth about herself and her past statements hasn’t yet convinced you that she is a lightweight prevaricator and doesn’t deserve your support, then this exchange with conservative talker Rusty Humphries should change your mind:

If she is a lightweight, what do you call a dummie like Obama who is nothing but a shuck and jive community organizer.

More Palin hate I see... :whatever: One trick pony.

Rick Moran might hate Palin. He's way over the top at times.
I don't hate Palin. I just find many of her supporters to be quite irrational.

I find irrational posts that are clearly anti-conservative, with no substance, statement or purpose to be completely irrational. That's just me.
-
I think it's irrational for a democrat to pose as a conservative on a conservative site and not expect to be unveiled. Especially when he posts irrational comments about a conservative public person that is well liked amoung her base...
Maybe I'm being irrational?

I'm a lifelong Republican and I've always voted Republican. I don't believe she will run for president, but if she does - and wins the nomination, I'll vote for her.
Maybe I'm being irrational?
Yes, you are. But you have plenty of company.

That questions wasn't really a question...I forgot to include the smiley. :thatsright:
But you're all over the place...you obviously hate her, but then you say you'll vote for her... :mental:
-
Yeah, conservatism is such an "over the top" concept. And if you want irrational supporters, the Ron Paul forums are thataway---->

being republican has nothing to do with being a conservative. Which is clear by your posts.

Golem,
I won't go far as to say that you hate Palin, but based on the tone of most of your posts here, it is seems that you don't really like her.

I really don't dislike her. I want her to make plenty of money writing books, making personal appearances, etc. My argument has always been with her more fanatical supporters. If you're not one of them, then you shouldn't be offended by my comments.

Is Rusty Humphries still around? I used to listen to him when he was local in Reno then one day he was whining that he had to work on leap day in 2000 after that I thought the guy was a putz.

Well, you haven't exactly been very clear on what you mean when you say her fanatical supporters. I like her views and what she stands for as far as conservatism goes.
Perhaps myself and others would better understand your point if you were to convey a few examples of words or actions from her so called fanatical supporters.

The personal attacks on this and other threads should suffice.

The personal attacks on this and other threads should suffice.
So because people call you out on your bias and threads w/o (frankly) purpose, everyone is a "fanatical Palin supporter?" Really?

Interesting choice of user names. A golem is an artificial person, made of non human materials.
So what is he saying about himself with that user name?
-
The personal attacks on this and other threads should suffice.
Your original posts about Palin supporters were written in such a fashion that it was very easy for folks to interpret that you meant all Palin supporters of any sort.
That is why I mentioned you perhaps posting actual examples from those you view as fanatical Palin supporters, to clarify exactly what sort of fanatics you are speaking of.
You know me well enough by now, or at least you should, to know that I am not setting you up for some sort of "GOTCHA" moment.

I know exactly what a golem is. I picked the name because I like it.

Very few people here use their real name as their screen name. I personally don't usually try to read into the deeper meaning of them, if one exists.

The examples on this board would be where people called me a liberal or a Democrat because they didn't like what I said.
The most extreme examples, though, come from other boards, which I won't name publicly here. However, I'll gladly PM the info to you.

Golem, as it stands now, who would you prefer for a 012 run?
$10 says Ron Paul. :-)

I'll take your word for it. I gave you an honest assessment. I have no reason to lie to you about it.
The examples on this board would be where people called me a liberal or a Democrat because they didn't like what I said. We've had a recent influx of trolls lately, folks are a bit "cautious" with the credibility of newbies.
The most extreme examples, though, come from other boards, which I won't name publicly here. However, I'll gladly PM the info to you. Heh heh... I bet I can name at least one. Probably the same one that we both have been banned from by over zealous moderators that do NOT like to have their political views challanged.
-
$10 says Ron Paul. :-)
I'll take that bet. Pay up with cash or certified check.
-
Golem, as it stands now, who would you prefer for a 012 run?
First of all, I don't believe that the following people will run:
Cheney
Gingrich
Huckabee
Palin
Of the remaining who I've heard mentioned as possibilities, nobody turns me on.
But that's the way it usually is with me.

$10 says Ron Paul. :-)
You lose. And bite your tongue. :-)

I'll see your ten dollars and raise you a dirty movie and a six pack of Miller.

People call you a liberal not because they don't like what you say, but because you attack conservatives/conservatism in almost every post. Conservatives don't attack conservatism. Seems, by your own statements, that this is a trend?
-
I'll see your ten dollars and raise you a dirty movie and a six pack of Miller.
Will you take a six pack that has been in the fridge since the beginning of oct? :-)
It was an 18 pack and there are about 12 left. :lmao:
-
I gave you an honest assessment. I have no reason to lie to you about it.
I know.
I wan't going to go back and check my previous posts.

Wait you aren't a ron bot?

OK...some yes or no questions.
Are you pro-life?
Are you for the protection of 2nd ammendment rights?
Are you for domestic oil drilling?
Are you for tax cuts for all sectors, including corporate?
Are you for amnesty for illegal or undocumented workers?
Are you for socialized medicine?
For the war in Iraq?
For the war in Afghanistan?
Do you think we should follow and kill Al Quaeda operatives wherever they go, including Somalia?B
Believe in Affirmative Action?
Do you agree with the Death Penalty?
Do you believe in a free market?
Believe there is such a thing as human caused Global Warming?
Is the United Nations necessary?
Yes or No please...
-
Wait you aren't a ron bot?
:-)
Where did you ever get that idea. I'm not an isolationist.
-
I'm going to answer these literally, for now. I will qualify them later if I need to:
Are you pro-life? Yes
Are you for the protection of 2nd ammendment rights? Yes
Are you for domestic oil drilling? Yes
Are you for tax cuts for all sectors, including corporate? Yes
Are you for amnesty for illegal or undocumented workers? No

Believe in Affirmative Action? No
Do you agree with the Death Penalty? Yes
Do you believe in a free market? Yes
Believe there is such a thing as human caused Global Warming? I doubt it, but I really don't know.
Is the United Nations necessary? Maybe. But not as a world government, of course. They're a real pain in the ass at times.

Moran seems to have criticism for just about everyone on the right....this is one post, in others he seems supportive of Obama. Then again, he probably keeps PJM fair and balanced ?

I always check out authors' blogs when their "opinionating" seems a little slanted. Would Moran be the equivalent of a Dick Morris ?
-
Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.
.....and this is worth starting a thread over?

Rick Moran might hate Palin. He's way over the top at times.
I don't hate Palin. I just find many of her supporters to be quite irrational.
Hi,
I am a true blue Palin supporter. Try this on for irrational:
1. I do not believe that anyone who has been a member of congress for 30 years is the least bit qualified to be president, as a matter of fact they are more than likely disqualified. Tell me about your job experience please... Well I spent my life on a committee. We pissed away trillions of dollars of the taxpayers money, a lot of it on ourselves by voting ourselves perks and things that we did not deserve. In addition we have never been accountable because when one is on a committee you can always blame it on "they". Basically we have a history of no courage or fortitude, almost always taking the easy way out and spending more than we make. Some of us were quite proud during the Reagan years of making sure we wasted billions of the taxpayer's money because we wanted to make sure the public never, ever realized that his tax cuts really worked so we had to make sure he had big deficits.
I happen to believe that three of the four people running in the last race had zero qualifications for the job. Had they ever run a business successfully? Had they ever run a city, county, bus lines, hamburger stand? A lifetime of sitting on a committee does not qualify one to be an executive any more than a baseball writer is qualified to be a ball player. I will give McCain some credit for leadership as a young man 40 years ago but what the hell qualified Biden or BO?
2. There is a hell of a big difference between activity and accomplishment. I will let an Alaskan make my point for me about Palin. This appears on page 405 of her excellent book:
"The last 45 of my 66 years I've spent in a commercial fishing town in Alaska. I understand Alaska politics but never understood national politics well until this last year. Here's the breaking point: Neither side of the Palin controversy gets It's not about persona, style, rhetoric, its about doing things. Even Palin supporters never mention the things that I'm about to mention here.
1- Democrats forget when Palin was the Darling of the Democrats, because as soon as Palin took the Governors office away from a fellow Republican and tough SOB, Frank Murkowski, she tore into the Republicans Corrupt Bastards Club (CBC) and sent them packing. Many of them are now residing in State housing and wearing orange jump suits. The Democrats reacted by skipping around the yard, throwing confetti and singing la la la la (well, you know how they are). Name another governor in this country that has ever done anything similar. But while you're thinking, I'll continue.
2- Now with the CBC gone, there were fewer Alaskan politicians to protect the huge, giant oil companies here. So, she constructed and enacted a new system of splitting the oil profits called ACES. Exxon (the biggest corporation in the world) protested and Sarah told them don't let the door hit you in the stern on your way out. They stayed, and Alaska residents went from being merely wealthy to being filthy rich. Of course the other huge international oil companies meekly fell in line. Again, give me the name of any other governor in the country that has done anything similar.
3- The other thing she did when she walked into the governors office is she got the list of State requests for federal funding for projects, known as pork. She went through the list, took 85% of them and placed them in the when-hell-freezes-over stack. She let locals know that if we need something built, well pay for it ourselves. Maybe she figured she could use the money she got from selling the previous governors jet because it was extravagant. Maybe she could use the money she saved by dismissing the governor's cook (remarking that she could cook for her own family), giving back the State vehicle issued to her, maintaining that she already had a car, and dismissing her State provided security force (never mentioning, I imagine, that she's packing heat herself). I'm still waiting to hear the names of those other governors.
4- Now, even with her much-ridiculed gosh and golly mannerism, she also managed to put together a totally new approach to getting a natural gas pipeline built which will be the biggest private construction project in the history of North America. No one else could do it although they tried. If that doesn't impress you, then you're trying too hard to be unimpressed while watching her do things like this while baking up a batch of brownies with her other hand.
5- For 30 years, Exxon held a lease to do exploratory drilling at a place called Point Thompson. They made excuses the entire time why they couldn't start drilling. In truth they were holding it like an investment. No governor for 30 years could make them get started. This summer, she told them she was revoking their lease and kicking them out. They protested and threatened court action. She shrugged and reminded them that she knew the way to the court house. Alaska won again.
6- President Obama wants the nation to be on 25% renewable resources for electricity by 2025. Sarah went to the legislature and submitted her plan for Alaska to be at 50% renewables by 2025. We are already at 25%. I can give you more specifics about things done, as opposed to style and persona . Everybody wants to be cool, sound cool, look cool. But that’s just a cover-up. I'm still waiting to hear from liberals the names of other governors who can match what mine has done in two and a half years. I wont be holding my breath.
By the way, she was content to to return to AK after the national election and go to work, but the haters wouldn't let her. Now these adolescent screechers are obviously not scuba divers. And no one ever told them what happens when you continually jab and pester a barracuda. Without warning, it will spin around and tear your face off. Shoulda known better.
As we have been saying for a long time, Sarah Palin was an incredibly effective Governor, and a true servant of the people. The kind of woman who isn't afraid of whatever challenge that faces her. As she has shown in the past few weeks, she is more than ready to take on big government, like she has big oil. And if Sarah Palin could tame Exxon-Mobil, I'm sure she will make quick work of D.C.!
BTW, even though she has given Exxon-Mobil absolute fits, they were more than happy to sign on as a partner in the Trans-Canada natural gas pipeline, her crowning achievement as Governor, that Dewey mentions in his letter.
People, like myself, who have followed Sarah for some time, understand the greatness of this woman. Sarah Palin is an American leader who has what is sorely needed today: The ability to get things done, good things for the people.
5412 talking now.... To me this is why the libs are terrified of her, both the establishment democrats and republicans have great cause for concern. She took the state budges and realized telling the department heads to cut expenses was impossible, they did not know how to do it. Just like you do at home when times are tough, she and her staff went through the budgets line by line and crossed out and questioned thousands of items and got them tossed out. Honestly I do not think government employees understood, much less even knew how to do that. They are so used to pissing away our tax dollars and not being held accountable they did not know know how to react.
In business we used to call that base line or zero based budgeting. You do not automatically get what you got last year, you start from zero and justify every dollar you need or you don't get it. We don't need Sarah, we need 1,000 Sarah's in government who think like that and have the skills to get it done. Unless, of course we are comfortable with trillion dollar deficits while congress votes themselves five new jets in the current budget.
If that is irrational, then so be it, I hope you found my post entertaining.

I think you hit the nail on the head. She is the only one that has a vison of what to do and how to do it, and has actually soved problems. Kinda like R.R.
I am a big fan of hers. God knows we need some new ideas to replace the crap both parties have been throwing at us.

Hi,
National Review has an article about Michael steele. His is abigger jerk than I relaized She would love to get the GOP fixed my fear is they will not let her.
She coudl make a fortune as a consultant to state governments showing them how to cut budget. She could fix CA in a hearbeat.

Palin is definitely one of the most worthy political players today. Anyone who looks at her actual accomplishments can easily see through the screen of lies the MSM tossed around her. She absolutely scares the wind out of all the lefty windbags. :evillaugh:

I did notice you choose to abstain from mentioning all the RATIONAL facts I presented in my post.

Fair enough. I thought your post was pretty rational. :cheersmate:
