A former death row inmate has been arrested after police charged him with helping another man rob an IHOP restaurant in Lake Wales.
Darryl Earl Moody, 47, spent about four years awaiting execution for the murder of a Bartow citrus grower. But his conviction and sentence were later overturned because of an illegal search.
Moody is now accused of serving as a getaway driver in the late-night robbery. He is charged with robbery with a firearm and false imprisonment. He was also arrested on charges of resisting an officer without violence and fleeing to elude.
