Title: Gas prices in your area
Post by: SaintLouieWoman on December 29, 2008, 08:23:31 PM
Couldn't believe it. SR and I were on the way to Costco, going a different way, and saw a Phillips station with the sign---regular, $1.23.

Can't tell you how quickly we pulled in.

The place closest to me is charging $1.35/gallon and some others are still at $1.49. How times have changed, where I think $1.49 is gouging.  :-)

Up to $1.79 here in L.A.

I was paying $1.25-1.30 in high school (15 years ago).  That's my watermark for "low" gas prices.  I think it's about $1.49 in the city and probably a quarter cheaper when you get out to Manchester or Tullahoma.  Diesel prices are outrageously low in the Oklahoma/ Kansas/ Nebraska/ South Dakota portion of the midwest.  San Diego has dirt-cheap diesel sellling at $2.11 a gallon, but we can't seem to crack the $2.50 mark.  There's a station that hasn't budged from their $2.75 price, but they probably don't sell much anyway.

I don't remember, but I think it was 1.59 on my way in to work this morning. Crazy times, I might just fire up my Ford Econoline Conversion Van and take a road trip somewhere. Who will have me?  :naughty:

Was $1.46 in Murfreesboro the week after Thanksgiving when I was there for the funeral.

$1.55 here in Eastern NC

I am so low on PTO, it's pathetic. If I go farther than the upper midwest, I need to fly.

$1.49 a gallon right now.

The year before I started driving, 1999, gas was about $.95 a gallon in NW Michigan.  Would be really nice to see it that low again, though I'm not complaining at all about the prices now.

I saw diesel for $2.39/gallon.

1999 was the huge Clinton oil glut (I'm only calling it that because he was President).  I remember that summer buying gas for 75 cents a gallon.

I saw diesel for $2.39/gallon.

That's about average, nationally.  The company I work for is a service provider to OTR and local fleets, so I get bombarded with diesel prices all day long.  Oklahoma and points north are the cheapest.  The lowest I've seen was $2.11 in San Diego.  Offroad diesel is under $2 right now.

Speaking of PTO (and gas), I think I'm going to take a couple weeks off some time around July or August.  Should have the old two-wheeled turd up and running by then and I want to go somewhere.  Poor thing was covered in ice this morning. :(

1.55 is the lowest in Savannah.
1.35 is the lowest in Atlanta.

It used to be reverse.  :(

$1.69 here for regular in Peoria. Not too bad considering we're one of the top 10 states when it comes to taxing gasoline.

Set up a profile at www.couchsurfing.com and I will approve you for a stay on my sofa.  :-)  Bring the family!

In Vegas, prices have been seen a little below $1.50.

Where I live, about 40 miles from Vegas, the prices are hanging at about 1.75ish.  Less competition here, but Smith's grocery store, gives you up to a 15 cent discount on gas, so have been paying $1.60.

From less people driving all summer, gas tax revenue is down....streets need repair...yada, yada...

$1.34/9 yesterday..........about $1.20 lower than I thought I'd ever see it again.

Look for Nancy and the Big O to tax it up to $2.50 if it stays down.

Scary thought, but probably accurate. I guess we'd best enjoy it while it lasts.

I paid $1.41 two weeks before Christmas, but it has risen since then and it's running around $1.55 now.  It's the holiday price gouge season.

I saw a station with diesel at $2.19 then a couple miles down the freeway it was $2.39 at a place.

Well, thank goodness with a diesel I only fill up every couple of weeks or so.   :-)

$1.65 in Palm Beach

I want to buy an SUV soon...but I'm afraid the gas prices will rise up again to make me regret it.

This summer they'll go up again, but there's no telling how much.

And FWIW, gas is anywhere between $1.49 and $1.57 a gallon here, with Diesel going for about $2.45 (yet strangely, heating oil still goes for $2.40 a gallon, and it's the SAME DAMNED THING, supposedly without the taxes.)

$1.55 here in Eastern NC

$1.57 in Western NC (Asheville area).  Go into the mountains where there's less competition and more tourists and it's probably higher.

Hurry up.  I have a guy ride coming up in June to New Mexico and Colorado.  Free lodging in New Mexico!

That's why I was amazed to find it Monday for $1.23 a gallon. I've seen more area stations with it for $1.29. My new (to me) all wheel drive car's mileage isn't quite as good as the previous car, so hope the prices remain low. I was a little surprised, as the new car is smaller than the older one. It must be that all wheel drive reducing the mileage.
