Men arrested after stealing/drinking $600 bottle of tequila
The Capital Times  —  9/22/2008 11:03 am

If you're going to get arrested for breaking into a restaurant, at least drink the most expensive liquor you can find.

Charles Lindsey, 41, no permanent address, and Bill Martin, 47, no permanent address, were arrested and tentatively charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into Frieda's Restaurant, 117 State St., Friday morning, drinking most of a $600 bottle of Herradura tequila and trying to get away with several other bottles of high-priced liquor before being spotted by the owner.

The owner called police after opening the door and seeing the suspects trying to leave the restaurant through another door. The expensive tequila bottle was sitting on the bar, three-quarters empty, and the owner told police the bottle was full prior to the burglary.

"The suspects appeared to be intoxicated when arrested," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

I heard this on the radio today!

The funniest part is that they are looking at felony grand theft charges because of the price tag. :-)

That stuff is about $30 at Abuelo's for a single snifter pour. What a couple of morons to be looking at time for a bottle of booze.

I don't know, if one is inclined to steal booze then I think one might as well steal a $600 bottle of tequila which is probably my favorite hard liquor.  Like when Cartman faked the end of the world for Butters so he could go to that Mexican restaurant for Kyle's birthday.

Yeah, but at least three to six months in the pokey for a great tequila bender? No way...

if one is a drifter or, as they say in the modern parlance, homeless, then that could be a great vacation plan.  Maybe it was a bucket list thing.

Yeah, it says they both had no permanent address. It is just two bums getting loaded up and their "punishment" will be 3 hots and a cot on the taxpayer's dime through the Wisconsin winter.

And according to the Farmer's it's going to be a doozy of a winter again.  At the same time, we have a catch and release program, but that might only apply to the most dangerous criminals.  They don't like to keep those guys in prison because they might cause trouble.
