First-hand report from Gestapo-occupied DC. It's not pretty.
My attorney daughter lives on Capitol Hill in DC, a block behind the Library of Congress. She calls us daily. This afternoon's call was not pleasant. Here is her report of life under the Gestapo.
DC RESTAURANTS report a 25% drop in business since the Gestapo appeared.
VIDEOING THE GESTAPO. Anyone who films the Gestapo is attacked, phone taken away, cuffed, and hauled off.
EASTERN MARKET. Daughter went to Eastern Market as she does every Saturday morning. Eastern Market is the only one of the old, original market houses remaining in DC. Farmers and other merchants rent space and sell their goods. The market itself is a big old brick building covering two blocks. It is surrounded by small shops, restaurants, and bars. Very friendly, convivial place, everyone loves it. She walks over on Saturday morning, eats breakfast, watches people while sipping coffee, shops for her week’s supply of vegetables, visits around, and comes home.
This morning the Gestapo was around Eastern Market. People would approach, see the Gestapo, turn around. Daughter went straight to the vegetable sellers, got her week’s veggies, and went home. She reported the crowd was well below normal.
HOMELESS. Homeless in DC have stuff – tents, backpacks, grocery carts, clothing, etc. The Gestapo spent yesterday throwing all the belongings from homeless people into trash trucks and hauling it away.
IT’S COMING. Daughter has been talking with many of her friends – all well-off professionals, men and women, white, Hispanic, Black, Muslim, some come from elsewhere, others are DC natives. All are pissed off beyond belief. Their consensus is that at some point, some serious shit will hit the fan – no one knows what will set it off, no one knows what it will be, no one knows what will be the response -- and they are betting it comes sooner rather than later.

With criminals being removed from the streets (300 arrested so far, https://www.theepochtimes.com/us/more-than-300-arrested-in-washington-amid-federal-crackdown-on-crime-bondi-5902481 ), restaurants and street markets are more likely to have increased business (except those that already were continually full, of course). Safer streets, normal people more willing to go out and about. So the 25% reduction in business claim is farcically absurd.

Considering how much of DC is leftist/left leaning and likely falling for the "Gestapo" rhetoric, a temporary drop wouldn't be surprising. But once people figure out they can go out and not be harassed by folks in need of mental health services as well as the homeless folks, I suspect business activity will go up, assuming it actually dropped to begin with.
These moonbats so desperately want a dictator to fight and rally against. They want to be oppressed so they can claim to be part of a great resistance that will be in the history books someday. In reality, if they faced real oppression, they would collapse in a corner and soak their pants. A real dictatorship would be opening fire, full auto, no rubber bullets on so many of these obnoxious "revolutionaries".

For any newbies here who do not understand the DUmbAsses' proclivity to lying, if the DUmbAsses had to choose between standing next to you and telling you the truth OR climbing a cactus naked to tell you a lie, you'd be seeing naked DUmbAsses almost every single time. OLY CRAP! Washington DC residents are flooding in support for President Trump's federalization of the District - this is absolute nightmare fuel for Dems.

This is in stark contrast to the nearly all-white paid protesting crowds who appeared in DC over the weekend. These people actually live here. And they support it - imagine that.

For those who do not know, our daughter has lived in the District of Columbia for close to 15 years, first in NW DC, for the past 12 years in NE on Capitol Hill.
Since federal law enforcement agencies and National Guardsmen were ordered into DC she has been describing to us life under an occupying force.
And now NG troops from three other states have been ordered into DC. Interesting to note that all three of these states have higher rates of every crime than does DC.
This occupation is not necessary, it is 100% wrong, it likely is not legal -- it is being done solely at the whim of an ignorant, incompetent fool.
Don't ask what I really think about it.

I built 2 tanks in DC in 1988. Me and one of my friends stopped at a red light after being at a bar and while stopped a prostitute came up and reached through my window trying to grab my crotch. I was looking the other way and just happened to catch movement right before she grabbed me.
I pushed her arm away and she OPENED MY DOOR! I was in the passenger seat and my buddy was an armor all freak. She was pushing me across the seat and I was yelling to my friend to drive! He kept saying the light is red, I can’t go and I told him “if you don’t go she’s going to get in!”
I was elbowing her in the head and it wasn’t slowing her down. He finally ran the light and we left her standing.

But it turns out the Post probably botched the data it was relying on to make this point. This was made clear in a letter to the editor by Ryan Bourne:
The Aug. 21 front-page article “D.C. restaurants suffer amid federal crackdown” badly overstated the impact of President Donald Trump’s federalization of D.C. police on restaurant attendance.
Buried in the article is a key point that undermines the headline: OpenTable’s daily data showing 20 percent to 31 percent drops in seated reservations compares this year’s Aug. 12-17 period with last year’s equivalent dates. But every single one of those 2024 numbers occurred during last year’s Restaurant Week, which always inflates reservations significantly. This year’s Summer Restaurant Week started one week later. That timing quirk alone makes the fall in the first week of federalization look far steeper than it really is.
Ordinarily I'd not attribute such a apples-plums comparison to malice when it could be due to stupidity, but since the WashPost would publish anything it thinks reflects badly on Trump, un-fact-checked, this anachronistic apples-plums comparison is almost certainly malicious.
