Never grab hold of a skillet that just came out of a

425 degree oven. It's my right hand. Does any one know how long it takes to heal from second degree
burns?

2. Ouch! So sorry that happened.

First time I used a cast iron skillet on the stove I grabbed the handle not realizing it would get hot too.

:???: I... its iron. Heats transfers.. You missed that day of Home Ec, didnt you?  :???:

32. If you remember to put them on, silicone handles work well

They are good up to 500F and work much better than using a towel or potholder

No. This is wrong. Listen up lurking rats. Gonna give you some real honest advice. So listen, and listen good.

Buy yourselves a set of high quality, thick, pot holders. The square ones. They fold easily enough that you can grab awkward shaped, screaming hot pans with a fair amount of ease, and you get a good grip.

Cloth pot holders, and cloth oven mitts are used daily in food businesses. Silicone ARE NOT. They are a hazard. You cant get a good grip, and they transfer heat to your hands way to fast.

Oh.. stop grabbing hot pans with your bare hands.

You're assuming most DUmmies have opposable thumbs.  And of course, on DU, if your right hand chooses to be identified as a left hand you have to respect that choice.

I'm sorry, but a day later, I still can't process the idea of a person not knowing that a skillet would be hot after sitting in a hot oven for a long period.

 :lmao:

I went back and looked, the mutt posted a picture, they have an electric stove.

But your point stands, based on the logic and intelligence of the Island Natives.  :naughty:

And these people believe themselves wise enough to dictate to others.

I don't know whether to double over laughing or puking.

They're the ultimate proof of the Dunning-Krueger effect. They think that because THEY can't get through life without nanny-state keepers to remind them that the skillet is going to be hot, then neither can you and I obviously.

Maybe we need a common sense label warning that the skillet may be hot just like a lawn mower or ladder that has numerous labels plastered everywhere.

They do seem to have that in common amongst them. I've noted many times that they extrapolate from the result of deficiencies they aren't even aware they have while assuming others are just like them...but it goes even farther.

Ask the burnt-paw DUmmy and it will tell you that they're much better, much smarter, and much wiser, than 'those cons', in spite of the obvious quantifiable (in this case by bandages) fact that they aren't.

I learned, when I was but a lad, things get hot around the oven and to always use mitts and stuff.

Is this the DUmmies first attempt at doing something like this?

It'll just reinforce his belief that he should subsist on a diet of McDonalds Quarter Pounders on the taxpayer's nickel in purpetuity.

Let me weave for you a tale of an actual recall.

Once upon a time, many, many years ago, the Misses bought one of those fancy "Ninja Blenders". They had only been on the Market for a short period of time. We got a notice of a recall...

What im getting ready to tell you, I swear, is the Gods honest truth..

The recall was to notify the customers.... "warning, sharp blades".  :lmao:

Puts a whole new light on them wanting to ban gas stoves, doesn't it?

25. Dang it!

I’ve done this exact thing more than once. Once I soaked my hand in ice water because it was the only way to dull the pain….I actually gave myself frostbite which made it all worse. So, don’t do that!

To his credit, a half cooked human hand is still more appetizing than the infamous "Puke Stew".

I think I told this story before, but these DU anecdotes remind me of one of my college professors talking about a woman he dated. She told him when she made cookies, they were always burnt. When she made mashed potatoes, they were always dry. She apparently never learned her lesson on how to avoid these mistakes.

I can't help but wonder where she is today, and what her DU name is.

I'm pretty sure I saw something like that 'puke stew' used to patch a leaking roof in a third world country

Had a Home Ec teacher admit to accidently leaving the cheese in the wrapper, when making a grilled cheese. I think you only make that mistake once.

It's a wonder these folks get thru life seeing how absolutely stupid they are with typical day to day events.
