well, not quite a hurricane, and happy hour is over now.
but I couldn't resist the play on words. so, what are y'all up to tonight? I am talkin' to y'all, and waiting
for the dodgers to come on.
-
I'm home from Happy Hour. We went to this cool wine bar.
Now, I'm home with a beer. :)

how was your b-day, Mia? very happy, I hope.
-
I am sitting here, wondering why my employer sent me home early (and shut the store down at 6 pm) as the storm isn't what we all thought it would be. :whatever: They were telling us earlier that Hanna had turned back towards Savannah, so they wanted us employees to go home and prepare for evacuating the area.
So glad I got beer this morning. :uhsure:

I did nothing for my birthday yesterday. Though my dad was extra sweet, he called me twice, sent me an email and mailed me a birthday card yesterday. I think he tries to makeup for my mom. :) It really made me smile when I got home and saw the card in the mail.
Tonight I "celebrated" with Brenda at the wine bar and then tomorrow I'll be hanging out with the usual friends to celebrate.
-
Is the party over here? Ok. :evillaugh:

hanna is a tease. she has been all over the place. she is like the hottest chick in a bar 15 minutes before it closes. she gets everyone's
attention, but you finally realize she is going to land someplace else. :-)

If you're here it's always a p-a-r-t-y. :evillaugh:

my mother is obsessive about cards on my birthday, and I have to admit, seeing her intentionally silly message in her handwriting always
makes me smile . . . no matter what kind of day I have had.

far be it for me to post competition against your awesome friday night threads. I gave that up long ago.
I just had a play on words that I couldn't resist. :-)

Sure, I heard from other friends. But you know, my dad was the topper yesterday. Oh, and he gave me my present last week, so on top of that he did all of yesterday.

this is going to sound stupid and square, and probably it will SCREW up my reputation, but the way I see it, anytime your parents make over
you, it's a pretty good day.

I certainly do not adore them. My parents have faults. Though as I get older, I see my dad clearly trying to be much better at showing his "love" of me towards me. If that makes sense. I really understand how much I mean to him and just a few years ago, well I didn't. He really tries his best.
My mom is a self-absorbed alcoholic. The only reason she told me happy birthday yesterday is because I called her about something else. *shrug*

my parents were morons when I was 20, but gradually became more and more intelligent until I hit 30. then, they became geniuses.
they must have taken courses or something :whatever:

No, my dad is a natural born asshole. I think I just understand him more and he's come to show his appreciation for his only child more. :)
Did I tell you that I found out that I'll be an excellent mom one day?

yep. the "mom tone of voice". but I think we would be interested in hearing it.

Sorry.
So, last weekend one aunt, uncle, cousin and fiance evacuated from Gustav. SE Texas was under a mandatory evacuation and they decided to come on up here. :-)
On Monday, they wanted to go to Cabelas. I've never been there, probably will never go back (it's a huge hunting/fishing store). But since they wanted to go, I wanted to go. Well, the oldest two nephews decided they wanted to go, and I wanted to give my brother and SIL and the baby a break and said I could take them.
This is the first time I've ever drove my nephews anywhere and been all on my own, besides babysitting at their house.
So there we are in Cabelas. My nephews are 5 & 7 years old. The 5 year old started the fighting. AND I grab him on the shoulder and lean over, and say in the serious-whisper-mom voice "I know there's not a timeout chair here, but I WILL FIND ONE IF I HAVE TO." He replies "yes ma'am."
That's the moment that I knew if I have kids I'll be a great mom. :-)

Yes, but I'm already willing to discipline when needed. Damnit, this is the conservative side slipping out. :asssmack:
