I'm worried the Supreme Court is lost.
It's hard to imagine that Kennedy and Ginsburg can hold out, or want to hold out, for 3 more years. I'm desperately hoping they can/will, but it seems unlikely. It's just so sad that everything we baby boomers fought so hard for, especially choice, will very possibly be completely dismantled in the near future.
If the worst happens and the court goes hard right for a generation, or two, perhaps we can combat it with legislation. But this 100% depends on taking back the House and Senate. Praying for the best case scenario, but very, very concerned.

Of course this is one of the main reasons Trump is the President and not Clinton.

3. In The Same Boat
MoonRiver - I'm also a boomer and I recently posted a blog entry in which I recounted all the advances flowing from the New Deal and the Warren Court. Republicans, I concluded, are hoping to reverse all of that, accomplishing judicially what they can't accomplish legislatively. That this should result, in large part, through votes cast by working class men and women would have been unimaginable when we were growing up.
Oh noes! A low count DUmmy posted a blog! Conservatives are screwed now!

5. Unfortunately, we may have to declare the House and and Senate as illegitimate
With each passing day with the House and Senate propping up Putinism Western Division, they are looking less and less like the bodies as described in Article I of the Constitution and thus have no legitimacy.
This is looking like this might be the only way to save the court.
Go ahead ck4829, decalre the House and Senate as illegitimate. Get it over with, work your magic! :stoner:

We have 7 1/2 more years, with a bit of luck we will get 3 or more conservatives on the bench. You all are worried about legislating from the bench, but I guess it is ok when it comes from all the liberal / progressive judges around the country pushing their agenda from the bench. :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh:

That's 15½ years, Grumpy.

Ruh-Rohhhhhh, Raggy! Somebody just woke up to reality. Note well, how (s)he regards Kennedy as a liberal. He is more of a fence-sitter or weather vane, but pointed the Lib/Prog way fairly often. OTOH, I don't think Kennedy perceives a need to keep the Trump-Barbarians out of the US Supreme Court the way Ginsburg probably does.
My groundless speculation is that Kennedy will resign fairly soon, well within Trump's first term so the Ds can't invoke the Biden Rule, but Ginsburg might hold out till the day she dies or a D is elected President, whichever comes first. If she holds out to the 2020 election and if Trump is reelected, that discouragement might result in her dying within a few weeks. I think it would be better for her and for her family if she resigned fairly soon - politics entirely aside - but I doubt she sees things that apolitically.

5. Unfortunately, we may have to declare the House and and Senate as illegitimate
Leaving aside some basic questions like 'How do you do that and who does it' for now, does that mean Trump can just pick somebody to fill Supreme Court vacancies and they're automatically in?
:-)

Yeppers! The Elbonians finally got their Commodore Pet and Atari 400 networked together and almost have the 10s of thousands of precincts' all hacked to vote for that notorious Repugnican, Alfred E. Newman!
ck#s, declare "illegitimate" whatever suits your fancy. Your "declarations" have as much power and meaning as do mine, zero. Except I understood that fact without having to be told.

5. Unfortunately, we may have to declare the House and and Senate as illegitimate
If you are going to crank up the machine to declare the House and and Senate as illegitimate, can you also fit in a provision to make Monday's illegitimate? I really hate Mondays and if we can get rid of them, that would be really terrific.

When you can't even call it what it is, and that is "the legalized aborting of unborn babies", and need to use benign descriptors such as "choice" in it's place, it tells me that even YOU know it's evil and wrong... what a disgrace.

You're right DUmmy, we'll get at least two SCOTUS picks.
How do you like the sound of "Justice Ted Cruz"???

Man wouldn't that be sweet?
Cruz is too damned stubborn and into politics though, he'll never go for it unless he loses his seat somehow.

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the message was lost.
For want of a message the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a nail.
Until you liberals figure out that Conservatism is the nail that holds the USA together, then you'll forever be wondering why and worrying about many things.

Speaking as one who was born during Eisenhower's first term, what do you mean, "We", Prog-Boy?! This boomer hopes and prays your nightmare comes true. How many babies did you make and help kill, Equine Boomer Anus?!

Or Trey Gowdy.
how about both? Cruz and Gowdy.

With Kennedy, I think he may have just been willing to let the chips fall where they may on his own retirement, without worrying about who would appoint his successor. Ginsburg, on the other hand, I'm pretty sure believed the polls and expected Hitlery to appoint her turtle and so held off her own retirement. Muahahahahahaaha, Ruthie!

The left already declared President Trump is illegitimate. How has that worked out for them?

Will this be announced on CNN and MSNBC? I do not recall anything in the constitution regarding declaring duly elected bodies of Congress illegitimate. So one is left to assume that you are talking about overthrowing the legitimate legislative branch of the US government.
Sounds like treason to me!!!
Screen shot sent to the Secret Service and FBI. Enjoy your stay in the federal gray bar hotel. :cheersmate:
Oh and while I am thinking about it... all your Supreme Court are belong to us.

We'll be among those getting a big tax break. We will give it to charity. I want to live in a civilized country, not one that kills the poor and disabled, while rewarding the rich.

There was no way I could morally justify doing anything else.

17. Frankly, I've always been stunned that a couple of Supreme Court judges
didn't retire early in Obama's terms(s) as a tactical move, just to allow Obama to appoint decent judges to replace them. I mean, if you are 75 or 80, why not retire a few years before you really want to, especially if it means non-crazy judges replace you?

They believed the MSM's fauxny polls and wanted Hilliary to appoint their successors.

This is after the USSC upholds state's rights to clear the dead and illegals off voter rolls, right? Cuz once that happens, the Dems go into true regional party status, maybe getting 25% of HoR seats (short term, since all the gibmedats will bail when the giveaways stop coming), and the Libertarian party will gain prominence.

Republicans, I concluded, are hoping to reverse all of that, accomplishing judicially what they can't accomplish legislatively. My irony meter turned into a supersonic turbine when I read this. Democrats own the patent for legislating from the bench!!!
That this should result, in large part, through votes cast by working class men and women would have been unimaginable when we were growing up. And just why might that be DUmmy? In the past, having had only the news Progs see fit to print available through the DNC drones in the MSM? The working class people's new found ability to get past the MSM gatekeepers via the Internet is just BRAVE NEW World for you, isn't it??!!

You have GOT to be shitting me! LPCN actually, apparently, posted this with a straight face. After decades of the Left using the Judiciary to make laws that they couldn't get at the ballot box or legislatively, this fool is actually complaining about this now? Holy cow.
