Gun sales surge among gays, lesbians after Orlando shooting
I'm not sure how this data is being collected or tracked (more like anecdotes), but the 233% increase in Pink Pistols membership is quantifiable.

DENVER -- Gun sales are surging in the wake of Sunday’s deadly mass shooting in Orlando, Fla. The tragedy is generating new debate over gun control reform and the right to bear arms. Gun shops typically see a spike in customers after mass shootings. But this time, many are seeing shoppers they’ve never really seen before: More gays and lesbians.
...
However, what’s different this time around is the clientele. Mike Smith, a firearms instructor in Colorado Springs, is one of many closely tracking the sudden surge in gays and lesbians buying weapons.
“I think right now because of what happened, people are looking for answers,†he said. “You walk into a gun shop and you expect to see people, frankly, who look like me. I think we forget we’re a country of all people, not just people who fit that predetermined mold.â€
The Pink Pistols is a national gun club for gays and lesbians. It saw its membership soar from about 1,500 members on Saturday to 3,500 on Monday.
More power to them - as long as they can pass a background check I am happy that they are able to exercise their second amendment rights.

3. Even thought I don't carry...
I def support my fellow gay and lesbians to arm and protect themselves. Obviously they're not buying assault rifles or uzis so that tired "ammosexual" meme can stay at the door. We have rights to protect ourselves at all costs, there's nothing funny or right-wing about that.
^^^ Ironic post is ironic. Of course if you are a member of the correct group then the right to keep and bear arms is self evident. Second amendment rights are only canceled for members of the wrong groups.

1. Contrary to Libs' and Progs' stereotype of theologically conservative Christians like me, I'm totally fine with homosexuals obtaining and having the wherewithal to defend themselves from violent attacks. And if a Phelpsian actually turned violent - or a skinhead went on a bashing expedition and attacked the "wrong" gay or lesbian - and got taken out, I wouldn't shed a tear.
2. The post is hypocritical and incoherent. Me buying a semi-automatic rifle to defend myself and my family is being an "ammosexual", but a gay or lesbian buying the same semi-automatic rifle (unlike this DU idiot, I know that "assault weapon" is a political term, and that fully automatic Uzis basically cannot be bought in the US) is totally cool? ::) :banghead:

I shot an Uzi once. I wouldn't buy one, even at a reasonable price.
I think it's great that some homosexuals are taking their self-defense seriously. The manufacturers of pastel pistols and rhinestone studded holsters are smiling, too.

So do I.

The concern I have is these people obtaining weapons with a clear mental illness. Both florida guy and Indiana guy were gay. They also evidently have higher instances of domestic violence, depression and a whole host of other conditions

Was Florida guy "gay"?
If the reports are true, he was bisexual, but the "gay" allegation strikes me as a media snowjob to deflect from the fact he was a Moslem as motivation for the attack.

I wouldn't figure you'd be hanging out in one of those places straight unless you were looking to get your drinks for free. He also had drag queen buddies... growing up muslim with a mental illness like being gay would create a ticking time bomb

The black man that shot the reporter on air in North Carolina was also gay.

I was trying (poorly) to distinguish between homosexual (sexual attraction to or sex with people of the same sex) and gay (all of the group identity stuff and stereotypical behavior).
What I've seen so far indicates he was bisexual, but that is not the same as being "gay".

That opens up a whole other can of worms. You could lump it all together into a sexually identity crisis.

Yup.

Yup.
Just to further the point.. the Jeffrey dahmers, the gacys, the geins of the world are predominantly gay. There is clearly something not clicking inside that will not be compatible with firearm ownership

So, how do you propose the State keep firearms out of the hands of "gays"? My copy of the Constitution doesn't have an asterisk after "shall not be infringed".

Not sure he was gay, his ex wife claims he had gay tendencies, what ever that means, and she is also his ex, could just be talking smack. I think his visits to the club were to case out the place before the attack...
Who knows.

That happened in Virginia. He shot the reporter, cameraman, and wounded a 3rd person.

Very high percentages of alcoholics and drug abusers.
