Rasmussen: 30% of Conservative Democrats Say They’ll Vote for McCain
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics...
Thursday, July 31, 2008
Thirty percent (30%) of conservative Democrats say they’re voting for John McCain. Rasmussen Reports data also shows the Republican hopeful picking up support from 19% of White Democrats and 15% of Democrats over the age of 50. These results are from national telephone survey interviews conducted with 14,000 Likely Voters during the two weeks ending July 24. The sample includes 5,074 Democratic voters.
The data shows that 43% of Democrats consider themselves politically liberal, 37% say they’re moderate, and 18% are conservative.
Forty-one percent (41%) of conservative Democrats have a favorable opinion of John McCain. Sixty-seven percent (67%) say the same about Obama.
Among liberal Democrats, just 23% have a positive opinion about McCain, but 90% give Obama favorable reviews.
Obama is supported by 78% of Democrats overall, a figure that includes 62% of conservative Democrats. He leads 84% to 13% among Democrats under 30. But, among those over 65, Obama earns just 74% of the vote while McCain is preferred by 16% of Democratic senior citizens. It is interesting to note that just 2% of Democrats under 30 hold back from selecting either Obama or McCain. That number grows to 9% among Democrats over 65. Full crosstabs are available for Premium Members.
While Obama is losing some Democratic voters, he begins with a significant advantage over McCain by virtue of the fact that there are far more Democrats in the country than Republicans.

7. No that's probably about right
The term "Conservative Democrat" is kind of code phrase for "racist cracker" where I'm originally from. These, to use another media code word for "racist crackers", "working class whites" vote repuke on a regular basis but still call themselves Democrats because daddy and grandpappy hated the Republican party for taking away their darker skinned property back at the end of the 19th century. This is not a constituency that Obama is going to win or even bother trying to talk too IMO, they are a lost and repulsive group of redneck pricks.

13. Racist! When I think of conservative democratic Zell Miller automatically comes to my thoughts. Whatever happened to that evil-looking man? Lieberman comes to mind. So it fits that they would not vote for Obama. Many are the so-called Reagan democrats that haven't voted for a democrat in years. Remember that melt-down Zell had over Kerry?

3. WTF is wrong with these people? I'm a pretty conservative Dem, and it wouldn't even OCCUR to me to vote for McFossil. Obama is hardly "far-left". These people must still worship at McSenile's Temple Of Mavericky Maverickness.

5. I don't think people have made up their minds yet.
It's the same problem Obama has in general. I think as time goes on, and the convention goes on, and the debates go on, Obama will gain more support. You can see it in some other polls. Obama gets stronger with Democrats as time goes on.

10. You're not that kind of Conservative Dem
You're probably a lot more like the conservative Dem I think of myself as. This is actually only 30% of Conservative Dems which is a pretty small proportion and is made up, in large part, of the Dixicrat racist crackers that I grew up with.

12. Why?
It's 30% of the people that call themselves Conservative Democrats not 30% of the Democrats.

11. What is 30% of 18%?
1/5 of Democrats self-identify as conservative - 18%.
1/3 of those conservative democrats will go for McCain - 30%
1/3 of 1/5 would be 1/15 of the total - @6%.
sounds like the normal expected crossover that we get any election year.
They will be more than made up for by registering new voters.
No worry.

not good, but not as bad as it sounds. And after the primaries, not unexpected.

21. 5.4% Over all.
that actually sounds about right.
So we need to increase voter turnout to counter.
You know, I'm deaf; can't hear.
But while observing this Obamaite primitive bonfire, it was as if I was out in the country, and it was dark.
Night-time.
So I'm passing this old abandoned cemetery.
And suddenly I'm hearing some whistling.

I still don't grok that if you are white and don't for Obama you are a racist but if you are black and vote 95% for Obama you are not.

The Race Card is a one-way street. Always has been, always will be.

So if independents and Reps elect McCain will there be a purge of the Democrat Party by DU'ers of anyone who voted against the :hammer: Messiah?javascript:void(0);
