Rhode Island closes 66 percent of polling places to cut election costs

The Rhode Island Board of Elections announced this week that two-thirds of the state’s polling places would remain closed for the upcoming primary as a costs savings measure.

According to WPRI, the Board of Elections plans to cut costs by opening only 144 of the state’s 419 polling places for the April 26 primary.

Board of Elections Director Robert Rapoza argued that the state had handled record turnout in 2008 after implementing similar cost savings measures.

But since 2008, the state has reduced the total number of polling places. Meaning that there were 33 more voting locations in 2008 than there will be this year.

Here we go again.

The primitives of course fail to see why things such as this happen.

Rhode Island is a notoriously corrupt state, full of politicians and buddies of politicians who need paid off for this or that.  Money that could be allocated for public services such as voting, or public assistance such as food stamps, has to be diverted to their pockets.

In other words, little children go hungry so that some old obese carbuncle-faced public employee--or one of his friends--can be paid.

Kapeesh?  Understand?

But I dunno what the big deal is.  This is Rhode Island.  There's front yards in Nebraska bigger than Rhode Island, so it's not as if voters of that state have to journey for miles and hours to get somewhere to vote.

DUmmies are lazy. Having to go one more mile to get to their polling place = Jim Crow/need for the DOJ or the UN to investigate.   :whatever:

Why should there be a repuke primary in California, or Rhode Island, or New York, or any northeastern state?

Those states are guaranteed democrat landslides in November.

If the primary season made any sense, swing states would be the only participants.

Instead, the scattering of repukes in solid blue states have a vastly disproportionate influence on the nomination.

The purpose should be to win the November election.

The Republican Party should, unfortunately, ignore New York, California, and other blue cesspools, and deny them the ability to influence the nomination.

Winning swing states is the only thing that matters in November.
