Do you put your hand over your heart during the National Anthem?
Am I the only one who stopped? Back when Bush obviously was lying about Iraq?
Last week made me think I was almost back to where I could.
May be no big deal to anyone?
Yet you wonder why people consider you scum.

1. Only when I had to in school. Not since.
Just not a particularly demonstrative, patriotic type here.

2. Stopped in the 1970's
Never started up again.
Won't say the Pledge.
Won't sing the National Anthem and only reluctantly stand.
And definitely will NOT sing "Gob Bless America".

3. Sure. I'll sing the anthem too.
I don't know why some Democrats might think that singing the national anthem, saying the Pledge of Allegiance, flag lapel pins, flying the flag, etc. are undemocratic things to do.
Pepperoni and mushroom?

For me, it would simply be hypocritical to do so.

50. Nothing at all to do with whether it is democratic.
It has to do with glorification of war and valuing one country/group of people above all others, whatever the cost..

68. It is un-Progressive.
The flag stands for human rights violations, robber baron capitalism, and imperialism. I won't stand for it, I won't sing it. I wish they would stop playing it at public events.

to find them now singing "God Bless America" during the 7th Inning Stretch.
OK, thanks for asking. I feel better

77. I hate it so much, I always head to the bathroom for the 7th inning stretch.
I'm going to an Orioles game tomorrow. My game plan is to not be in my seat for that part of it.
At Nationals stadium, they won't even let you leave your seat unless it's between innings. So most of the time, I stood and wandered around. Of course that was a boring game, with the Nats ahead by like 9 runs early on.

25. Nope. And why the hell is the anthem played at sporting events?
Gives me the creeps. It's too 1984ish.
I really hate patriotism. It lets people turn off their brains and feel superior for no reason.

34. The American fascination with the Anthem and the pledge are signs of fascism.
That and the constant war on drugs, terror, and the demonization of Arabs, black people, gays, women, and atheists.
Did I forget anyone or anything?

80. Mostly no.
When I go to a ballgame, I get there late enough to avoid all that.
I truly despise these pieces of shit.

But they would shoot anyone who disses the rainbow flag, or the red flag of their perfect socialist country...
Yeah... makes perfect sense.

::) Is this ritual disavowal and expression of hatred toward the US like an annual religious feast for Progs, like Passover or Christmas? will they feel alone, isolated, and unfulfilled if they don't renew their disavowal or something? ::)

You are confusing patriotism with being a DUmmie.

Now you see just one of the reasons I celebrate when one of these idiots suffers a loss or kicks the bucket.

Can we FINALLY start questioning their patriotism?

91. I was in France last year and our tour bus stopped at a restaurant somewhere on our
way south from Macon. It was rather large as I recall. Alluva sudden the U.S. national anthem blared from the speakers in the hall. Surprised, we all scrambled to stand up and some of us sang. Then the Marseillaise was played and we remained standing and sang (the parts we could remember) that one, too. It was a nice moment in our mutual respect for each other...
I think that it has seen Casablanca too many times.

Every Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and 4th of July, like clockwork...

Back in the 70's, I went to a Forth of July Saturday night race at the local dirt track. Some dude there didn't remove his cap and place it over his heart when they played the national anthem. When the anthem was over, he got his ass whooped, not whipped but whooped.
They're having a big forth of July race this Saturday night. I think I'll go and see if there will be a fight. :-) :-)

And soon we get the Hiroshima and Nagasaki anniversaries, always a source of hilarity. I wonder what they make of the bomb being developed under a Dem, to be used by another Dem.
Their hatred of the US is just more DU dick-measuring. Nothing new to see here.

Invite a DUmmie from the DUmmie side of the tracks in order to pretty much guarantee that you get to see a fight.

They are all imports from up north and live in the gated communities in the northern most corner of the county.....and they're smart enough to not come this far south of there....but I'll see what I can do. :-)

And you know they hate NASCAR. There is a prayer AND the National Anthem before every race.

Soon they'll start referencing a supposed 'study' that determined that exposure to the flag and other patriotic things make sheeple conservative for months at a time. - as they do every year now.

Once again, If you don't like what the American flag (and therefore, America) stands for:

Continuing to live here is the hypocritical part. If I hated a country as much as you DUmbasses hate this one, I would have been gone a long time ago.

And you know they hate NASCAR. There is a prayer AND the National Anthem before every race.
There was the prayer and national anthem before every race, give it a few years, and there won't be. Seeing how NASCAR is handling the Confederate Battle Flag nonsense, I see those days being numbered for the prayer and the national anthem if something doesn't change.

My days with NASCAR are numbered anyway. My wife is the world's BIGGEST Jeff Gordon fan, and when he announced this was his last year, she said she was done. I had almost talked her into staying another year, seeing some more races at other tracks, until...
this crap with NASCAR over the Confederate Battle Flag made our decision for us. I'm sure I'm not alone on this one.

I feel the same way. I don't like Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, or either of the Busch or Dillon brothers. Earnhardt and Johnson aren't really enough to bring me back every week. Who knows?
It doesn't help that NBC does TV coverage for half of the season. You can't match DW, Mike Joy, or Larry McReynolds.

Every year it seems that NASCAR moves farther and farther from its roots. A tree doesn't last long without roots.

I'm a Carl Edwards fan, but I agree with you, I don't like the Dillons, the Buschs (I think both are hot-headed, arrogant assholes), never really liked either Harvick or Keselowski, Danica is a joke, Stewart and Bowyer bore me (though it was fun to watch Stewart bounce his helmet off Kenseth's hood at Bristol a few years back), Newman is a nice guy, I met him at Martinsville and got to talk to him a bit, but there just aren't any standout drivers anymore like when the Pettys, Allisons, Earnhardts, and Waltrips ruled the track. The cars are all cookie-cutter replicas of each other, just different decals, only 3 different manufacturers instead of the 10 or so there used to be.

I used to hate Kyle and Kurt Busch, but in the last few years I've come to appreciate their driving ability. I'm a fan of Bowyer and Kyle Larson. I used to dislike Harvick, but he's kind of grown on me.
I do wish the stock cars would actually have the appearance of being stock.
Though I really liked Dale, Sr. and am sorry he got killed, the driver I miss the most is Harry Gant.
-
Kyle Larson is a good driver, he's done more in the 42 car in 2 years than Juan Pablo Montoya did in his entire career, he'll be one to watch.

Every year it seems that NASCAR moves farther and farther from its roots. A tree doesn't last long without roots.
They dumped North Wilkesboro, Rockingham, took one race from Darlington and there was a rumor of taking the other until fan got wind of it. Let go on out there to Kommieforia and do road races like the U-R-peein's. Their fan base was built on rednecks and I just don't see liberals supporting their sport.

In Montoya's defense, his steering broke.
He also won the Indy 500 this year.

No, I saw it during the rain delay yesterday.
I guess they have to one-up Fox's cutaway car and get one that actually runs and drives.

I wouldn't put it past them. They're dropping a ton of money on advertising. Even their track reporters are wearing matching fire suits.
