It's not just that the kid molested his sister that bugs me....

It's wrong but I'm not even sure I would go so far as to say that Josh Duggar is a pedophile. The kid grew up in this wacko household where sex talk was probably pretty much taboo so he probably wasn't taught any better. Does that justify what he did - HELL NO. Does that mean he's a pedophile today? Probably not. But if the kid was from any other household, he probably would have done time that's for sure.

But what really bothers me is this.

The Duggar family has spent the last five years or so using their fame and their TV show as a platform to promote their form of religon and their family as some sort of moral 'high ground'. The Duggar family felt because they were so 'Holy' and 'Devout' in their form of religion which including popping out 19 children and then homeschooling all those kids and raising these kids in a very strict moral religious way, that they could some how judge the rest of society as to what was morally right and what was morally not night.

And included in that was Marriage Equality.

Michelle Duggar was especially devoted in fighting against Marriage Equality. She was very vocal in how Gays and Lesbians and the LGBT community were some sort of Deviants who were sinners in the eyes of God and therefore should not be allowed to ever be allowed to have the same rights to marriage as straights. And god forbid if a gay or lesbian couple wanted to adopt *GASP* - think of the children and what those homosexuals might actually do to those kids.

This is the type of hate that the Duggars would preach and the Duggars felt they had the right to preach it because they were morally better than the rest of us.

Or so we thought.

Turns out super-duper religious over-breeding homeschooled breeders aren't so morally superior to the rest of us. Turns out these people have absolutely NO moral high ground - never had it, never deserved it. Maybe the Duggars should read their Bibles again and instead of figuring out reasons to hate on Gays or having a 20th kid (stuff from the Old Testament), try reading something Jesus said in Matthew 7:1-2:

"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2"For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.…

Christian suck and home schooling sucks .Gotcha.  :whatever:

It looks like ol' Three Chins was saying that because the son molested girls, the mother should support homosexuality.

Only in a DUmmy's head does that add up.

That forest of strawmen and burnt-out projector bulbs was a bit more dense than I'm patient enough to try to negotiate. Not sure LS actual understands what has happened and been done over the years. Before going "there", I do have to speak to one particularly glaring example of the ignorance of LS:

Quote
The kid grew up in this wacko household where sex talk was probably pretty much taboo so he probably wasn't taught any better.

Real-world parents, including Evangelical and Fundamentalist Christians, inform their children, at the appropriate age, about sex. They do it privately - not on the TV screen - one-to-one (or two parents to one child), out of respect for the child. Further, Joshua would have been taught, among many other things in Scripture, the Ten Commandments, Romans chapter 1, and 1 Corinthians chapter 6. These - individually and in combination - make quite clear that sex outside of marriage and otherwise indulging in sexual lust is wrong. I guess it takes a Christian-Hater to be this ignorant and obtuse about what Christian parents do in raising their children.

Joshua Duggar was 14YO when he did the molestation, in 2002 and 2003.

In March, 2003 Joshua was sent out of the home for counseling (evidently not with a counselor DU-folk would approve of)

Those he molested also received counseling at the time.

In July, 2003 Joshua and Jim Bob went to a state trooper who was a family friend, to whom Joshua confessed what he had done; the state trooper did not pursue it further than a "stern" lecture.

The Duggars' TV show began in September, 2008. IOW, the family had observed Joshua's behavior for over 5 years. My opinion is that there is no way in Hades they would have begun the show if they had the slightest doubt about Joshua's behavior.

Joshua told his then future wife, at the start of their courtship, about what he had done. The norm for their particular sub-sub-sub-culture of Christian homeschoolers is that before beginning courtship Joshua would have first asked and received that permission of the young lady's father. That would have been a rather long heart-to-heart talk, and Joshua would have informed the father of what he had done, and what he had done in repentance in the years since.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

It's funny and ironic to me. DU-style Libs and Progs claim to be so-o-o-o-o-o to-o-o-o-o-olerant, but cannot admit that people with views they hate can be good people or have changed former bad behaviors. DU-style Libs and Progs claim "fundamentalist" Christians are so-o-o-o-o-o into-o-o-o-o-olerant, yet most theologically conservative Christians readily receive - as brothers and sisters in Christ - people who have repented from all manner of sin (even the formerly smug and prideful!). Talk about an other-side-of-the-looking-glass world ("Beam me up, Scotty! There's no intelligent life on this world!")!

:thatsright: Ya know, sometimes the best response to silliness like this is so simple that it's easy to miss. :thatsright: Which I did. :thatsright:

The Duggars have been parents for some 27 years. The Duggars have 19 children. Does anyone really believe that in all of those 25ish years since their oldest could talk, not even one little Duggar-child asked, "Mommy, how did that little baby get inside you?"

Anything about Roman Polanski?

Seriously there's no principal in play "over there", just hatred for a family that is "fundamentalist" and won't confirm the stereotype of being stupid, poor, ignoramae (ignorami?).

Ignorami is paper folding for DUmmies. They teach it on Skins' Island in the afternoon play therapy class.

He was 14.  Don't know about the sister(s) involved.  I did read the portion of the police report that the unrelated girl was asleep and unaware of his actions until four years later (when she was called for an interview for the police report).

I don't know his personal situation, but at that age *things* had been happening *down south* for about a year, and God help me, snuggling with the family cat (among other things) caused 'em.  *Things* settled down after a while but for about a year and a half  I could have done what he did.  Curiosity and hormones.  No bearing on adult orientation.

As it is I "starched" a lot of underwear and towels.  Mom didn't quite get why I was so willing to help with the laundry.
