Title: The Big Guy Bids Adieu - Chapter One
Post by: GOBUCKS on May 08, 2015, 01:58:36 PM
Goodbye Cruel World!

Now the Big Guy says his affliction is "FTD", which would imply it's got some connection to the delivery of floral arrangements.

And DUmmies lie, all the time.

When Illness Makes a Spouse a Stranger (can we talk?)

First I want to thank the 40-50 DUers that knew about my condition and kept my deepest secret.

Why OS doesn't really exist anymore is in an old NYT article below.

I had it long before I was diagnosed with FTD (I prefer to call it brain atrophy from the article below) just before Christmas 2013. I guess I'm lucky, some victims get this in their 20's.

My new symptoms point to me having a second deadly disease (ALS) that will shorten even more the quality time I have left. Projected lifespan 2 years. I'm just waiting to see the specialist for a confirmation diagnosis. I'm in no hurry to get there.

I so desperately wanted wanted to stay on the DU through November of 2016. But I've overstayed my time, it is so obvious. All I have done is ruin what OS used to be on the DU. My own fault for wanting to stay.

On current events. I was asked to do something by a DU Hillary supporter earlier this week. I spent the time and effort. It was pointed out to me point blank this morning because of something I did a few weeks ago, a huge "stick it" was the way it was treated by many. I had already heard it through the grapevine. It still hurt. Since then I haven't been able to stop crying.

And this morning an OP brought this reply: "I think you should delete this thread, because it sounds demented."

On the money in my case.

"you don't have Nixon to kick around any more, because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference."  (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/r/richardmn116455.html)

I've enjoyed being a part of the DU and all the friends I've made here.

As far as OS and life in the future. I won't go out violently. I won't go out on FTD's terms.

A glass to the good old days.  To a win in November 2016...

OS AKA Algernon or Don Quixote

Brain atrophy. It does explain so much about Omaha Steve. The same could be said of most DUmmies.

I wonder if the epidemic of atrophied brains on Skins' Island is a cause or an effect?

Gotta believe this brain rot he nadined up is less deadly than his combination of morbid obesity, age, and sedentary habits.

Did he tell the blood drive people about his brain rot?

Sounds like mad cow - maybe gets into the bloodstream.

I'm a little concerned that we will have trouble detecting his rising dementia considering his state over the last few years.

At any rate, his promise to end it on his terms should provide top notch entertainment since he won't be able to resist spewing it all over DU.  I don't want to give him ideas but, he could drag it out even further if he created a sock account for poor Marta.

Most of the mental problems and brain issues at DU can be linked directly to serious drug abuse in their youth.

I worked with my church in an outreach with former drug users and they all suffered from serious brain damage. They were free of their addictions, their bodies were healthy...but their minds were a shadow of their former selves.

This is why I am so against legalizing MJ. Its a gateway drug.
Seems drug use, brain damage and liberalism are all linked.

Liberalism is a mental disease.

Makes it hard to diagnose true mental illness in liberals, when they start with the deck stacked against them.   :rotf:

Uh-huh.

The big guy's ignoring his gross obesity as a factor because it's something he can do something about, but he doesn't want to do a damned thing about anything.  He'd rather just lay back and be a "victim."

He had this great idea for free natural gas.

But then he ran fourth in a field of four, so Bellevue still has to pay utility bills.

Sodom and Gomorrah, Nebraska Style

Are you f***ing kidding me? Some religious idiot in my state wrote a seven page petition to the court asking them to declare homosexuality a sin, and make her the spokesperson for God and his son, Jesus Christ. She says (bad spelling, improper syntax, wrong initial capitalization, and incorrect grammar use in the quote below are all hers):

Never before has our great Nation the United State of America and our great State of Nebraska's been besiege by sin;
The way to destroy any Nation, or State is to destroy its morals, Look what happen to Sodom and Gomorrah two city because of the same immoral behavior thats present in our Nation, in Our States, and our Cities, God destroy them.

If God could have found ten righteous people among them he would have spared them.

I'm sixty six years old, an I never thought, that I would see the day in which our Great Nation or our Great State of Nebraska would become so compliant to the complicity of some peoples lewd behavior.

First of all, this 66-year-old woman hand-wrote the seven page petition to the court on lined notebook paper (three hole punched, no less, she really splurged) in a cursive style that a fourth-grader would have been ashamed to turn in. Is there no electricity down in Auburn, Nebraska, that she can't use a computer, or at least a manual typewriter? Or because there were no computers in the bible, or electricity, or manual typewriters, does she not use these amenities?

I picture her writing by candlelight while sitting on a camp stool in a subterranean survival bunker, where she and her son have barricaded themselves in, to protect them from the hordes of gay people she seems to think are overrunning Auburn, and the rest of the state.

Second, God has apparently visited her in that bunker and discussed the sin situation in Auburn and Nebraska. Why isn't God giving interviews about this on Fox or NPR, where he'd get much more media coverage?

Third, the Sodom and Gomorrah reference just won't hold water. We're all still here, so God must have found ten or more righteous people and decided to give us a break for once.

Lastly, I'm almost 60 "an I never thought that I would see the day in which our Great Nation or our Great State of Nebraska" would have a resident petition the courts to be named the spokesperson of God and Jesus Christ. The nerve!

You are one of DU's shining lights, Steve, and one of the kindest, gentlest and most loving people I've ever met. Furthermore, even on a bad day, you STILL make very worthwhile contributions here.

I will join others here in asking you to reconsider your decision to leave. There will come a time when no longer posting will be the best decision for you, but as someone who knows you well, that time has not yet arrived. Please reconsider.

I don't know if OS really has a brain disease as I've never fictionally spirit-guided him since I don't offer complimentary mini-tacos with each session, but if he does indeed have a brain disease he has my sympathy because I'm a compassionate fictional spirit-guide.

Now with that out of the way, why would a brain disease cause you to leave DU? As it progressed wouldn't it actually make you more DU-eligible?

Let me see if I got this straight:  The big guy is now saying he has ALS and brain atrophy?  I thought he had brain cancer?

Sorry Steve. I just ain't  buying it.  I am also wondering if his "goodbye cruel DU world" post isn't due to the fact people are starting to question his terminal illness.  For someone who is terminal he sure is passing away in a slow, long drawn out fashion.

Just off yourself already and be done with it Steve. Go in spectacular fashion too. Jump off a tall building. They'll name the resulting quake after you.

If you check out the Big Guy's particular brand of alleged brain rot, the average survival after diagnosis is thirteen to twenty years!!

But - the chance that the hugely obese, sedentary Big Guy will survive 13-20 years under any circumstances is approximately zero.

So he had to toss in the bonus ALS to give things a little more immediacy.

I only question his death sentence in that he hasn't gone into detail about the disease.  Sorry, OS but you seem to be the kind of person that if it was a fact you would tell every little symptom of the disease.  Or Hell, I've known a few people that got terminal diseases and they NEVER talked about it.  You didn't know they had anything wrong until you heard they died.  So you skating that thin line when we have seen you tell everything is making your credibilty suck.

The voters in the elections he has run figured that out relatively quickly.
If only more Americans figured that out about owebuma before he got annointed/elected.

Hmmm. Maybe this is a set up for a Gofundme account.

Curious.  Just recently Marta signs up and posts at DU, but after OS has established his imminent if not soon demise.  What happens if he dies sooner rather than later?

Poor distraught Marta might have to resort to begging for funds to buy the piano sized coffin for OS.

Fire up that gofundme account.  OS and Marta need a good long vacation.

Well, there's no way the retired Big Guy has enough life insurance to pickle and bury his carcass.

He didn't save, he spent his money on new gadgets to brag about at the DUmp and on travel to pay for autographs from 60s TV bit actors.

His pension's a pittance since he was never anything but the lowest city employee classification, and he's too young to be getting SS.

Maybe he can set up an apartment share with stewert and TorchTheWitch.

For a hefty guy.

For a hefty guy.

I hope poor dear Marta's got some triple heavy-duty industrial-strength aerosol Lysol or somesuch in the cupboards.  If the big guy spring loose of this mortal coil when she's at work, say of sudden cardiac arrest, by the time she returns home and finds the corpse, it'll be pretty ripe, if not in fact gag-inducing.

She'd maybe better keep about a dozen cans on hand, despite that spray Lysol is pretty expensive.

You've seen pics of him, right? Is there any doubt that he already eats a ton of sugar, and already may be diabetic?

Maybe he lost a foot, but didn't realize it. It's not like he can see them, after all.
