So...did anyone have a brother drunk from a party stumble in
on Christmas Eve - just as a priest was over blessing the
perogies and kielbasa? He slept on a blanket by the washer and dryer in the basement and was gone before dawn.
Didn't think so. Is this the worst holiday story??
Well... with your screen name....

6. If you're Catholic, that's the thing - you get the priest to come over and bless the food before dinner. It's just a thing
Well, I am not Chatholic but I don't think that that is a thing... (Oh crap! I did the Jefferson's Ghost "THAT" thing!)

8. Well shit
all the times we had Christmas Eve dinner at my son's house, my (Polish) DIL never had the priest there blessing the kielbasa and pierogi and kapusta and fried fish, etc. Although we did exchange some special Polish saying before we ate, so maybe that's an alternative if all the priests are off blessing other peoples' dinners? In any case, they moved out of state this past January and so this was the first time in many years we didn't get to have Xmas Eve dinner with them. Made me sad.
Somehow there is a racist feel to all this...
Thats all there is now... I haven't heard fromt his DUmpmonkey before but she sounds like a fun date... :fuelfire:

Gee, I'm Catholic, born, baptized and raised. I never heard of such a practice. We had a blessing of the farm and herd once, but th*t was with a new pastor. He did it one year for all the farmers in the rural parish, and th*t was it. Unless your the biggest donor in the parish, no priest is gonna come to your home to say grace for you.

But ... are you Polish Catholic?

One year a priest came over to visit my daughter and her friend on Christmas eve, then a few years later he was charged with "inappropriate behavior" with others. :thatsright:

You should have seen the faces of my wife and I when we found out together.

I feel deprived.....no drunk relatives, no family brawls, not even a single curse word, nothing but good food and good fellowship....by DUmmie standards, it was a boring Christmas.....I enjoyed it.

Just watch the movie "Animal House". Pay close attention to the cafeteria scene.
