Admitting that tends to lead to their 9+ years of demonizing Trump inspiring the attempt, I guess, something they dare not admit, especially to themselves.
5.56 mm is a high velocity load and the human ear is pretty thin (1/4"? a bit less?). I think Trump's injury is not inconsistent with those basics. Maybe a wild hog trapper could rig up a test with a dead hog and a 5.56 mm caliber rifle at 130 yards (i.e. a relatively realistic, chicken-wire-free, test).
