Nuclear Unicorn
9. What about your personal best?
Maybe you aren't Top 10 or whatever at whatever.
Are you doing the best that *you* can do?
Do you ask the best of the people around you? Your surgeon. The guy helping you carry the couch up the stairs. The employee cleaning the bathroom at the restaurant you're going to eat at.
No one of us is insignificant. That means we all have an impact on each other. That means we owe each other our best. Not for ourselves or self-enrichment but because the people whose lives we touch are our family, friends and neighbors.
This primitive starts out on the right foot, but then falls off the track at the end.
I agree, do the best you personally can do. But the motivation is to benefit yourself and your family, and the extention of that is it will help others. But I don't owe other people my best from the standpoint that if I do my best the nuclear unicorn primitive might on down the road benefit. I don't give a flip about the nuclear unicorn primitive. I do my best because it benefits me and my family.
Now, enter what liberals would like the USA to be and it changes everything. Why do my best when some bleeding heart will see I get what I want anyway? As has been noted throughout the ages, make it where people have no incentive to have to try their best and they'll quickly learn that just doing enough to get by gains them the same reward. By the time it's too late to reverse the trend, the experiment known as the USA is over.
