I've been thinking on this. I would not be surprised if Steve Dawes has been spending more of the household budget than he should on his campaign, and Marta has given him what-for about it.

Steve said he sent out 7,300 flyers in a targeted mailing. Postage for saturation mailing runs 14.5 cents/piece. There's $1,000. Printing those atrocious flyers at the union shop in Lincoln- $400 with setup. Mini-tacos and an open keg at Bear's Bar- $250. All of those things would need to be paid beforehand, and were probably paid from Steve and Marta's household account.

Any more fundraisers, and he'll be running as "Hobo Steve", the newly single homeless candidate.

Aside from postage, seven thousand three hundred pieces of mail represents a hell of a lot of folding, inserting, licking, and addressing. With the near zero support he has, that means the big guy would have to hire a bulk mailer, and somewhere, I guess the democrat party, get a list of all the names and addresses in his ward.

Anyone who's handled a Christmas card list of just a few dozen names knows what an impossible job seven thousand three hundred names would be.

So we're talking some serious money to hire a professional firm to do it. Socialist Steve can't even hire a professional barber.

The democrat party isn't going to do it for him. Even in Sarpy County, they aren't in the business of showering money on certain losers.

I'm really afraid Socialist Steve is lying again.

Hey, Steve. Press releases are free. they reach a LOT of people...SAY SOMETHING!

Ya get a few press releases with great Steve Dawes quotes in them, radio news might start mention your name.
then call a press conference...again its free. get a nice day, have it on the lawn of City Hall. Want adoring crowds? A few bags of Cheetos will lure out the occupiers...they will even chant for Cheetos.

Steve there is a LOT you can do for free. get off yer ass and say things. Its the weekend...how many doors are you knocking on? I wouldn't even need a budget to beat a lazy bum like you.

I looked at another option- Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM). The flyers are put in every mailbox within a ZIP code for a per-piece rate. I estimated 14.5 cents/flyer based on the number of flyers. https://www.usps.com/business/every-door-direct-mail.htm?

That's a lot of money to fill Bellevue's landfill with Steve Dawes flyers.

Hey, Steve? You might want to consider using the excellent webmail resources that are at your disposal on

www.electstevedawes.com

Your crack webteam there should be able to put together a far more targeted approach in getting your message out. And you don't have to spend 5 grand on a mailing!

You really should enter the 21st Century, Steve, and listen to your website team at www.electstevedawes.com.

Bulk mail, send to "resident, City of Bellevue" -- they aren't individually addressed.   The post office does it.

Re the campaign finance report, I doubt there will be one. He'll never cross the $5000 threshold in the Nebraska law.

I have to tell you that Nebraska is major league ass-backwards.     You can get your name on the ballot just by paying $, and you can receive money from criminals and spend that on hookers, gambling and booze under the guise of "campaign contributions" as long as you don't cross a $5K threshold.   Wow.

People make fun of MA, but dang our regulations are very strict.   You have to collect signatures from real live people to get your name on the ballot, and you have to report and account for every single dime that comes in and out (no service can be comped or discounted - everything has to be provided for a fee to the campaign at market rates).

OS is just making this stuff up so the misfits think he is spending  money on actual campaign expenses.     Fools and their money.....

Well, it's good to see the big guy's in fine form, still fit and ready to run.

I was concerned.

By the way, one wonders who this "certain crowd" is.

It can't be his friends, and it's not us, so it must be that Sherlock Judy's been poking around.

I'm not sure I would call StevieO, fit!

I owned a printing business. I'm a press operator/mechanic! It would cost at least $500 just to do the frikkin' artwork! If it's color, you could be lookin' at a grand! Haven't seen one, so I don't know, but a CMYK flyer would cost at least $1300, and that's 2001 prices! It also depends on the size.

My press took 32" x 19" paper could more that likely print 4 on a page.

7,300 flyers would take aprox, 1900 sheets, there is waste, ya know, I don't care how good ya are. By the time you include labor, even if it was black and white, after cutting and packaging would prolly run him at least 2 grand.

Artwork, havin' the negatives made, the plates, cuttin', boxin', yeah it ain't cheap!

So we're lookin' at a total of around $3500!

Flyers, BTW, are a pain in the ass! I always charged extra since they were always a "short" run. Most of the time, ya look for 20,000 run minimum.

I bet momma ain't real happy! I bet the ol' bank account is lookin' pretty slim!
