Interesting read-
http://blog.heritage.org/2011/04/27/obamas-top-six-gas-price-myths-busted/

I agree with most of it, I only take issue with number five. Before I say anything else I agree that ethanol is a bad idea however, they make it seem like no bio-fuels would help when that's not the case.

Sure bio-fuels can't replace current petroleum products but things like more bio-diesel would be a good thing. Things like bio-diesel are easy to produce and can be made from any number of things, such as various forms of waste which is a major benefit to it.

Just because ethanol is a bad choice is no reason to knock all alternative fuels.

Let's blow more billions of our tax money on stupid shit like this. If the private sector wants to do it, that is fine with me.

It's far from the worst thing it could be spent on, at least is has some promise of help unlike investing in most "green" technologies. Also, nowhere in my post do I say that people should be taxed for stuff like it, I was only commenting on how the article was more or less painting a entire category of things the same way.

If any tax money anywhere is spent on fuel is should be to drill for more oil, because it's far more useful now then anything else.

Here are the facts regarding green energy and bio fuels. Not one can stand on it's own with out federal funding and subsidies. Wind and solar will double or triple the cost of electricity. The electricity derived from windmills off the coast of MA is a prime example of the exorbitant cost that citizens of that state will pay.

Natural gas is the solution to our energy problems. All of these other greenie ideas are not cost efficient. It is a shame that liberals and Env. nuts hate drilling for oil and natural gas. Natural gas is clean burning, cheap and we have tons of it which could make us energy independent on foreign oil in 10 years.

Yesterday, gas was still $3.87 & $3.97.  Today?  $4.07 and $4.17, a 20 cent jump in one day. WTF?

Still averaging out to about 25-30 cents a month rise.  As much as I bitched about $4/gal, back in 2008 it was only a very limited spike.  This is MUCH worse than then.

And it is unlikely to drop anytime soon.  We will see $5.00 a gallon as an average before the end of the year IMO.

Just like that asshole in the WH wanted.

Fine--and if they do keep going up, and don't come down substantially by early 2012 (under $3.00 nationally), Obumbles will have sealed his fate.

I think that Barry's lazy enough to be quite okay with that. I have the very real impression that he's being pushed into the reelection campaign. He'd be perfectly fine with a single term, because after that, he can talk to Soros all he wants on his Crackberry without worrying about nuisances like records and audit trails.

And let's not forget his other passions, besides narcissism and inability to make a coherent decision -- golf.

But I digress. Back to gas prices.

Fair enough--and God knows he'll make enough money spewing to the fawning masses on the Rubber Chicken Circuit, as well as any books he writes (and let's not forget the 8-figure advance for it) will leave him set for life.

Not like he'll have to WORK for a living or anything remotely resembling it, so $7-10/gal gas won't be a concern to him.

$3.943/gal national average today.  Up from $3.619/gal a month ago, and $2.885/gal a year ago.  NH average is $3.887/gal, although it's damn near impossible to find anything under $3.939, and we'll be posting the magical "4... 9/10" any day now.

$3.967/gal nationally, $3.917/gal in NH.

I paid over $4 for the first time since 2008.  Half tank "top off" cost me $40.

Rental car gas prices hit more than $9 a gallon

A USA TODAY survey of auto rental gas prices at 13 big airports on April 25 found Hertz was charging $9.29 a gallon at all 13. Dollar and Thrifty were charging $8.99 a gallon at two.

At $9.29 a gallon, Hertz customers renting a Ford Club Wagon, which has a 35-gallon fuel tank, would owe Hertz $325.15 for gas if they returned the wagon with a nearly empty tank and hadn't prepaid for the gas.

Renters who pay ahead of time for a tank of gas from Hertz or another car rental company, though, may find the per-gallon price cheaper than at many local gas stations.

I'm filling up every third day now (twice weekly) because I can't fill up my tank anymore without hitting the $75 limit on cards.

Ouch.  That sucks.  I imagine that limit will be raised before gas prices lower.

I fill up for over 40 now.  Not much over, but over just the same.

Gas hit $4 a gallon for mid-grade at our local Shell station, $3.859 otherwise.

I cringe later on this week when I fill up the Sienna AND two gas cans (5 gallons and 2 gallons, respectively). Probably a total of 25 gallons. That's gonna leave a mark.  :banghead:

Rather odd considering that the price of crude dropped more than $2 per bbl. yesterday.

Yeah, I gave 4.09 for mid-grade.  I have two 10 cent off fillups available to me at two different gas stations.  Wasn't near either when I needed gas.  Piss Poor Planning on my part.  Lesson learned.

$34 to fill up today @ $4.03/gal.  However, the station is now offering a 5 cent/gal. discount for paying in cash.
