Can They Install A Big, Loud Horn on Airplanes To Scare The Geese Away?
I know that this may be a dumb question, but wouldn't that work?

I wonder if he's serious.

1. Louder than a jet engine, you mean?

14. Maybe Not Louder, But A Different Sound Equally As Loud
Or some sort of sound that scare the geese away. It could be a high pitched sound that only the geese hear.

It just seems to me that sound is the only way to fend off the geese.

33. I only mean this half-jokingly but if they painted jets like BIG m-f-ing owls....
 ...that might help.

Of course there would be A LOT more bird poop raining down if that were the case.

36. They'll probably just get use to it
It does no good to use the car horn on the geese that block the driveway where I work. They'll turn around and look at you and you just know if they had fingers they'd be flipping you off.

4. Honk a horn?
Hmmmm? Don't geese honk? That might be mistaken for a mating call! LOL

So the plane would hit the geese before the honk did.

For take off and landing, possibly, but I doubt a horn would be scarier than a plane.

38. Disclaimer: it appears I am talking nonsense.
My apologies; all I can say in my defence is that I'm a mathematician, not a physicist, and planes travelling at the speed of sound is something I remember coming up when studying the mathematics of waves

40. The planes go so fast that it wouldn't make any difference
The only solution to the problem of geese is to eat more of them.

They are an amusing bunch.

Just arm the airliners with wing-mounted shotguns with bird shot. Maybe even add a nose gunner.  :evillaugh:

People seem to be missing the easy solution.

They are canadian geese.

We obviously need to wait till they all fly north for the summer and then nuke Canada.

It's the only way to be sure. :-)

Yeah because the big loud engines are too quiet for the geese.  We need to put a horn on, that'll scare em!

Seriously - this is one of the funniest "serious" threads I have read.

See this is the damn problem with all these dumbass enviromentalist.

It's a ****ing bird.  We can't shoot em, well except during the season, well the first one, unless you live west of blah, blah, then only during the second and third seasons with a bag limit three less than those east of blah, blah.  :thatsright:

Again it's a ****ing bird..................brain just a tad smaller than the average primitive on skins island.  We have to use non toxic shot now because of the ****ing birds...............cheapest is steel shot and it cripples many more than it kills.

Here's an idea.......................let us go back out there with a punt gun and within 2 months the resident goose problem will be solved. Then we'll go after the flying rats  :evillaugh:

On a side note.........................this overpopulation of geese is just how the last great Bunny Ptarmigan war started, those filthy feathered obaminations just started reproducing and forcing their unmoralistic lifestyles on all.  Just like the USA the bunnies will prevail.  If the filthy Ptarmigans enlist the geese, then the bunnies say they will enlist the tree rats and wood goats

MORONS!!!!!

The probably is at takeoff and landing.

They don't travel at the speed of sound. Some Military fighter jets can, but not at takeoff and landing.

What imbeciles.

People, Canada has the UK disease...something we've also recently "acquired". Not all Canadians are moonbats. Hence, why they elected a conservative as PM.

You ARE aware of what those geese will do when they're frightened by your hypothetical big, loud horn, don't you?

They fly when they get scared. In the air.  You ARE aware of this, right?

They fly in the same air that the airplanes are in, at about the same altitudes that the airplanes taking off and landing through, at the same airport that you just scared all of the geese into the surrounding airspace.

Are you upset that the US aviation system doesn't have as many accidents as other countries or something?  Are you trying to be fair, by making the US aviation system have as many accidents as third world countries?

Were you borne this stupid, or have you worked hard your whole life to rise to this level of idiocy?

Some idiot at Time magazine (I believe) who is probably a member at the dump says that this problem with the geese is a byproduct of global warming.  We humans have apparently messed with the migration of Canadian geese.

I-D-I-O-T-S!!

I recall seeing some show about runway/airport design and pest control.  They were setting off noisemakers to keep the birds away from the runways.  The birds eventually got used to the noise and it stopped being effective in keeping them away from the planes.

They are just a bunch of Canada Geese - loosen the hunting laws on them and they will turn up in Chinese restaurants nationwide, versus around airports. Problem solved.

They use gas canon at the airport (and at some fish / prawn farms) around here to scare off birds.

Is a device that mixes LPG and air in a tube and fires it, resulting in a bang.

They usually scare birds off for all of about 15 minutes.

Personally I'm more in favor of the object that has 100 balls and f***s ducks. :uhsure:

Having lived in Jersey for 9 years, halfway down the Atlantic Flyway and right around four huge air hubs, it wouldn't work.  Most of the geese around there aren't migrating, the damned lazy-assed slacker birds stick around all year, crapping on everything and getting in everyone's way, and the place is both so built up and so PETA-infested/anti-hunting that you can't just kill the ****ers off.  Also there is no way to tell the ones that are actually migrating from the slug-butts, so the migratory bird protection laws still apply, even though they aren't migratory anymore.

They act like birds flying into jet engines, and as a result planes having to land in the Hudson River, is so commonplace that something needs to be done immediately, if not sooner.

That explains the 312 sonic booms everyday.

How about we find all the geese and tie a large weight to each one? That should keep them from flying into those mean ol' jet engines.

But near as we can tell, there are only about 5,500 un-tombstoned DUmmies.

We don't have enough dead weight to go around.

Nuking Canada may be our only option.

I want to know what that thing was growing off the side of her head.   Andrew Breitbart posted on his Facebook status that he was tempted to ski on Dianne Feinstein's hair.
