General Discussion / Re: The truth about Covid’s origins is finally coming out

It's more like bits and pieces of supporting evidence have dripped and dropped over the past four years since the Trump WH published the (largely) circumstantial evidence they had collected in spring 2020 pointing to the Wuhan Virology Institute.

I frequent 3 conservative discussion sites (Hi, FamousGrouse!). I have seen zero calls for physical violence against any of those three judges. OTOH, I've seen a lot of DU-anger expressed toward Judge Cannon (e.g. "hostile, menacing and, in some cases, racist or sexualized language"). I would be unsurprised if there are DU-posts that cross into calling for violence against her. So I'd like to see what pro-Trump websites Reuters checked, including links to some of the "150 posts since March 1".

DU is mentioned in a Reuters article today
Trump blasts his trial judges. Then his fans call for violence

In a review of commenters’ posts on three pro-Trump websites, including the former president’s own Truth Social platform, Reuters documented more than 150 posts since March 1 that called for physical violence against the judges handling three of his highest-profile cases – two state judges in Manhattan and one in Georgia overseeing a criminal case in which Trump is accused of illegally seeking to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.

Those posts were part of a larger pool of hundreds identified by Reuters that used hostile, menacing and, in some cases, racist or sexualized language to attack the judges, but stopped short of explicitly calling for violence against them.

(snip)

A Reuters examination of websites catering to the left revealed dozens of hostile comments attacking the competence and credibility of conservative jurists. The targets include U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee who has issued a number of rulings favorable to the former president in his ongoing federal prosecution in Florida for misappropriating classified documents after leaving office. On Democratic Underground, a liberal site, posters have attacked Cannon as “corrupt” and suggested she be tried for espionage.

But a review of comments on those sites did not reveal the sort of violent language that Trump supporters use in their online posts, including suggestions that judges be beaten or killed.

I know we're not always perfect, but I'm glad we have standards here, and I appreciate you all for doing your best to stick to them.

You have standards? Spare me with that BS.

Unfortunately, the response from so many in places of power will be the old, familiar...

And most folks not in places of power will never hear it.

Maybe someone will fire bomb his office.

That sounds like a brilliant idea, they could burn them at the stake and put it on pay-per-view to offset the cost of prosecuting them. And I think it would be a deterrent to future perpetrators. :thatsright:

The first time you watch the Hammock Guy demanding his right to hammock on a bus you might think he is just an annoying jerk. That was my first impression which is why I have replayed the Hammock Guy's performance. By the second viewing, there is a good chance your antagonism towards the Hammock Guy will change from annoyance to growing admiration along with strong doses of amusement. And the more I watch the Hammock Guy the more I admire him despite my initial impression. Oh, and I also laugh harder each time I watch him defy authority and assert his right to hammock in the bus.
