12 miles or so (just past Porcupine Lake acess) is about where I fished. Really nice camping area in that vicinity.

Hit the Joe yesterday. Went up to Conrad CG and worked my way downstream to Avery.
Fished a 7'-6" 4wt Channer with a 5wt line. All drys, all day.
Caught fish everywhere we stopped.
Long day!

Hit the NFCDA today. Water is very low. Fished a Moonshine rod, non boo!
The fish are still there, just have to find them.
I did hike upstream in a few places, saw some water I would not have been able to get to with higher flows.

Nice! Ya the fish hang in deeper pools and get pretty skittish. Lots of hoppers here in town so that should bring them out.

On the NF again today. Catching was good with a bleached hair wing dry. Lots of people out there for a week day, looking forward to September and folks stop camping.

On the St Joe today. Fish were looking up. Had a banner day with drys. Fished a 7'-6" 5wt quad that really makes it easy to lay out a good amount of line.
Taking the camper down to the Locsha next week for 4 days of fishing there.

I got back from a trip to Ca. to see my mother. Hit up a lake I
haven't been to for nearly 3 years. Known for large trout, I got a 6 lb rainbow. :hyper:

6lb is a big rainbow! Sounds like it was a very good trip.

I'm just back from 4 days camping on the NFCDA. Good time and not too many other anglers there on weekdays.
Caught quite a few fish and saw my first black bear cub up there (between Kit Price and Devils Elbow campgrounds).

Fished a Channer 7'-6" 4wt and a Bill Taylor 7'-6" 5wt quad.

Heading out early in the AM for the Selway. Three days of fishing there, staying in a old motel. Come home for an evening then head back down with the trailer to stay at a FS campground for 1.5 weeks (on the same river). Have I mentioned that it's my favorite time of year?

Sounds very interesting. I am going on SS in Nov. and I'm still not sure if I'll keep working, even at reduced hours.

I went on SS 15 months ago, Medicare this month.
Best thing I ever did (besides quitting work for 30 months to become a trout bum 18 years ago) you'll enjoy the time to get stuff done, and it doesn't have to be done today.

Spent time on the St Joe last week. Caught some of the biggest fish I have ever seen there. Good times!
Headed to the upper NFCDA Thursday, going to fish my Taylor 7'-6" quad. Should be good!

Hit the NF and the Joe this past week, finishing it out for the year.
Took a time out to try a new rifle, always good times on the river.

Time to tie flys now!

Thought I'd add something "new". In one of the posts I mentioned a mid 40's Montague 7.5 ft Fishkill rod. Love fishing it, but on a recent outing the cork grip came loose from the rod. I replaced the cork with new rings and then used a Shopsmith I have to turn the grip down to a very close copy of the original. I  also had to replace the reel seat. Back in the day Montague pinned and glued the seats in place so it was impossible to remove without destroying it. I replaced it with a modern walnut inset seat. In the second pic you can see the new wraps I did (lighter green but the correct thread color, at the hook keeper and the added guides on the tip sections, makes the rod cast better) Came out looking great!

Original.

New seat and cork.

Very nice job on the seat and cork!
Been a slow year for fishing for me, had a knee replaced in mid April and still can not fully bend it. More surgery happening next month. Still doing my end of September trip, 25th year!

I was supposed to be at the lake I mentioned last year (6 lb 'Bow)  but the fires in Ca.  have pushed that back till early Sept.  hopefully.

What a day on the Joe. I was moving slow due to a slow healing knee replacement and I had forgot my wading shoes for wet wading. Still I had an epic day on the river.
First stop I fished all the runs that most folks do at this hole, then slowly made my way up stream a 1/4 mile or so on rocks still wet with morning dew. Using my wading staff to brush the grass and branches of their water I made my way up stream to a run I had fished last year. Second cast a beautiful 17" cutty took my dry fly. That was it for that run. Made my way upstream a few miles. It's really nice to be able to hit the river on weekdays when there are not alot of folks are out. Second stop was a popular spot in the low 60 mile markers. I worked hard for fish there, did well and decided to move up stream. Next stop was a run that I know, hunters camp there and when I pulled in there were camp sites set up but no one there. I walked the trail to the river knocking down dew knowing I was the first to fish this run today. Over the next two hours I had a fish on most of the time. They wanted a caddis, didn't matter what size, 16 to 8.. it all worked. My best day ever on this water. Fished a Channer 7'-6" 4wt boo with a wulff 5wt line. Will go back next week.
