We have an unheated crawlspace, so we have to leave faucets dripping or face the potential of burst pipes. Some people say that it doesn't help, but my dad always did it, and we never had any pipes bust when I was growing up.
I've been doing that for years with the outside spigot (100' from house and about 3' out of the ground). I didn't do it last week when it was so cold and I had to replace a busted elbow on the spigot.
A few years ago I had to leave it dripping for a few days ....had a huge ice cube and no busted piping.
Yes, I could wrap it with insulation but I'm lazy and it isn't that cold here very often.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.†- Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948
"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within." Stalin
