Mrs. Diesel suffers from it as well, but is allergic to Lyrica.  Still, she tries to do whatever she can around the house.

She is on disability, not from fibro, but from too many years as an EMT, pulling doped out DUmbasses from car wreaks.  2 failed back surgeries, and a hip replacement later, she does more in her sleep than a DUmmie can do in a lifetime.

In the course of the call I explained my condition-a major sleep disorder & fibromyalgia. I told him how hard it was to fill out these forms with my hands going numb & cramping.  But has no problem typing out long, whining screeds on DU.

From personal experience as someone with fibromyalgia and sleep issues (they go together), I'd suggest this DUmmie go through a sleep study to see if sleep apnea is an issue. If so, it can be treated.

While fibromyalgia is real, it doesn't mean you have to stop living or being a productive member of society. My 18 year old niece has it. She takes Lyrica. It helps most of the time. It hasn't stopped. She's a costume designer and assistant director for a local theater group. Everyone has a story. You can use it as an excuse to let life defeat you or you can use it as an excuse to stop trying.

If it is hard for you to fill out forms, they will do it for you. Get a photocopy of the completed form. Remember the name of the person you talked to and note the date and time. If your payment did not arrive, they can give you a special payment. It will work out in the end.

The real problem at SSA is not incompetency or lack of caring. The problem is that resources and personnel have been cut so much that people are overwhelmed and no one knows what the hell is going on any more. I worked for SSA for almost 35 years. I saw our staff go from almost 50 to under 30. All while the workloads were increasing massively.

In my opinion, it is part of a deliberate plan to decrease confidence in the program so they can privatize it. My blood pressure went down 20 points when I retired.

In the private sector, I bet his department would operate with 10 people and not miss a beat.

My wife has fibromyalgia, but she still drives 1hour to work, works a full day as a Speech Language Pathologist, then comes home. I've seen days where she can barely get out of bed, but she still does it.

Its not fibro that is bogus, it's people thinking they can make money off of a 'disability' that is bogus.

My wife proves to me every day that you are only held back by things you LET hold you back. A lesson the DUches need to learn.

I can understand how he feels, just wanted him to know that not all of the cases of fibro are a ticket to the gravy train. My wife hasn't let her disease make her a victim. Its one of the many reasons I love her and am proud of her.
