Recently I heard someone say, "moderate Muslims are those that have not cut off any heads but wish they could".
One time--this was a few years ago--I read a transcript of an interview held on National Public Radio, with three Egyptians. They'd been educated in the United States, and lived here a while, and were on the whole favorably inclined towards us.
At one point, the interviewer used the term, "moderate Moslems," and suddenly there was silence.
The three Egyptians were obviously confused, and consulted among themselves in their own language; it appeared they were trying to figure out what the term meant.
Finally, one asked the interviewer, "What do you mean, please?
"It's all black-and-white; one's either a Moslem, or not a Moslem."
