Right now "Plaza Aztica" is good, but I don't knoww how far they have spread. Chilli's, etal, except Bennigan's, all excell at BLAND .  Outback Steakhouse has good beef. P'aza has GREAT Margaritas

Waffel House? They are either very good or awful. But only for breakfast.

Carlos Murphy's was the best of the formula restaurants.

I can't stand Bennigan's and the last two times I was there (not of my own choosing) the service sucked so bad we left (both times).

BEG, where was that" The Bennigan's just off Rt. 13 in Virginia Beach VA has always given very good service, and the food was above average for Va Beach, VA,...Maybe it is just me....and the fact I usually have at least 4 others with me when I go in. Waitstaff loves the idea of a big tip.

Next time you walk out, say to the door person that the servIce is unacdeptable and TIP stands for TO INSURE PROMPTNESS.

Appleby's...blech.  Overpriced sucky food.  Like Chili's  (like their queso and chips).  Hadn't been to Bennigans in forever, but went for a dance hooya, and was pleasantly surprised.  Ruby Tuesday's is also overpriced for mediocre food.

Most of the time, if the food is OK, I'll give the place another shot is service was bad.  If the food isn't good though, I usually won't go back.

In NY this weekend, ate at one place, food SUCKED....Channel4 Irish something or other.  Ate another place, a diner in the mall...OMG...best burger I've had in I don't know how long!!

Oh and BTW. Any resturant food is probably going to taste like something off the Food Network after the tastebuds you once had were destroyed from being exposed to MRE's.

I've worked at two different Bennigans.  Everything comes from a box, bag, or can.

Yech.

My tastebuds must have healed themselves!!

I like MY salsa  and MY queso dip. I can usually find  some decent tortilla chips at the store.

BTW, Sambos was one of the few places that was usually good. Too bad the racists started whining. Too bad they never truly understood the story of Little Black Sambo.

Go to Appleby's!
Unless you like decent food.

I do agree with Undies, not a bad place to meet up with folks to relax, have a drink, etc....

... and TIP stands for TO INSURE PROMPTNESS.
Not to be a dick, but if that were the case, we'd be leaving waitresses teps, not tips.

That is, unless the tip is to be considered a premium paid to the Restaurant Mutual to indemnify one against cold food  :-)

I used to ride my bike on the LBJ freeway & Centerville. (Of course the freeway was still under construction then).

The nearest Waffle House for me, which I THINK of as an icon of the restaurant industry, is in McKinney. I didn't discover Waffle Houses until after I got stationed in Norfolk, Va. They weren't in Texas back in '75 or before.

you may be right, i have no idea. i was driving in 1981, graduated high school in 82... so, the world, as i knew it, didnt exist before then :-)

I use to live in North Wynnewood.  Beautiful neighborhood.  Unique custom homes from the 1950's designed by Frank Lloyd Wright wannabes.  Huge trees lining winding streets.  Slopes and valleys and a little lake surrounded by graceful weeping willows.  The perfect American postcard.  It looks the same today as it did fifty years ago -

Except now it is home to artsy homosexuals and their one-note "progressive" friends.  Have your bro check it out.

LMAO my friend (the one you guys have seen in a few of my pictures) put a contract on one of the very homes you describe (I can't remember the name of the architect).  Never mind that their kids didn't want to move, they wanted to move to a "HIP" area and the school district be damned.  Who cares if the schools are crap, your house is COOL.  The contract fell through because the house had major issues and they lost their earnest money.   Your "one-note progressive" description made me laugh as it fits.  I still love her though, she is a good person.

To the majority of homosexuals and their friends, schools are not a concern.  :)

What is a concern is that these drop-dead gorgeous Oak Cliff neighborhoods are isolated by the ghetto mindset found just across the first major street in any direction.  Sad really.  Oak Cliff was a wonderous place to grow up back in the day.

For grins:

This house from that website use to belong to my best friend's family.  They lived here until about 1969.  It had four bedroom and three baths.  You could throw a formal ball in the kitchen, which was connected to the pool/garden area by three huge sliding glass doors.  It was a beatuiful home.  Twice our home over on the cheap street.

I remember there was quite an uproar when they put it on the market in 1967 or '68 for $38,000.00.  It was an unheard of high price in the neighborhood.  Neighbors were up in arms over the potential increase in property taxes.  There was no way they were going to get "that much", etc.  They didn't.

They sold it for about ten thousand less a couple of years later.  Those were the days.

My parents paid $13,500 for our house in 1964.  :lmao:

wow.. my grandparents house in Fort Worth looked just like that.. red brick, one level, white front doors... HUGE yard. pecan trees all over the place.

that was a great time to be a kid.. when houses had yards.
