Bedbugs On Detroit Buses? Councilwoman Reports The Problem

Quote
DETROIT (WWJ) It’s a situation that is really bugging bus riders — and creating a potentially itchy, scratchy ride in Detroit. Just when riders thought the problem-riddled transit system couldn’t get any worse, there’s reportedly a bed bug situation.

Detroit Councilwoman Brenda Jones brought up the issue of bedbugs on city buses during a recent meeting. She said she’d been told by a young lady that they’re a problem, and wanted to know what’s being done to solve the problem.

D-DOT Director Dan Dirks says many systems nationwide have had to deal with this dilemma — and Detroit’s buses are sprayed periodically.

Another day in Detroit.  :mental:

Gross.  Did NY ever clean up their bedbug infestation?

When government enables "alternative lifestyles" that don't include basic hygiene this is the price ordinary citizens pay for that "compassion".

Just think of all the buses and planes being used to transport the disease ridden illegals from Texas to other states.

Look on the bright side.....the bed bugs on the bus aren't any crazier than the insects holding public office in Detroit.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

The question of bugs of any kind drives me boinkers.

One place I worked had roaches climbing out the walls, The Bathrooms, Caff. and offices were sprayed so only occasionally would a roach be seen but the production area both wet and dry areas, and dry storage were full of the buggers.

These nasty's came in on  the cardboard for packing the product and on wooden pallets used to contain them.   In the dry storage area the breading etc. were placed in the same area as the packing and spraying was not allowed around the editable food packed in paper bags.

Bugs are, well bugs, some can live after being frozen for a couple months.    With all the imports from far away places and their pallets going from one place to another by truck or rail, more come into the country then any number of humans and breed much faster.

Bed bugs, now those scare me more then spiders, they hitch hike on most anything.  Was it Macys in NY that had to shut down for a week a couple years ago as the well heeled clients complained their clothing and up scale items were infected with the bug ?

Hotel and Motel rooms advise a guest not to place their carry cases on the floor.   HUMMMMM.

How on earth I ever so far escaped the bugs is a wonder to me.  Worse and most interesting Motel I stayed at was on a cross country trip and a night in Winnmucka  how ever that is spelt, in NA. and the bottom 2 feet of the bed had a heavy plastic covering on it.

As I was just 21 years old I asked my hubby why and he told me that hooking was legal  and the plastic kept the bed cover clean when the Johns kept their shoes on.  Never even thought of bed bugs until 30 years later.

Kids when put to bed the grandparents would tell me " Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite, make a wish and blow out the light"   There  one would blow at the light and the grandparents would click off the light at the wall switch.

Just one bed bug brought home on clothing can destroy your bed and as we know a 3rd. rate mattress and  box springs cost to replace is around $500.00  on sale.

I was in Detroit in May, 2011, for a close friend's funeral. His sister and I drove around downtown so she could show me locales that were memorable from when her and John (my deceased buddy) were kids. Their dad was manager of the largest cafeteria in the downtown area. They used to take the bus downtown to eat there. It was once a safe, beautiful, and cultured city. It didn't take long for the current majority to turn it into the festering shithole it is now. Driving through most of it was like driving through Berlin right after the war.

The city may have looked that way but from what I understand the people are way different.   In Berlin the people loved their leader until they were bombed out of their homes, their 14 year old sons were sent to the front to die fighting the Russians.

Now you place the people in Detroit in that situation where any knock on the door means the boys will be forced to go off to war, any over the age of 14, no food stamps or medical for their family, taken by storm trouper at the point of a gun--------

I do wonder what would happen then.
