Exactly, SSB.

I lived & voted in Chicago for years, not exactly a bastion of the right wing.  It never took me more than 20 minutes to vote.  I served as an election judge twice, and the lines were never long.  Why?  There were polling locations freaking everywhere.

If a goofy backwards political city like Chicago can accomplish that, why can't others emulate it?

Well, CaliforniaPeggy has thrown up a couple of links from some far-left sites - second one from that cesspool Salon just says that it's suppression because it's often done in "red states", the one from (don't)Think(don't)Progress actually says:

It's called "Election DAY" for a reason, DUmbasses.  Early voting = voting fraud as far as I'm concerned, and if you're too f'n lazy to vote on "Election DAY", maybe you shouldn't be voting at all...

I've voted in every election (which is every year) held in Virginia since I turned 18 back in 1978.  I've had to show ID EVERY SINGLE TIME.  (Yes, even back in 1978.  Suck it, DUmbasses!!!)

Exactly Tess.  :cheersmate:

And the voter ID as a suppression tactic is a red herring as well.  Many states now make a picture ID free of charge.

The reason I find it interesting is because I seem to remember a big to-do several years back because a conservative organization provided pamphlets to evangelical/fundamentalist churches that showed the candidates' stance on various issues. Based only on my recollection, the pamphlets did NOT tell anyone who to vote for. It only listed each candidate's stance on issues such as abortion. The left pitched fits and claimed it was a violation of church and state.

Not only do we need voter ID laws, but we need ways of keeping people from voting twice.  How about using indelible ink like they do in other countries. You go and vote, and your finger or thumb is marked with. A quick check at the polling place would determine if you voted somewhere else.

Early voting and voting by mail should be restricted to military.
