I think I saw racial prejudice today
I was shopping at Kroger. A black guy who has worked there for well over a year was manning the express register (15 items or less). There were 3 other lanes open, for big orders, like mine. In each lane, there were older white people with 3 or 4 things each. I can't help thinking that they would rather wait behind big orders, than get checked out by a black man. I'm friendly with many of the Kroger clerks, including this man. He is friendly and helpful. He told me I should come through his lane, when I was already unloading. I didn't take him up on it, because the last time the clerk let me go through the express lane with a big order, an old lady yelled at me that I had too many things. He wasn't busy right then, so he came out from his register and helped me unload my cart, then helped bag, then went back to his register when someone came through. The older lady clerk checking out my order, the younger bagger, the black clerk and I all had a quick conversation about the missing plane, so the isolated old people missed out on that-- and some decent human contact.

this is how it should go:

Racist Old White People called out in Krogers
SO, I was shopping at Kroger. An African American guy who has worked there for well over a year was manning the express register (15 items or less). He and I ahd talked a few times over the last year and I knew he was working this job while going to college at night for policical Science. I talked him into joining the young democrats on campus. There were 3 other lanes open, for big orders, like mine. In each lane, there were older white people with 3 or 4 things each. I could hear them talking to themselves about how they would rather wait behind big orders, than get checked out by a ******. I said in a loud voice ”I would love to use your express lane. How are your college classes going?” He said they were going fine. One of the old white guys snarked, “Bet he got in through affirmative action. “ I said, “No- he got through on the G.I. Bill. He is a vet who served in the un-lawful law of Bush jr. He was wounded and came home to make a better life for himself and his family.”  By now a crowd has stopped to listen. Quit a few broke out in a cheer for this guy. I could see a couple of the old white people nodding their heads. As I finished checking out one of the old people came up and patted me on the shoulder. She said, “Thank you for what you did. We need more people to stand up for what it right.”
The older lady clerk checking out my order, the younger bagger, the black clerk and I all had a quick conversation about the missing plane, so the isolated old people missed out on that-- and some decent human contact. As I walked out of the door a cop jumped out of the bushes ansd was writing the loud mouth bigot up for no current registration and no handicapped parting sticker on his car. The cop met my eye (also an African American) and winked.

The deliberate typos were a nice touch.

What a stupid story.  Why are they living 50 years in the past?  Nothing like this happens ever.

I've mentioned this before, I think a bouncy contest would be good fun.

Certainly we could do better then a cop jumping out of a bush.

Oh, for crap sakes! She counted items in everyone's cart? She knows everyone who only had a few items in their cart didn't also have a bunch of other items on the belt? And she knows the guy had been standing there for ages while people bypassed him and he didn't just open? Or didn't have a really long line so people decided to stand in other lines? Heck, maybe the black guy had just taken over for a cranky old white guy who went on break.

I see you need a little bit of education. Try this, especially the part of Third Person Omniscient. And don't miss the part about Unreliable Narrator.

I saw racism at K Mart yesterday, or she might have just been a black idiot Obama voter, BIRM.

A white woman had a ton of underwear type items, both male and female stuff and there was only one other lane open and  we got in that one.  They closed our lane after we got in it and told other customers to get in the other lane.  The black lady that tried to get in line behind us complained about how much stuff the woman had in the other line.

However, the cashier that was working the line we were in told her that we were the last she was ringing up. Our cashier was black also.  (They were in the process of opening two more lines.)  Also, the cashier told us that 3 people had called in sick that day and she working past her shift until more people could be called in.

Hi5 to you. That was good. Best Bouncy in a long time. Lurking DUmmies should save this for reference in writing their own Bouncies.
