Oh my.

I'm really desperate for replenishing inventory in the DUmpster.

There's a forum for survivors of natural disasters on Skins's island; thus far since the new DU more than two years ago, it's got a whopping fourteen threads.

And you-know-who's been there, although not lately.

My Home town, Joplin Mo was hit by a EF-5+ Tornado and I watched.

There was nothing I could do but hide. Dave had to grab me and get me to shelter. I was a deer in the headlights. As of May 22, 2011 I am Homeless. I am nown Springfield Mo,homeless. Can't find work. Going to take income Tax and go to Arizona, Dave's home state, and pray for something better.

I just hope I can get through this tornado season without a nervous breakdown. The sound of the sirons cause me panicattacks. I have been on meds for it but it doesn't stop the memeries.

I was out of it for about 6 weeks after the storm. Many of the things that I remember I wish I could forget.

An update in hopes that it will give others hope.

We did make it to Tucson AZ. We were able to get in to a program through the VA to ge housing and with an address it is easier to get thing done and back on our own two feet.
 
It took us a while, but we can see a little light. I am going through PTSD therapy. People keep saying that I should have had a breakdown by now. I tell them I am a hard headed liberal!
 
Right now many are out there that sees no light. I know that feeling. But please hang in there! The light will come back,slow as it seem (to the point hat it feels like all the light went out of the world), it will be back!

Coming up to year 2 of the tornado.

And I still hurt. I can't sign into FB due to people posting about the anniversary. Much is still in shamble there. Some things look better, but many of the homes are still not rebuilt.
 
The Dreams are getting more often. Doc says it is due to the upcoming anniversary. Will I be haunted every May for the rest of my life?

I have been seeing picture from Moore and other areas that have been hit lately. I have tried to avoid seeing too much due to PTSD.
 
I know this night is like a bad, bad dream for them. They are unsure and scared for the future.
 
But the odd thing is hearing that people were praying for us was a comfort. It was like I knew I had the country cheering me on. They wanted to see me "win" to make it. So I am praying, I am Cheering for them, like I know many were doing for me.
 
Just like Donations, Prayer is needed to. I wish I could explain.

Got caught in a dust devil a few days ago and freaked.

I was setting at a bus stop when a dust devil hit.

I don't really know why, but I freaked. I had some sort of flashback.

Some of the people there had no idea what was wrong, but wanted to help. Others had some "funny" things to say. Dave was there and was holding me as tight as he dared. He was afraid of hurting me.
 
After I calmed down, I was so embarrassed. I don't know why it caused a flashback. But I hate that I did that.

It was a good thing Dave was there. I was freaking. People around had no clue what was wrong.
 
It was something about the wind and the stuff it was blowing around.

Add to it that those things can just pop up around here. I will have to figure out if more meds will help or if the councilor has some sort of technique that will help.
 
I felt so bad about those people watching it. So many was wanting to help. You could see they felt helpless.
 
It sort of made me feel good that so many there was wanting to help. It is a good feeling to know people still care for others. Even if they don't know them.

Back in Joplin, not happy.

It is still bad weather season here. I was tossed on the streets by the man I thought loved me and now back in the one place I do not want to be!
 
I keep watching the weather and hoping against hope my worse fears are not going to happen!

Been almost 3 years now since the tornado

Still having a rough time, getting better however. Therapy has me reliving some of the nastiness I saw. Trying to work out the sudden loss of everything. Sometimes I wonder why I can't put it behind me.

It'a a good thing Dreamboat Dave was there when the dust devil struck!

That must have been before Evil Chad talked him into giving Amber the boot.

So then she returned to Joplin, started a promising convenience-store-clerking career, gave Crystal Naydean's government trailer a dose of bedbugs, and then got the DUmp to buy her a bus ticket back to Tucson.

Back in Tucson, Dreamboat Dave doesn't want her, and he's in the hospital on death's doorstep anyway.

Bunking at the Tucson Sally, she hooks up with the imaginary ripped indian (woo-woo, not red dot) Chief Running Drugs, who's hoping she'll help transport weed from south of the border.

She spends some time in the teepee, learning to make Apache shit bread, but gets the boot from the other squaws.

Then out of the clear blue sky the taxpayers of Tucson offer her a free apartment with custom selected furniture and a loaded refrigerator, and a part time job serving coffee to other whackjobs.

And so, as Jesco White's wife would say, that's her life, up til now.

Oh, close, really close. Say several blocks away. The shingles got ripped off the section 8 housing her and Dreamboat Dave were shacked up in. Owner gave her and Dreamboat's vermin ridden bodies the snake-eye and used the opportunity to heave her and the Dreamboat onto the hard, rocky shores of reality.

And she won't "get over it(!!!111!!!)" until there's nowhere else to go and get FREE STUFF.

I've never been in a tornado--I'm one of probably only six or half a dozen native Nebraskans who never in his life saw a tornado or a live rattlesnake (and most have seen both)--and I imagine it's a pretty horrifying event, living through one.

However, life is full of terrifying events.

For example, there's members here who've actually confronted, up close, face-to-face, people who wanted to kill them, to wipe them out (veterans of combat, obviously), and I'd rate that, probably as a more hideous experience than dealing with a tornado.

At least a tornado bearing down on one isn't being personal, out to get one specifically.

Of course it discombobulates, but these people seem to "get over it."  I'm sure it's not easy, but they do, for which they have my own awesome admiration; they're far better men (and women) than I am.

I think Amber's hanging onto this because she likes the drugs she gets.
