I love Gordon Ramsay. Another on I like is Robert Irvine's "Restaurant Impossible". It has a similar format, but he shows a little more on decorating the restaurant, many are real dives.
The owners choose to be part of these reality shows because they are in trouble. IMO, it doesn't matter if they go under after a show, because that's where they were headed in the first place. If the show helps them turn it around, or they are able to get a few bucks selling it, then they made a good decision.
Amy of Amy's Baking Company belongs in a mental hospital. There is something seriously wrong with that woman.
I read that many restaurants that appear on Kitchen Nightmares fail within a year. They were endanger of failing from what I remember watching.
