W.Va. Sen. Jay Rockefeller to retire
« on: January 11, 2013, 09:45:09 AM »
Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller will announce Friday that he will not seek a sixth term in 2014, setting the stage for a pitched battle for his Senate seat in West Virginia.

He is slated to announce his plans in Charleston.

Rockefeller, a former two-term governor and current chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, has been in the Senate since 1985. He has sparred in recent years with the state's coal mining industry and is a staunch supporter of President Obama, who is unpopular in the state.

Rockefeller told the Associated Press he wants to spend more time with his family. "I've gotten way out of whack in terms of the time I should spend with my wife and my children and my grandchildren," he said.

Rockefeller is the first Democrat up for re-election in 2014 to announce his political plans, which will give the party plenty of time to recruit a candidate. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, a Republican whose father was once governor, has declared her intention to run for the Senate in 2014.

The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

That carpetbagger is finally going home?  Yay!
"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

John C Calhoun, "Disquisition on Government", 1840

How much you wanna bet he doesn't say word effin one about gun control, lest he poison the well and flip the seat to the GOP?

Hell, after what Manchin has said already I'd be kind of surprised to see that seat stay in Dem hands.  A lot of folks in WV are PISSED right now.
