So, my lay off last month doesn't jibe
We were informed that there was a 20% across the board at their plants worldwide. Turns out there were no other lay offs. As a matter of fact, there's an article dated Thursday announcing a new product line.

Another interesting little tidbit : a local TV station drove down to do a story about the lay off. They were refused an interview or even a statement. They were also informed that if they were on their property the TV crew would be arrested - and they own plenty of property that isn't developed or even has signs stating it's their property.

It feels like they're hiding something. Lay offs and threats during the holidays- what a wonderful way to show how much the corporate world cares.

Oh, and they've held up unemployment.

And another one bites the dust...

They are cutting 120 at my location, the first round was before Christmas netted 10. More to come this week and the following two weeks. They have kept us in this state of uncertainty for 6 months now.

I do have an interview on Monday though, so hopefully it won't matter what happens here.

And another one's gone, and another one gone...

They followed fed rules to the letter, layed off 25% of staff. Ba$tards gave us two weeks pay, so "generous". May they rot in a very special circle in hell.

I was working 60-70 hourweeks for a 40 hour paycheck.

Fortunately I found a new job, start on Monday. But its a 3 hour commute each day. I hope you find a good job soon too!

Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust.

I'd love to know how you were privy to that information seeing as how the 20% was a cumulative number spread over a number of locations.

UE claims take a minimum of five weeks to process.  I doubt it's been "held up" at all, merely the result of overworked claims processors due to the state of the economy.

That's the thing. The DUmmy is saying the the company didn't have the 20% across the board layoff. Maybe when he went to file for unemployment, there wasn't anyone else in the room that he recognized.

That's when reality set in.

I have no sympathy dummie. None at all. Zip. Zero. Nada. That is what you get for voting for obumbles. The first to go are the marginal employees and as a dummie you qualify. You wanted it. You voted for it. You were successful and now you OWN IT!!!!

Sucks to be you. Maybe you should scrape the obumbles stickers off your car.

That is all predicated on you actually getting laid off and not fired for failing a drug test. If it is the later, that is why you ain't getting unemployment.

I'm K&Ring this from over the weekend.

For companies in survival mode-which is nearly all of them now--the first thing you do is get rid of the deadwood ASAP.  They simply can't afford to have tagalong DUmmies taking up space and cash.  Plenty of people still out there with fire in the belly, who don't think that profit is a dirty word, and who actually like to work.

I love that little quote.  Look how sad, plaintive, and bleating it is.  Look how hopeless and desperate.  It's also infantile, waiting for someone to do something for it.

For you DUmmies with jobs.  On the annual eval, in the section for "initiative," do they often write, "needs tremendous improvement in this area...does not live up to expectations..."   ?

I'm really having a hard time finding any kind of sympathy for these people.

They got what they voted for.

And it's absolutely mind boggling that not a one of the DUmmies even remotely thought it would affect them.  And this time around there's no one other than the Dems and Obama to scapegoat so their little heads are REALLY hurting right now.

I have no problem believing one primitive could single-handedly cause 20% of a company's problem.  In fact, that they were able to keep the damage as low as 20% is a testimony to the management and other employees.

Isn't it wonderful?  They thought that electing a marxist halfwit (twice) was going to solve all of their problems and make the world love us.  4 years, and another wasted general election cycle, later they are still in "pain" and crying out for a savior while at the same time crowing that their messiah "won".

Some people are just too damned stupid to live.

More like this:

Quote
Want a day off work?
So you want a day off. Let's take a look at what you are asking for. There are 365 days per year available for work. There are 52 weeks per year in which you already have 2 days off per week, leaving 261 days available for work. Since you spend 16 hours each day away fron work, you have used up 170 days, leaving only 91 days available. You spend 30 minutes each day on coffee break which counts for 23 days each year, leaving only 68 days available. With a 1 hour lunch each day, you used up another 46 days, leaving only 22 days available for work. You normally spend 2 days per year on sick leave. This leaves you only 20 days per year available for work. We are off 5 holidays per year, so your available working time is down to 15 days. We generously give 14 days vacation per year which leaves only 1 day available for work and I'll be darned if you are going to take that day off!
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

I suspect the company only had five employees, and they met their goal.  :whistling:
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”
