Fear.
A great portion of our populace is ruled by fear.
Fear; that's why they vote for loud, bombastic, senseless politicians:

them or suggests a change in some kind of public arena.

You want to talk about fear? Fear is what drives you loons. You fear debate so you post only on a site where no other opinions are allowed. You fear another opinion so much you demand that conservative speech be shut out of the tee vee and the radio. You fear guns so much that you think no one should be allowed to have one, yet you can't figure out that the bad guys will keep their guns. You fear a hot day in July and claim the world is dying from global warming. You fear having to provide for yourself so instead of trying you demand that others give you stuff. Yeah you goons know a thing or 2 about fear.

I too have always thought that dogs were mainly detection devices that gave you an idea that you should be preparing to shoot.

I tend to think that the Conservatives that stay at home with their gun are the survivors in life.  It is the Libs. that have kids coming up missing, home invasions as they are defenceless and sitting ducks.

Got that covered, shithead.  I have a yappy, ankle-biter that barks at everything and a big dog that only barks at "threats".  If the little one starts, and the big one joins in, that's my cue to strap up and investigate.  It's called layered defense, DUmbass, and it works very well. 

Thanks for your concern, but I've got it under control.  If we didn't have so much liberal created issues in our country, I might not need either.

If it's such a great idea why are they not living in South Central L.A. or the Bronx or Detroit? Go live in the slums of America and do it without any weapons and see how much fun you and your families have. I'd like to know . You think its all good and well for the rest of the country to live without fear of guns then by all means do so.

Wasp, you are very Old school, perhaps taking lessons from 2,000 years ago.

From owing both a Rottweiler and a Taco dog at the same time, I can understand how these things work.

This is the perfect compliment of Animals.   A 5 pound dog that is hyper alert with a 105 pound massive destruction dog that sleeps soundly.  The slightest noise in the night and the little neurotic dog starts barking and awakens the sleeping behemoth. Now the guard dog is alert and and checking things out.

If the guard dog begins to also bark, then is when one investigates the problem, preferably armed themself.   

Those big dogs do sleep soundly and the Ankle biters are the ones that wake them up---Least as far as I have seen in my life time and reading history of the Mongel Hoards that ravaged Europe way back when. 

The war dogs ran with the horses but the smaller dogs road in some kind of bags with the warriors on horse back.  The little dogs kept them warm at night and alerted the camps war dogs to all noise as the big guys were sleeping exausted.

Isn't it cruel and speciesist to exploit a dog in that way? I mean, placing it between you and a violent person for selfish purposes? You expect the dog to risk itself and possibly sustain injury or death on your behalf. That's pretty cowardly, to hide behind an innocent, unreasoning animal like that. Why do you hate dogs?

I do have a dog and an alarm system with a motion detector.  Here is how this all works:

1) Dog barks...
2) Motion detector goes off if you decide to enter my house through doors or window
3) The house alarm tells me to get my gun.  If you still don't run, you're dead.

You have a couple of chances to turn around before a gun is in your face.
