Insuring everyone in this country is going to be incredibly expensive until we start getting people healthier and skinnier. There are a lot of people who have obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes through no fault of their own. But for many people, those conditions are their fault as a result of their diet. Unless you enjoy paying higher health care costs due to people's poor diet and habits, we need to start taxing unhealthy food/drink products. We can use the money to either help pay for universal healthcare, or use the money to subsidize healthy foods so they are cheaper. We should also figure out which vitamins/ supplements help people the most and encourage people to take them--by offering them at free or reduced costs.

And we need to ensure poor people have easy access to healthy products to they won't get hit extra hard by these regulations

Of course even the "plus-sized" primitives who chomp down fattening foods wouldn't care if it were taxed more; after all, they don't pay the taxes, the taxpayers do.

That is, I'm assuming in states where sales tax is collected on food, EBT cards pay the tax too.  (I don't know.)

As "food insecurity " has replaced malnutrition for an excuse to provide welfare,  the obesity problem is probably more common in Dummies than any other group.  A simpler "fix" would be to turn food charity back to charities,  and hand out FOOD instead of money.

Though it's quite possible that Obama's energy policies will kill A/C for all but the truly rich, so "morbid" obesity would take its toll much, much faster.

DUmmies are pot smokers. Junk food is part of their habit. I can see why they would resist this tax.
In liberal logic taxes are for other people to pay, never liberals.

Junk food is cheap. This would hit the poor at a time when all food is rising in price.
But democrats don't care. They never do. They know the real money is with the middle class.

Taxing cigarettes and now unhealthy food/drinks/products decreases the use of those products but taxing investments will somehow make people invest more.  The holding of two counter points one accepts proves mental illness, the question is does one have to be mentally ill to be a leftist or does being a leftist make one mentally ill?

There is some idiot professor in Australia that wants smoker to have to buy a license to be able to buy tobacco products. These DUmmies want to tax unhealthy food/drinks/products. Go ahead DUmmies tax away because when you finish taxing everything we like or do, they are coming after you next. I would suggest every one of you getting these freebees from the government has to pay a freebee tax of 50% of the value of every one of the freebees you get.

Which is the point of the OP- if we are going to have national HC where we all have to share costs, then there is nothing wrong with exploring ways to reduce costs and risks.

You say she eats what she wants, but she is still very heavy, as opposed to fit and trim. In other words, she is still at risk of developing further health problems associated with obesity.

If she is still "very heavy", but never has to see the doctor and never has to take any prescription medicine (costing us all) , then maybe you have a point.

Yes, this is exactly WTF conservatives are talking about when we warn that turning health care over to the government would make us subject to their whims and decrees about our personal lives, and the DUmbasses denied it, and now they're sitting here condoning it. Yet if you say something critical about food stampers buying junk food or suggest drug testing for welfare recipients, they hit the ceiling and declare you a fascist.

There is no such thing as "junk food".

It's a leftist invention, just like "gas guzzler", "Saturday night special", and "second hand smoke".

The huge 0bamaite parasites we see every day get that way because of their eating habits and laziness.

The existence of tasty processed food is not the reason we're supporting these parasites.

There's nothing wrong with "empty calories" as long as you enjoy them.

Just don't enjoy a thousand of them and then sit on your ass all day.

I often have the opportunity to see the EBT balance on a customer's receipt while at work.

I am no longer shocked at what they spend the money on or how much money some people have "banked."

About 10% of the purchase is healthy (I might be exaggerating in their favor) on top of some families getting several thousands of dollars in name brand prescriptions for behavior issues for their children every month. It's not uncommon for just one child to have Medicaid foot the bill for $1500 or more in medication. Why the **** do the DUmmies care about Obamacare? They already have the best insurance that tax payers can buy......MEDICARE.

I can always spot the welfare folks in line at the grocery store. They got steaks and kinds of shit in their buggies. Then when they put it up on the belt, they always have their cases of beer and cigs separate. I've got to where I can even spot them in the aisles of the store... they just toss what ever they want in the buggy. People watching their dollars always look at the price.

I can spot welfare folks at the pharmacy too. They are the ones that are wearing designer clothes, got bling, cell phones, the whole nine yards. Their meds are usually 2 or 4 bucks. Oh and they are rude. If the script ain't filled right then they complain loudly... and there is always something wrong that requires 20 minutes to resolve.

Pisses me off. I'm to the point I want the country to go broke. These leeches wouldn't last a winter.   :argh: :argh: :argh:

You pretty much summed it up.  They are too lazy to even contact their own doctor for refills. They call in expired prescriptions, then are mad when they can't pick them up.  :rotf:  They are also ALWAYS trying to pick up CII (controlled substance) drugs early this also includes CII & CIV, they will keep calling in the same Rx numbers to the automtated system after we have already told them it's too early....then we are told we are liars, etc.....

Of course I may or may not be telling the truth, I could never legally bad mouth dirt bag DUmmies that won't work for a ****ing living. That is of course, if I really did know any thing about the retail pharmacy biz....this is all fake but accurate!
