Calls to boycott Applebee's after CEO threatens hiring freeze and layoffs over Obamacare

Move over Chick-fil-A, fast food is getting political again.

Papa John's came under fire this week when CEO John Schnatter floated a plan to cut worker hours to reduce spiking employee health care costs under the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare.

Now, Applebee's is being boycotted after a major New York area Applebee's franchise owner Zane Tankel threatened a hiring freeze and possible layoffs as a result of the president's healthcare plan.

Twitter immediately erupted with calls for a boycott.

'So far I've seen Papa John's and Applebees threatening to fire people since their choice didn't win the election. Disgusting on either side,' read one tweet.

'BOYCOTT APPLEBEES NOW,' read another.

'Add @Applebees to the list of unpatriotic businesses who are firing people because Barack Obama won,' tweeted another.

These stories are popping up everywhere. No surprise since it was forewarned even by everyones main street shop owners. Too many are living in a fantasy, supported by knowledgable ignorance and propaganda.

Signs of the times, only businesses to thrive will be the Temp Agency's. Somehow they will get around the laws, they all ways do.

The thing that makes me very nervous are the health care centers that all ready take in Temps.   Nothing like having a Nurse that speaks limited English at your bedside. As these workers are not actual employees of a facility if one screws up medication and a child dies or grandpa dies, the family has little recourse as the workers are in a twilight zone.  Who are they employed by, who is responsible for them.   

Wait staff same thing, why pay someone a wage, insurance and benefits when there may be thousands of out of work well trained servers desperate for a job that can be sent to a restaurant on a moments notice and the compay has no paper work to do ?? They do not pay for a background check or piss test.  Just a call to an Agency to send in help.  The Agency gets the same money as a company would pay a hired worker and the worker gets $5-6.00 less an hour.   Helps the company's as a worker can be fired for any reason and no long drawn out battles with the labor board.   

Sign of the times, you have a company of any sort and say 75 employees.  Call in an Agency to send in people with past experience in what your company does.  In less then a month the Temps will become use to the job and you can start laying off the old timers who make good money due to Seniority.  So the old Buck that has worked with the company for 30 years and makes $60,000 a year with benefits- has trained a youngster to do their job and the kid feels lucky to get $20,000 a year with no benefits.

The last day I was in the hospital after neck surgery I had a "traveling nurse" that just signed a deal with a local agency in Las Vegas.

One of the first things she told me is that she had never worked on "this floor" before, and she "did not like it." She went on to tell me and my visitors more then once she hated being a nurse and had to sign a local contract to get a $10 an hour raise.    Then she was complaining that she had no health care. I am pretty sure she had the option of using all or part of that raise to purchase health care, but choose not to...

I almost asked her what her DU name was.

She was a shitty nurse. She told me that I was "on my own" getting from the chair to the bed due to the fact I was being released. My neck was killing me. The bed started to move. The wheels were not locked. She acted like it was my fault. Dumb ass nurse.

Rob I am so sorry for your experience but Shit happens in the best of places.   

Navy Hospital, Portsmouth VA.   

An Airforce LT. femail had a very bad  auto accident,  bad burns on her legs, she was my room mate.  Skin was removed from her butt and transplanted on the burns.  No one kept the new grafted skin moist, In 24 hours the new skin had dried up as scabs.

I against doctors orders ran away to home a few days early, Lucky me, my burns were where I could care for them myself and no skin grafts, thank you very much. It took quite a few weeks longer for me to heal without the grafts but by golly my DIY method worked as I could clean the burns 6 times a day if needed.

BTY that" traveling' Tec that is now on trial up here for giving patients Hep C., they are still trying to track all the hospitals he was sent to.   Local hospital has a court order to keep information on him out of the public knowledge, but they were kind enough to offer free blood test to his former patients.-------In some cases Hep C does not show up for 20+ years.  SHIT HAPPENS.
