How is it possible to run in two different parties?
In CT, Linda McMahon is running as an Independant AND a Republican. Won't one cancel the other out? If lots of people vote for her as an Indi, could she defeat herself as a Republican? Someone please explain how this works.

The political genius doesn`t know this?  :rotf:

2. That's easy.

Be nominated by more than one party.

In "local" elections in upstate NY, we have democratic candidates do this all the time. The reason is that many republicans take a "loyalty oath," and swear to never vote for a Democrat. By being listed as, say, a Democrat and Working Families Party candidate, even a republican can vote for you, and not violate their oath.

Good God you people are idiots.

A couple there do understand how it works.

Oh geezuz.

I suppose my twin doesn't know, among other things he doesn't know, is that Richard Nixon, in his first campaign for the House of Representatives, in 1946, out in California, he ran as both a Republican and a Democrat.

I'm not fond of it, but some states allow it.

One recalls the U.S. Senate race in New York in 1970--surely my twin would remember that--when there were three candidates, the Democrat Richard Ottinger, the Conservative James Buckley, and.....running on both the Republican and Liberal party tickets, the incumbent Charles Goodell.

And there was another long-time U.S. Senator from New York, Jacob Javits, who ran on both the Republican and the Liberal party tickets.

Like I said, I'm not fond of it, but if the law allows a candidate to be the candidate of more than one political party, well then, it's legitimate and one accepts it.

And by the way, doesn't Charles Rangel still run as both the Democrat and the Republican candidate in his district?  I dunno if he does any more, but he used to.

My twin's got to get away from the boob-tube and read some books.

I must correct myself.

In a 1946 congressional race in California, Richard Nixon ran as the Republican opponent, the Democrat being Jerry Voorhis.

In the same district in 1948, two years later, Nixon ran as both the Republican and Democrat candidate, having been so popular his first two years even the Democrats wanted him.

Sorry for the error, but actually, franksolich has probably forgotten tons more poilitical stuff than my twin ever knew, period.

I think they are actually impressed when one is a bigger idiot then they are themselves.
Needless to say McGrath impresses most of them.
He may be poor stupid Beths male equal.

Remember, our esteemed colleague FlaGator confirmed something I'd already heard, but wasn't sure of.

Behind the curtains, the primitives really think of my twin as nothing more than a laughingstock.

I'm beginning to understand how McGrath could get fired from a political junk mail outfit on the eve of a national election.

You guys got this all wrong. This just proves how super scary smart pablo is.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
