...it's the ground pounders that win the battle and ultimately the war. Taking terrain is what it's all about. You add airpower as a force multiplier, but if you cede the ground you lose.

Thus goes military strategy (and the often overlooked tactical logistics) so goes the the President's election strategy. We aren't ceding the airwaves to the ****ing Stiff, but we are overwhelmingly putting our troops in the field and on the ground.

Who said the President hasn't learned about military campaigns in the four years he's been CINC?

I can't understand how any veteran can support the democrat party. How is it they supposedly served in the military where they were defending against the soviet union then they turn around and support a party that has the same philosophy?

I don't think Aviation Pro is a veteran.  Everything he says is just a little too trite.  "Boots on the ground...yadda, yadda, yadda" sounds like somebody with a pretty rudimentary understanding of say World War II tactics.

I always thought of them as those thugs I wasin Basic Training with...those who had a choice, either the service or jail. Didn't serve out of a sense of duty, but so they stayed out of prison.

Of course, what our little scooter also fails to realize is that those "untouchable" support troops are just as necessary to keep Mr. Gun Bunny in the field.

Something like 8 support troops for each infantryman, IIRC.  I know I would have had a much harder time going to sea if I didn't have support from the IMA/tender pukes (of which I was also one for a while.)

On today's modern battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan...no one is untouchable.

Were that the case, everyone in the Army would be infantry.  Even the Marines have support groups, although to their credit they're all riflemen first.

I knew a guy years ago (30+ years maybe) that went into the Army. He didn't make it through bootcamp. I asked him how he got out. He gave me some long worded speech about how they determined that he wasn't compatible with military life. When he left I looked at his brother who had been listening and said that it sounded to me like a Section 8. His brother smiled and nodded his head.

Every time I read a post by one of these DUmp 'veterans' I think of that guy.

You have to believe along with Obama staffer Jim Messina that their ground game that will produce an electorate that is disproportionately Democratic with more minority and young voters than even in 2008 to think such a result is even possible.
