This is such a common occurence.
I used to be in a certain type of business. And I was accused of being racist twice and homphobic on another occasion. All three were inaccurate.
I fought the accusations and pushed and pushed and pushed the issue demanding an apology from the liars and was told at one point to "just drop it". But I didn't and these people had damaged my career, or potentially damaged my career. Because the facit is that people will remember the charge of racism and forget that the accuser was later proven to be a liar.
The short of the story is that two of the accusers made written apologies and all three were fired within 6 months of the accusation (the accusations all happened in a short time frame) for various other malfeasances including one was a arrested for felony assault.
The point is that all three of these people were of low moral character and that was KNOWN by the higher-ups but because they were making these charges they were asssumed to be legitimate!
So basically, what society is saying is that you can be any sort of dirtbag and still just cry homophobia, racism etc and get off the hook.
Despicable.
