South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice are among seven Republicans who have secured top speaking slots at the party's convention later this month in Tampa, the Republican National Committee announced Monday.

Others include Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Florida Gov. Rick Scott.

The keynote speaker hasn't been announced yet. There is speculation that it will either be Christ Christy, or Sara Palin. Personally I would like them both to speak.

Note: Romney has stated that he will announce his VP pick before the convention. So I am assuming that we will hear whoever that is speak as well.

Both President Bush and Vice President Cheney will not be there ...

I suspect Sen. Mark Rubio will be the keynote speaker.

The VP pick ?
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

I am hoping that Allen West is the VP pick. He would make a great VP. I also would love to see the liberals scream racism against obama then.

Why doesn't Herman Cain get any mention for VP?

Because they are worried that the women who disappeared when he dropped out will make another appearance.
When Harry Truman was President of the United States, he had a sign on his desk in the White House that said: "The buck stops here." If Barack Obama had a sign on his desk, it would say: "The buck stops with Bush." - Thomas Sowell

Jim DeMint makes a Barry Goldwater style conservative keynote address.

Hey, it would work for me.... :-)

Wow why McCain as a speaker??  I am so sick of him.  How about Liz Cheney as a speaker?

I think McCain is there because he has been pretty hard against Obama on foreign affairs recently.  I just hope that the Romney campaign vets his speech before he gives it.

I am telling you, they better vet McCain's speech. I don't think he would say anything bad about Romney though.

Screw vetting it, they need to write his speech, lest he be tempted to talk about reaching (for his ankles) across the aisle...

If there was an olympic gold medal for pot stirring, that post would win it. Then there would be the associated IRS problems.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Here is my prediction. Palin will be on the outs. Romney will pick another Yankee, Chris Christy, as the key note speaker. McCain speaking (WTF). The VP hopefully will be Rubio or West. Dissing the top Tea Party members (Palin & West) will be a bad mistake by the Romney folks. Romney needs someone to fire up the base rather than a policy wok.

Just hoping this is not another Nelson Rockefeller ticket. Dull, dull and duller.

I'm with you on Col. West but, the basic rule is, the candidate must pick someone more boring than them.

I want a fighter for his pick. West would be great, he is definitely qualified. Christy would not take any crap and tell it like it is. I would love to see him in a debate with Biden and obama. He would rip them apart. I don't care for popcorn, but I would definitely make an exception and eat some for that show.

Note: It is being reported that, depending on how this election turns out, Christy might be looking at 2016. Him and Hillary in the general? That would be pants..

If McCain is the keynote speaker, or gets to speak at all, will he use owebuma's middle name, or allow anyone to use it ? Or will he castigate people for using owebuma's middle name like owebuma, and everyone else and their brother have used it since owebuma's inauguration ?

I would like a fighter, sure, but it also needs to be someone to the RIGHT of Romney, to energize the base and to take the attack to the O campaign. That's why I think Christie's not it. Rubio or West would be excellent picks, and I'm sure our esteemed members here could come up with more.

It was announced this morning that Rand Paul, Mary Falin, Jeb Bush and Rick Santorum will also be speaking. They still haven't said who the keynote speaker will be.

Lot of current & former Governors slated to speak. Could this be a sign of the return of the 10th amendmendment

Look at the last 3 VPs on winning tickets Bush, Quayle, Cheney

Which one was picked to energize the base or win a swing state?

Winners have picked the best man for the job. If Romney picks Rubio or West it's because he thinks they are the best person for the VP. I think he will go for someone with experience and the GOP is really lacking in national figures with experience right now.

Experienced politicians have created 16 trillion in debt, 100 trillion in unfunded liabilities. All that experience has really f.....k up this country. Both Democrats and Repubs are responsible. The last thing I want to see as a keynote speaker or the VP pick is a career politician. We need someone with a lick of common sense that has not been corrupted by politics, power and who still thinks spending millions rather than billions is a lot of friggin money.

Obama has created a lot of the problems, he's what happens when you pick an idealogue with little experience. Sure career politicians aren't great but inexperienced ones are even worse.
